MAC Gingerluxe Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Trio ($25.00 for oz.) is a warm-toned set of shades ranging from gold to golden orange to smoky green. This trio is an online exclusive and limited edition. The three shades coordinate well together, but the Veluxe Pearlfusion is one of those eyeshadows that you may love or easily skip right on by. This formula is supposed to have “sheer coverage with a soft finish” when applied dry and “super saturation of colour with metallic brilliance” when applied wet. My experience with this formula is that sometimes it can be really nice, other times it is a total miss. I think they are most practical used damp or over a slightly tacky base if you want to use them dry. They’re actually longer-wearing than you might think, given how they feel and swatch, but I usually get seven to eight hours of crease-free wear. I liked this one best applied damp or over a tacky base, as the sparkly bits of the orange and smoky green don’t work well dry.

Gingerluxe #1 is described as a “yellow-gold.” It’s a brightened, light-medium yellowed gold with warm, golden orange undertones and a frosted sheen. It was sheer applied dry and semi-opaque applied damp, but it was fairly smooth when applied with a damp brush. The dry application tended to sheer out the eyeshadow even more. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me. bareMinerals Surreal (P, ) is more muted. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Triptych (P, $14.00) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter. MAC Goldmine (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. MAC Gaelic Gold (LE, $16.00) is darker. Ulta Gold (P, $10.00) is more shimmery. Tarte Up to No Gold (LE, ) is darker. Kat Von D Summerfly (P, ) is darker. Gingerluxe #2 is described as a “tangerine orange.” It’s a yellowed, tangerine orange with warm undertones and pink and gold shimmer and faint sparkle. It was sheer applied dry, and it was semi-opaque when I applied it damp. The texture holds together better and gives smoother, more even application when used with a damp brush. This shade wore well for eight hours but has a smidgen of fall out to contend with. bareMinerals Extravagance (LE, ) is lighter. MAC Golden Hours #2 (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery. Gingerluxe #3 is described as a “deep sparkly khaki.” It’s a blackened olive green with larger olive sparkle and glitter. The base appears more olive-like when applied dry, but damp application brings out the darkness of the black. The texture is noticeably sparkly and tends to fall apart without a tacky base or really damp brush to help bind everything together. I had moderate fall out when using this with a damp brush, so I suspect a glitter adhesive will be a must to avoid fall out with this shade. It wore for eight hours before fading. Urban Decay Scorpio (P, $20.00) is less shimmery. NARS Gabon (LE, $25.00) is less shimmery. Sleek MakeUP Sultan’s Garden (LE, $9.99) is less shimmery, lighter. MAC Greenluxe #4 (P, ) is warmer.
