On January 20th, MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Lipglass ($15.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “hot pink with sparkling pearl.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark fuchsia pink with lighter pink and teal sparkle and shimmer. It looks a lot more muted on the lips, and it’s sheer enough that whatever your natural lip color is will greatly impact how this looks on you. The amount and type of sparkle (it’s very iridescent on) makes it harder to dupe, I think. Maybelline Opalescent Orchid (515) (P, $8.99) is darker, cooler-toned, less sparkly. MAC Social Season (LE, $20.00) is warmer. MAC Seeking Adoration (LE, $20.00) is less sparkly. MAC Ceremonial (LE, $20.00) is less sparkly. MAC Astral (LE, $20.00) is warmer. It’s sheer, though also quite sparkly, so it will tint the lips a pink-red color while adding a lot of sparkle. I wish the description was more in line with the opacity-level actually seen. If your lips are redder naturally, I’d expect little color difference. It does pair and layer well with the lipstick, though I think any sparkly gloss will do the same. I liked how it applied fairly evenly without setling into lip lines heavily. The consistency is moderately tacky, but it is thinner than most shades in the permanent range for Lipglass (feels like a newer Lipglass to me). It lasted for three and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating on me. I really love the Viva Glam line, so if sheer gloss is your cup of tea, it’s still worth checking out, and if you’re not keen on this shade, perhaps consider one of the other Viva Glam shades.
