MAC Valiant Eyeshadow Quad
MAC Wonder Woman: Valiant Eyeshadow Quad
MAC VALIANT EYESHADOW QUAD ($40.00 for 0.20 oz.) includes four shades of eyeshadow: Manila Paper (pale frost white gold), Valiant (light lime with yellow pearl), Diana Undercover (dark forest green), and Spinning Transformation (deep olive bronze with yellow pearl).
- Manila Paper is a warm, white gold with excellent color payoff. This is a veluxe pearl finish. It is a repromote from Spring Colour Forecast. It is similar to Nylon but warmer.
- Valiant is a yellowed, pale chartreuse green–extremely yellowed. It has so-so color pay off; it is a little sheer. This is a frost finish. It’s a yellower version of Juxt.
- Diana Undercover is a darkened green with a brownish base. This is a satin finish. It had decent pigmentation but took a layer or two for it to show. It did work better in a look than swatched on the skin. The green is similar to the base color of NARS Blade Runner (but lacks the shmmer).
- Spinning Transformation is a olive-tinged khaki brown with a soft bronze sheen. This is a frost finish. Pigmentation was decent but the texture was so thin–just not soft or silky smooth at all. It’s a less pigmented, less gold-shimmered NARS Star Sailor. It is a browner, less green-tinged Sumptuous Olive.
I feel like Valiant is just a little better than Lady Justice–decent but not as high quality as I’d like to see. Manila Paper is the standout shade in terms of color pay off and texture; creamy, smooth, and rich. Diana Undercover is a shade that MAC hasn’t done often, so I like it for its originality, but I wish it had a buttery texture. For a frost finish, Spinning Transformation wasn’t as soft and smooth as I’d expect.

final thoughts: Though these shades lean warm, they do not lean so warm that they won’t also complement cooler skin tones. I think the pigmentation is decent across the board in this palette, but it’s not above and beyond excellent.

me want!
hmmm… oh well. maybe i’ll just buy one of these, scrape out the shadows and press my own pigments into the pans for a palette i would actually use 🙂 lol! i love the packaging!
Finally, someone else that is in love with the packaging! It’s wonderfully campy! 😀
haha i love it! it’s completely campy! i’d be upset if it wasn’t! now if it had linda carter’s photo on there somewhere… then i’d buy it ALL! haha 🙂
Lurrrvvve this!
Awesome case…we are wonder women 🙂
Thanks for sharing

It is looks like REVLON Illuminance Cream Shadow case!!!!
Love these colors, exept the white one. I think a softer beige would have been more fitting. But thats my opinion 😉
These colors are so common that I have dupes for all of these. I will be passing. Yay!!
I love the colours in this quad… 🙂 I might test them out at the store even the collection comes to my country…
I’m so disappointed by these quads – the only shade I thought looked decent was Deep Truth!
Do you think Spinning Transformation has similarities to Olive Groove from Tantress?
Also, is Valiant similar to MAC shadestick in Lucky Jade?
No, definitely not!
I do not have that.
I quite like the combination of colours in this palette. I like how the neutrals are offset by the dark forest green.
Christine, do you think this palette? i love the eye look you did with it I already have manila paper in the colour 4 quad(SCF) collection I’m disappoined with the quality of the shadows!
I meant to ask is the palette worth getting? lol sorry.
I would pass, personally…
Thank you for all the hard work that you do for us! I think i’ll just stick with MA blush and golden lariat msf.
I want this just for Diana Undercover! Too bad it’s not sold seperately…
Me too! But only because Diana is my name! haha
Love these colours.
This is the one quad I wanted. I really like all four colors. Thank you for all of these helpful reviews!
Ooooo these colors look so lovely!! I want!!!
To Christine,
You should check out the Specktra MAC wonder woman collection and see all the influence you have on people’s purchasing tendencies…almost everyone is saying “I thought I was going to get this, but after seeing swatches/reading review on Temptalia, I am not, etc…”…This all due to your hard work and your HONESTY in delivering the reviews, and the time and the effort you put into each review…This kind of credibility is only earned so congrats!!
Thanks for sharing! I appreciate it! 🙂
I’m not as in love with this as I thought I’d be from the description, but I will probably still pick it up because I love greens. Thank you so much Christine for all the reviews and swatches!
I was gonna skip this collection but after seeing the swatches and video for this pallete/quad I want it, thanks a mill Christine!
My issue with these palettes is that the namesake for the palettes–the colors that are supposed to be front and center–frankly don’t interest me. I could invest in a green palette from another brand (Hourglass, perhaps?) for this price.
Do these palettes come w/ a brush ?
Nope!
Overall, is the quad similar to the green photorealism quad that was released last year I think it was?
It’s different, IMO.
If I don’t own many green/olive shades, do you think this would be a good palette to purchase? Or are there better colors in the permanent collection that I should check out? I kind of like having a whole look in one palette which is why this appeals to me, and I don’t have any dupes for these colors, but if the quality is really low maybe I should just work on building my own quads.
I don’t think the quality is as good as other MAC shadows, so I can’t recommend it.
This is the only thing from this collection that I would consider purchasing, however I have blue/green eyes and I’m always hesitant to match eyeshadows with my eye color. Do you think that this would look good on green eyes even though the eyeshadows are green?
Yes, I do!
I am so dissapointed (well, my bank account isn’t) to hear how the quality of these shadows are. At least I can dupe most of these from the stash I already have. Thanks Christine! I think I’ll get the blushes instead. 🙂
I want this! >< Gah.. I really like most of the offered colors in this collection. So nice. ;;
I’ll buy it but I need to swatch before…. Anyway, I prefer this one than the other two quads.
How does Diana Undercover compare to Humid?
Humid is brighter and frostier.
i think this is the only thing worth buying in the whole dang collection…
