Oh, dear. Any time Disney characters and makeup collide, my wallet suffers. It’s like giving my inner child access to a credit card. To make matters worse, these are all colors I’d wear regularly, so it’ll be even harder to trim down my list!

ceebee_eebee Avatar

I’m so disappointed in the packaging! They should have put a glass slipper or a clock face or SOMETHING iconic on there. Not just the name! Oh, I weep at the lost opportunity here.

Carrie Avatar

Well I think because it’s for the live-action remake, they went for more simple packaging. If this was for the animation, I could understand the symbols.

CeeCee Avatar

What really stands out to me are the Studio Eye Glosses as they released a few that were used for NY Fashion Week (if memory serves correctly?) and everything I read about them said they were VERY sticky. Like sticky enough to make blinking laborious.

I doubt they’ve done anything differently to the formula so I’m still apprehensive. Which is a shame because it looks really cool on the eyes!

And while the palette looks wearable the amount of permanent shades are disappointing and means MAC fans are likely to have repeats somewhere.

Lisa Avatar

I don’t know why but I’m awfully suspicious of that shadow palette. I can see it being a chalky mess… Anyway, pretty packaging and great for the Cinderella lovers but I don’t see myself picking any of it up. It’s a bit too pastel for my liking but am looking forward to your review!

Lydia Avatar

Mmmm… pretty, but all in all a bit meh. The only things that really intrigue me are the eye glosses! That’s a bit of an edgy component. I’ve always heard that eye glosses don’t wear very well/long, though, that they’re more for photography and prompt removal? Do you have any experience with eye glosses, Christine, or do you plan to review these?

Rachel R. Avatar

Pretty collection, but I have a feeling the lipsticks and lipglasses aren’t going to be great. I like the eyeshadow palette. The Evil Stepmother pigments sound the most intriguing to me.

Katherine T. Avatar

The lipsticks, glosses, and pressed highlighters/powders look pretty for spring. Not too crazy about the colors in the shadow palette -look more like fall colors, and where’s the blue eye shadow for Cinderella?

Noga Avatar

Not loving the packaging, but the eyeshadow palette has potential… or are they going to screw up a few of the most amazing eyeshadows they have in the permanent line? I wouldn’t put that past them…

Lilac Avatar

Actually I like the Lustre Finish 🙂 MAC Satin and Mattes sometimes are just too much for me, though they are alright, too, but I don’t like (and don’t buy) Amplified or Cremesheen, so there is not much left then (neutral on the Frosts, don’t know many of their shades). Lustres are my favs by MAC and Satins are second. Since there were so many Mattes in the past collections, maybe this time it’s a nice change for people who prefer other finishes 🙂

On the whole collection, I really would have liked that palette, but I have Quarry already and anyways enough neutral, plus I suspect most of them would be too warm for me. Really sad, because I do like the look of the palette, but since the colours are wrong, I really cannot buy it.

Lauren Avatar

I wish they did more with the packaging! It’s not that special, just light blue with the words Cinderella. I would have gone for a pretty blush or powder in more spectacular packaging.

Cindy Avatar

Definite pass for me. In my makeup world, makeup has COLOR! This has none. Cinderella didn’t look like a corpse at the ball, did she? Haha! Big disappointment in the color selection and the packaging. Very plain. There should be a glittery glass slipper on there or SOMETHING! Give us some bling, PLEASE!! LOL!

tzwiggy Avatar

“Pink beige with silver shimmer” is considered “matte”? *confused*

I can see this collection selling out because of the disney/cinderella theme. The products are pretty boring, though. An eyeshadow palette where 5/6 shades are permanent? So lazy!

Sarah Avatar

Haha, the description made me picture in my mind the ugliest chalky looking powder with chunky silver glitter in it, yuck!! Hopefully it’s better than the description!

Neetz Avatar

What are your initial thoughts on MACs take vs Sephora’s a few years back. This collection seems kind of….idk meh/boring. Esp the packaging.

Stacey Avatar

Cinderella is my favorite Disney story. I used to own five of those books and I loved Cinderella the best. I even want to see the movie. That said, I wont buy any of the products in this collection until I swatch. Mac’s pretty packaging can be deceiving just like the wicked Stepmother.

Mariella Avatar

I already own 5 of the 6 shadows in the palette (I’m such a princess, myself!). I do like the look of that Pretty It Up pigment and I’m interested in seeing the Beauty Powder, though I am never quite sure what to do with them (the one I have is too light to be a blush for me and too pink to be much of anything else….)

Dustin Avatar

How is something matte WITH silver shimmer? LOL! The packaging is pretty IMO (I’m sure plenty will love and plenty will hate). I’m just over the MOON that they’re putting the eye glosses on the menu for this one because I’ve been DYING to see you review those! (insert mad laughter) Gloss in a pot. For your eyeballs. I love glossy eyes but I like creased makeup 😉

Anyway, If the love we share means anything to you you’d make the hubby do the write up for that one 😉 LOL Nahhh… maybe they’re good right?

P.S. I DO really love his reviews. I know you know that but, you know… it’s worth repeating 🙂 x

Jo Avatar

Some of it looks pretty but there was probably scope for some amazing blue glitter products (something like Illamasqua Raindrops?) And while the packaging colour is pretty, they definitely could have done more with Cinderella. I also love Quarry but I don’t see it as a Cinderella colour. It’s a bit too earthy..?

Lulle Avatar

Wow, this is all very girly. Not surprising for a Disney princess inspired collection I guess, but I’m really not attracted to anything. I’m quite curious about the performance of the eye glosses, but the “wet eye” look is really not something I’m into personally.

Tarah Avatar

They better have made enough for everyone !!!!
I’m sick of im collections selling out in minutes and then it ending up on ebay for hundreds of dollars !!

Rachel R. Avatar

Audrey, you can order the Cinderella mirror compact online from the Disney Store. It’s only $14.99 plush shipping. (I think my shipping came to $4.95 for Oregon, USA.)

mara Avatar

i thought i saw some promo images with grey packaging & rose gold trim? do you know if that’s coming out as well or if this is it?

either way…these items look lovely!!

Amara Avatar

i’m not sure why i just feel a bit underwhelmed by this collection! i like the blue of the packaging, just not the name of the movie being slapped on there. the pigments and maybe the palette look intriguing. the eye glosses interest me for photoshoots though! i’m insanely excited for the movie!

Estefania Avatar

I’m kind of excited for this collection! If the pearl on the lipglasses is really noticeable, I will be grabbing those!

Not too excited about the eye glosses being jacked up in price, but I can’t let Lightly Tauped disappear on me again!

I just wish they’d done something different with the eye palette. It’s just so utterly basic, in the bad way. Most of these are shades that people already have….

Ooh! And I propose they should’ve done clear acrylic plastic packaging with a gradient of blue to clear glitter.

Tiffany Avatar

I’m so disappointed in this collection. The packaging is beautiful but none of the colors really work on my skin. I wish there was nail polish so I could actually wear something. If the brushes are similar to the packaging I’ll get one.

Alana Avatar

I’m not wowed by the colors so much but they do look like very nice colors. I feel like the packaging could have been prettier but it’s still pretty. The names they came up with for the shades are so creative and Cinderella-esque. I’m definitely going to get some of these.

Sarah Avatar

First time I’ve been excited for a MAC collection in a long time! Unfortunately, none of the makeup really appeals to me. And the packaging is just a logo?! So uninspired. 🙁 I may pick up the blending brush since I actually do need a good one. And the iridescent powder seems worth a looksee as well, hopefully you review! 🙂

Christine Avatar

Macroviolet is a repromote, isn’t it? The promo image looks an awful like my little container of Macroviolet fluidline that I got in 2013, but with a blue top.

Missed opportunity where’s the Cinderella blue dress eye shadow, MAC?! Even Sephora got in on that with their Storylook palettes. Hmn, maybe I should just dive back into my Cinderella Storylook palette while I wait for reviews.

Bunga Avatar

M.A.C got lazy with the packaging :/ a world’s apart with what Sephora x Disney released before. Was hoping THAT would make a comeback coz I totally missed it.

Regarding this collection, the eye gloss intrigues me. Gonna wait your review on that. For sure I’ll be picking both lipsticks. Although the color and finish are not that exciting, I’ll buy for the sake of collection coz you know how crazily priced it is once its gone. But hey I could be mistaken about not liking the color like my first impression of Toledo’s oxblood and now I have 3 heh

Ann Avatar

What’s the difference between Iridiescent Pressed Powder and Beauty Powder? Also I notice the beauty powder says (matte) but it has silver shimmer. How does that work? Sorry for all the questions, I’m not too familiar with MAC products.

Tiffany Avatar

I feel like we were spoiled by the Sephora x Disney packaging so this packing falls a little flat for me. It’s pretty, but it’s no Villainous Villains/Alluring Aquatic/Manish Aurora.

charlotte Avatar

Are the x6 palettes typically the same quality/size as the singles? I don’t buy much Mac but that palette has several “classic” colors I would be interested in so I’m tempted just for the value. I imagine those who buy a lot of it would be quite disappointed since it has so many permanent shades.

kellly Avatar

I guess that peachy shimmery looking stuff in the flat jar is one of the eye glosses, which I can’t find in stores, but I just might have to order. It looks SOOOO pretty and I love natural colored shiny eyelids especially for summer!

Emmie Avatar

OMGGGG! Beautiful packaging. Cinderella is my favorite! Christine, will you be doing a review on this? I’d really appreciate it. You’re my voice of reason 😀

EƎ Avatar

The colours in general are beautiful, especially the pressed powders. Unlike many others I’m not that fond of the packaging. It only seems to work good with the lipsticks and pressed powders.

Brenda Avatar

I’ll pass on this collection. To plain and the packaging is a let down. I did find that Disney store has a Cinderella compact mirror that they are releasing in honor of the movie. The mirror looks pretty sweet. You can find it on the Disney store website.

Jillian Avatar

I’m really digging this collection. I’m actually really interested in the eyeshadow palette! Quarry, Phloof!, and Omega I’ve always wanted to buy but never have, and I’m a huge Satin Taupe fan. If the quality and value is there, I might pick this up.

And I’m really liking the lipsticks so far, too. But $21 CDN? I’m not really happy with the prices here.

kohimiruku Avatar

Good God, that packaging makes it seem like I’m looking at tons of little jars of eye cream.

Luckily for my wallet, I’m disappointed. Seems like this would all very easily turn to a muddy/ashy glittery mess on my light-olive-warm-toned skin, barring the Fluidlines and Pigments. But eh, Cinderella was never one of my favorites anyways, so I’ll live. What I DO regret is never getting that Jasmine palette from Sephora! Haha.

Al Avatar

I love Cinderella SO MUCH, but this collection just looks SO BORING to me! 🙁

I like the blue color, but the packaging feels so plain. The lipsticks appear too light for me, and I’m disappointed that they choose the Luster finish for them.

Trina Avatar

This has always been one of my favorite movies, the original old school disney one. have to get a few things just because. Definitely agree they missed the chance to be more creative with the packaging. They could of even added small details like the mice or pumpkin carriage along the side of the pigment bottle or on the lipstick tube. let’s hope since they were cheap on packaging they got performance and pigmentation right.

Kat Avatar

This collection looks so pretty but in all honesty i’m not the biggest fan of cinderella (despite being a HUGE Disney fan), I just don’t find the story or the character that exciting. This collection is exactly what I expected, pretty and delicate but nothing gripping or different. The powder looks gorgeous though I will defiantly be picking that up!

Lisa Avatar

When it says:
Availability: February 26th, 2015 online at maccosmetics.com, March 5th, 2015 at select MAC locations (North America), March 2015 at select locations (International)
does that mean you have to get it directly through MAC in North America? I thought “select MAC locations” also meant MAC counters, but I just talked to the SA at Nordstrom and she said they won’t be getting it.
I fear this means it’s going to be really, really hard to get ahold of.

Christine Avatar

MAC doesn’t provide a list of what locations it will be released at, the only info I have is “select.” There are two separate dates for North America/International – they don’t usually provide a specific date for international, just a month.

Amanda Avatar

I want to love this, but I just don’t know…. I feel like the packaging looks really basic and like it’s play make up – as in if it wasn’t expensive I would buy my two year old one of the compacts to play with when she watches me do make up. I never had the money to spend on brand name makeup and always stuck to pixi from Target for the longest time, so I’m newly building my collection – the eye shadow palette is actually kind of appealing for someone who doesn’t really have any shadows. I kind of like the lip colour too, but the packaging is such a let down I feel like I’d rather find a dupe from another brand.

Shannon Avatar

Just got on MAC’s website to checkout the Cinderella line and order a few things and everything is SOLD OUT!!! I know I did jump right on the bandwagon the second things were available but I am beyond frustrated with MAC and have been for a long time now. What is the point of putting out a line that obviously is going to sell well and not have enough inventory. This doesn’t make me want their products more, this makes me want to start using more products from other brands who don’t alienate their customers from purchasing products. MAC has done this for years and I’m just about done with it. Sorry this is a negative comment but I needed to vent lol 🙁

rose Avatar

I agree. I am hating mac right now. I only have a few things from previous collections because I find them high price, (higher in Canada even though it is made here) often tacky collaborations, and in boring black packaging even if the colours are LE. I usually go for LORAC or thebalm. I thought this collection was boring at first too, but then over a month I changed my mind and decided I was going to get 2 things. Looks like the majority of those who cashed in (litterally) are the scalpers on Ebay who left nothing for anyone else. It seems I am always chasing after items from mac after they sell out, so I agree with you Shannon. I think I will call it quits too with mac. As my husband said, “I’m worth more than that” and my feelings are too.
