MAC Who’s the DJ Lip Palette x6 ($40.00 for 0.25 oz.) consists of six lipsticks that range from light beige to aqua blue. All of the colors applied and looked lighter on than they did in the pan. I love the concept; I love seeing non-traditional colors released in a major way, because it’s fun and interesting and different. It would have been really spectacular if MAC launched a coordinating six-pan eyeshadow palette with these shades in eyeshadow form, though! I wish the performance of the shades was better; the blue and green were disappointing and need a base to work (lip primer, concealer, lip liner, and so forth), so it’s more of a miss, but it was fun to play with. I was surprised at how well the lavender shade applied and wore!

Desert Sun is described as a “creamy nude [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a very light, peachy-pink beige with a semi-matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that went on fairly evenly but was quick to pull into lip lines. It lasted for three and a half hours, was drying, and settled heavily into lip lines. Weekend 1 is described as a “bubblegum pink [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a cool-toned, ultra light pink with a semi-matte finish. This shade also had moderate color coverage that didn’t look streaky on, but it pulled into lip lines. The settling worsened as it wore, and it stayed on for three hours but was drying. She’s a Peach is described as a “bright salmon [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a softened, light-medium peachy orange with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had mostly opaque coverage, but it was a little more emollient so it didn’t go on quite as evenly. It wore well for four hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. Weekend 2 is described as a “lilac [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a lightly brightened lavender purple with a smidgen of pink and an overall cooler undertone paired with a satin sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation and applied beautifully–surprisingly even and smooth (given the performance of the three prior shades). Umbrella Sky is described as a “bright sky blue [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a soft, aqua blue with cool undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a noticeable sheerness to it that really made it look streaky. It also pulled into lip lines due to the more emollient and thicker consistency of the formula. Vintage Radio is described as a “seafoam green [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a muted, light-medium green with hints of gray and warm undertones. It had a soft sheen. The color payoff was semi-opaque, but it had the same heavier, more emollient texture of Umbrella Sky, which led to the color finding lip lines.
