The upcoming MAC x Osbournes Collection features four shades of Patentpolish Lip Pencils, which were a new (and limited edition) formula that released at the end of March of this year. Two of the shades are repromotes, so since I just tested them two months ago, I didn’t re-test them for wear, but the shades are the same in regards to texture/color/application. The Patentpolish Lip Pencil formula is supposed to have “the colour and shine of a gloss, the precision of a lip pencil.” They come housed in a jumbo-sized, twist-up lip pencil and contain slightly less product than a lipstick (0.10 oz.). The two new shades in this collection are actually better than many shades I tried when the formula initially launched, as both applied evenly and lasted a bit longer.

MAC French Kiss Patentpolish Lip Pencil ($21.50 for 0.08 oz.) is described as a “warm caramel.” It’s a warm-toned, medium brown with muted, orange tones. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color coverage, and the color actually applied quite evenly and smoothly. The shade only lasted two hours on me, though. Maybelline Charming Cocoa (125) (LE) is more opaque, lighter. MAC Show Me (P, $19.50) is darker, more opaque. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Innocent Patentpolish Lip Pencil ($21.50 for 0.08 oz.) is described as a “nude beige.” It’s a light, warm-toned beige with a creamy, lightly glossy finish. This applied very unevenly, but it did have semi-opaque pigmentation. It lasted an hour and a half. MAC Naked Bud (LE, $16.00) is warmer. Maybelline Nude Lust (920) (P, $7.49) is slightly warmer. MAC Softly Lit (LE, $20.00) is glossier, more shimmery. Buxom Nudist (P, $21.00) is a touch less warm-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Patentpink Patentpolish Lip Pencil ($21.50 for 0.08 oz.) is described as a “washed-out lilac.” It’s a cool-toned, light pink with bluish-gray undertones and a light shine. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which applied somewhat evenly–more evenly than anticipated for this type of color–but could use improvement in that area. It wore well for just over two hours. MAC Rose Lily (LE, $16.00) is lighter, less glossy. MAC Long Love Love (P, $19.50) is glossier, lighter. MAC Divine Choice (P, $22.00) is darker, warmer, less glossy. MAC Saint Germain (LE, $15.00) is glossier, brighter. MAC Enchantee (LE, $18.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Ruby Patentpolish Lip Pencil ($21.50 for 0.08 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone rose.” It’s a medium-dark, muted berry with cool undertones and a glossy shine. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque poigmentatoin that applied evenly, smoothly, and didn’t settle into lip lines. This shade wore for three hours but didn’t really leave a stain. NARS Sixties Fan (P, $26.00) is brighter. NARS Quito (P, $26.00) is brighter. MAC Fashion Perk (P, $22.00) is more berry-hued. Milani Ravish Raspberry (06) (P, $5.49) is brighter, cooler-toned. Milani Berry Tempting (05) (P, $5.49) is cooler-toned. Marc Jacobs Beauty Studded Kiss (310) (P, $28.00) has shimmer. MAC Colour Saturation (LE, $20.00) is brighter, cooler-toned.
