MAC Glitter & Ice Beauty Powders

MAC Glitter & Ice Beauty Powders ($24.00 for 0.35 oz. each) include two, limited edition shades: How Beautiful! (pale shimmering beige) and Snowglobe (frosty pink beige). The collection is slated to hit stores on October 27th. Beauty powders are soft, sheer to semi-sheer products that can be used on the face as a highlighter or finishing powder, but occasionally they’ll be pigmented enough (or your skin tone may be light enough) for them to be used as a bronzer/blusher. The two featured in this launch lend themselves more as highlighters, even on lighter complexions.

How Beautiful! is a light-medium beige-bronze with a satiny shimmer-sheen. It’s warmer and less frosted compared to MAC Belightful. It’s very, very sheer. It may be a subtle bronzer on the most porcelain of skin tones, but even that may be a stretch. My arm, which is around NC20, barely shows the product once it is blended out. It’s a nice way to add a hint of warmth (without being orange or gold) to the skin, and the sheerness should allow for easy application for both cool and warm skin tones. I will caution that on medium to dark skin tones, the effect is minimal, so you may prefer something with more oomph.

Snowglobe is a pale pink-white with a satiny shimmer-sheen. It’s even sheerer than How Beautiful! because even the heavy swatch looks sheer. It’s pinker than MAC Lightscapade but lighter than MAC Light Sunshine. The upside of something this sheer is that despite its overall paleness in color, it doesn’t appear chalky or powdery, just because there is little product to be seen.  It’s not too cool-toned that it cannot be worn by warmer complexions, and even if it leaned that way, the sheerness makes it fuss-free no matter the tone.  I could see this working as a light finishing powder on paler beauties.

Both of them had soft textures that leaned on the drier side, but this seemed to be minimized when applied with a brush.  The packaging is a glossy white with silver lettering, and inside the compact is a full-sized mirror.  I was only able to achieve six hours of good wear with these, but by the eighth hour, most of the product had disappeared.

May I ask what your comparison between Snow Globe and Lightscapade might be? I want a backup for that soft glow effect but, obviously, Lightscapade is long gone! 😡 Thanks!

I’m absurdly pale too and usually use powder foundations that are a bit darker then my skin for contouring – I have to say that I’m strangely attracted to How Beautiful as well. And I’ve never been attracted to a bronzer!

I think “snowglobe” would be useful as a highlighter for browbone and cheekbone for my skintone. I am medium toned olive-neutral undertones. I cant think of any other ways to use though. I am sure “how beautiful” wont show at all.

I happen to really love MAC’s beauty powder formula, because they never look chalky and the shimmery formulations are never as disco-ballesque as many of the mineralize skin finishes… but neither of these are new or unique enough to get me to fork over the extra cash.

I agree, you look amazing! May I know which shade you are wearing?

I’m so disappointed with Guerlain service in my country! I was matched to #02 and I was like O.o I’m NC 30, and when I asked for a full face test the lady just can’t be bothered, she said it was a shame to wipe off the makeup I was already wearing (when I really didn’t mind, and I was there to buy a foundation anyway!) and tested it on my neck, which is a full one shade lighter than my face. PLEASE tell me how I’m supposed to spend $60 when I can’t even have a face test??? We don’t get testers in my country!!!

I’ve had a full makeover at MAC, Bobbi Brown, MUFE, Estee and Chanel and this is what I got from Guerlain?? Shame on them.

Hey lovely Christine thanks for the review, just wanted to ask, Do you think thank snowglobe has a more settle shine than lightscape? would u prefer it over lightscape?

I have to agree with everyone, you look absolutely gorgeous Christine! Unfortunately, I don’t think these will agree with my skintone, and I can’t justify shelling about $24 for something so sheer. 🙁

Also, this is kind of off topic, but I was just wondering if we had to sign in on here somewhere or something? I’ve been following your site for about a month now and I’ve only just started commenting a few days ago, so I’m kind of clueless lol.

Thanks for everything you do! ^_^

Christine I have a request. When you take pictures of an item like this such as the MAC beauty powders, could you take a pic of the outside, top of the compact? I collect MAC beauty powders and it helps me greatly if I can see the entire compact? Just a thought………..thanks!
