Ten new shades of the Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow ($9.99 for 0.064 oz.) have been released. This time around, the brand has made it a point to state that those with oilier lids will need to use a primer for longevity if you have oilier lids as they are prone to creasing without one. They’re still supposed to have “intense pigmentation” with a “smooth, silky formula.” In general, they are fairly pigmented (mostly opaque to opaque) with a dense, creamy consistency that tends to be very metallic and high-shine.

The formula didn’t seem to wear well over primers like Urban Decay Primer Potion (extending wear to as long as 8-9 hours) or NARS Smudge Proof (extending wear to 12+ hours), and instead, it actually creased faster than when I applied them over my bare lids, which are normal-to-dry. I was able to prevent creasing for longer using a MAC Paint Pot (extending wear to as long as 12+ hours), which is a much heavier and opaque base, and it prevented creasing for an additional two hours beyond if I wore them without any base or primer. A more opaque, thicker base helps extend wear, but whatever oils are used in the product definitely seem to break down even the best of primers/bases, because while I could normally get 12 hours easily with a MAC Paint Pot, I could see faint creasing developing at the nine hour mark.

Makeup Geek High Wire Foiled Eyeshadow ($9.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “medium silver with subtle blue undertones medium silver with hint of blue.” It’s a cool-toned, silvered purple with a frosted, metallic finish. It had rich color payoff with a creamy, thick consistency that felt almost like a cream eyeshadow. It is quite metallic, so paired with the thickness of the formula, it can emphasize the lid’s texture if over-applied. It started to crease after five hours over NARS/Urban Decay primers, seven and a half hours on bare lids, and nine and a half hours over MAC Painterly. Too Faced Nashville (P, $16.00) is darker, warmer. MAC Fathoms Deep (P, $20.00) is darker. Giorgio Armani Scarab Violetta (33) (LE, $33.00) is darker. MAC Water & Ice #2 (P, $21.00) is darker. Makeup Geek Fantasy Foiled Eyeshadow ($9.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “int green with a foiled finish frosty mint green.” It’s a softened, light-medium green with warm, yellow undertones and a metallic finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that went on evenly on the skin. It wore well for seven hours on bare lids, five and a half over NARS/Urban Decay primers, and nine hours over MAC Painterly. Sleek MakeUP Evergreen (P, $9.99) is slightly darker. Ulta Sage (P, $10.00) is more muted, darker. Makeup Geek Shimmermint (P, $5.99) is less metallic. Fyrinnae Electric Stardust (P, $6.80) is lighter. Disney by Sephora Atlantica (LE) is lighter, less shimmery. MAC Golden Olive (P, $21.00) is darker, warmer. Makeup Geek Pegasus Foiled Eyeshadow ($9.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “light, bright aqua with a foiled finish intensely bright light aqua.” It’s a light-medium, green-leaning teal with a metallic sheen. It had great color payoff with a smooth, creamy consistency, so I was surprised when it seemed a little prone to crumbling/flaking when I applied it to the lid. I had better luck using a firm, flat brush (MAC 242) to pat it into black, and then using a fluffier brush to soften the edges, but it wasn’t as foolproof to use it as I expected, given how it felt and how pigmented it was. It wore well for seven hours on bare lids, six hours over NARS/Urban Decay primers, and nine and a half hours over MAC Painterly. I did notice that application was smoother over a primer. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Night Owl #5 (P) is darker, bluer. Anastasia Venezia (LE, $12.00) is lighter, bluer. Hello Kitty Kawaii (LE) is bluer. Too Faced Sequin (LE, $16.00) is darker.
