Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows ($9.99 for 0.064 oz.) are supposed to be a cream and powder hybrid that “does not require primer” and “does not crease, flake, or smudge” with “intense pigmentation.” On the whole, these three were good with two shades having excellent pigmentation and one have good (but not great) payoff. The wear was still hovering around the seven-hour mark, so I’d recommend still using a primer underneath these to prolong the wear. They act primarily like powder eyeshadows, and in that respect, you’ll get the color to transfer if you pressed your fingertip to your lid, and if you wiped (even lightly), you’ll see the color move slightly, so I wouldn’t call them smudge-proof. I liked these a lot for their richness and intensity, though I wish they lasted longer.

They reminded me of Ardency Inn’s Manuka Honey Eyeshadows as well as some of the Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows (more the Metallic finishes) or even some of the ultra metallic Sleek eyeshadows (Sunset #3 comes to mind). All more powder-like than cream, but they have a creaminess and intensity to them that is reminiscent of cream eyeshadow.

Makeup Geek Caitlin Rose Foiled Eyeshadow ($9.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “bright amethyst purple.” It’s a brightened, cool-toned violet purple with a frosted finish. This was the weakest eyeshadow out of the ten launched, as it had less intense color payoff, while the texture was thinner–it felt a little more “pressed” into the pan and didn’t have the same richness or creaminess that the other shades did. It is almost as if it flakes off the surface of the pan at times when trying to use it. I did try using it with a damp brush, but the results didn’t seem to intensify. On me, the color creased slightly after seven hours. Ardency Inn Royal (P, $21.00) is darker. Makeup Geek Pop Culture (P, $5.99) is lighter, bluer. Tarina Tarantino Violet Storm #5 (LE) is warmer. Makeup Geek Grandstand Foiled Eyeshadow ($9.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “medium rose gold with slight taupe undertones.” It’s a slightly muted, medium brown with warm, coppery undertones and a metallic sheen. In the pan, I can see the “taupe undertones,” but applied, it’s really quite warm and more orange/copper. It had rich color payoff that went on very smoothly and blended easily. The consistency was soft, creamy, and made it so a little went a long way. On me, the color wore well for seven hours before creasing. Dior Cuir Cannage #4 (P) is less shimmery. MAC Mortal #4 (LE) is darker. Tarte Copper Kettle (LE) is less shimmery, darker. Stila Peace (P) is more muted. Stila Affection (P) is similar. Makeup Geek Roulette (LE, $5.99) is more orange/red. Make Up For Ever ME612 Silver Brown (P, $21.00) is cooler-toned. Make Up For Ever I648 Golden Fawn (P, $21.00) is lighter. Make Up For Ever D712 Creme Brulee (P, $21.00) is brighter. Makeup Geek Mesmerized Foiled Eyeshadow ($9.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “deep medium taupe with strong purple undertones.” It’s a dark, taupe brown with warm undertones and a frosted, metallic finish. It was incredibly rich in pigment, and the texture of the eyeshadow was silky, creamy, and very blendable on the skin. This shade lasted for seven and a half hours before creasing. Chanel Poesie #4 (LE) is darker, cooler-toned. Ardency Inn Hell (P, $21.00) is yellower. Chanel Tisse Rivoli #1 (P) is less metallic. Maybelline Sleek & Spice (95) (LE, $6.99) is warmer.
