Here are the other two shades of Marc Jacobs Beauty Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) that I purchased. The formula is supposed to glide on easily with “instant buildable coverage.” It’s a twist-up, creamy eyeshadow pencil that feels cool and water-like when it touches the skin. It sets quite quickly, so it’s easiest to use a single shade as an all-over color or base. If you want to use more than one shade, work one eye at a time and you may find layering the lighter shade back over the darker shade, then blending, is a useful technique. I found this formula to have a very similar look and feel to Chanel’s Stylo Eyeshadow. I didn’t have any creasing with either shade over an eight-hour period, but there was some fall out.

Full disclosure: I tried these on my lower lash line, and I had the most searing pain in my eye; I couldn’t even wait to grab a cotton pad to remove it (I couldn’t keep my eye open long enough to find one), so I just splashed my eyes with water and all of the eyeshadow washed away and my eyes instantly felt better. I had only applied it as an eyeliner to the lower lash line (but not the water line) on one eye, but once one eye started blinking and watering, the other one did (causing the eyeshadow on the lid to move), and then both were excruciatingly painful. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a beauty product give me such a vicious, instant reaction. Wearing them purely as an eyeshadow on the eyelid didn’t result in any painful reactions, and when I removed them with a cleansing oil, nothing was amiss either.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Au Revoir (406) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “pewter shimmer.” It’s a medium-dark, golden taupe brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single stroke, and it was buildable to mostly opaque coverage with two to three layers. NARS Dione (P, $29.00) is cooler-toned. bareMinerals Santorini (LE) is similar. Chanel Mirage (95) (P, $36.00) is warmer. MAC Crushed Clove (P, $15.00) is darker. bareMinerals Hot Commodity (LE) is similar. Too Faced Jingle All the Way Eyeshadow #4 (LE, $16.00) is similar. Sleek MakeUP Court in Cannes (LE, $9.99) is similar. CoverGirl Melted Caramel Flame (350) (P, $7.99) is less shimmery. Urban Decay Juju (LE, $20.00) is cooler-toned. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shoshanna (414) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “teal mermaid shimmer.” It’s a medium-dark, green-leaning teal with subtle cool undertones and a metallic finish. It had semi-sheer coverage in a single pass, and it was buildable to semi-opaque coverage. This shade was more difficult to apply, and because it wasn’t a neutral color, it was very obvious when it applied unevenly–it looked patchy on.
