Are you ready for MAC’s Colour Ready Collection?

MAC Colour Ready launches in North America on April 2nd, but here’s a little preview of two of the three new products to MAC. Colour Ready is primarily about prepping the face to be able to take on bold, intense color (hence the two wickedly intense hot pink lipsticks, the bright chartreuse eyeshadow, and so on).

Update: MAC has created three new Prep + Prime products, and it has now been confirmed that all three products are part of the permanent collection.

The first in the line-up is the Prep + Prime Line Filler ($19.50). It comes in a small tube, but a little will get the job done. I imagine it’s pretty much designed to be used around your facial expression lines, like the ones by your eyes and smile. What the Line Filler does is it plumps up the skin to minimize the appearance of the wrinkles.

I tested it by putting it on the back of my hand, and you can definitely see a difference between my regular skin and where the Line Filler was spread out. The product itself is like a silicone-gel texture, but it looks white initially. Once you sheer it out, though, it’s completely clear. So far, it seems like it really does work to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

For those of you who are concerned with wrinkles, I’d definitely suggest checking out this product. For those not so concerned, you may want to pass–if only because you may like how you look with it, but it does add one more step to your routine.

The second product in the line-up is the Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder ($21.00). For me, it really does feel quite a bit like MAC’s Invisible Set (PRO product), though you do get a lot less of it. It felt a little bit silkier in texture, but I didn’t notice any huge differences in terms of texture, look, etc. The Transparent Finishing Powder does what a finishing powder does: sets your makeup, reduce oil/shine, and help improve the wear time of your face makeup. It contains corn starch, silica, and mica. For those of you who love Make Up For Ever’s HD Powder, you might want to check this out. It definitely reminded me of it!

The last product is the Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone ($19.50), which I’ve heard a ton of MAC makeup artists rave about already. I didn’t get a chance to try this out yet, so stay tuned for a review on it when the launch hits stores next week.

Lipstick ($14.00)

• Show Orchid is a hot pink with a little bit of fuchsia-purple sheen to it. It’s richly pigmented, creamy, and opaque. It has a naturally glossy-sheen finish (though not overly so). It’s permanent at PRO stores.
• Impassioned is a bright hot pink with no shortage of pink. It’s creamy, intense in color, and opaque. It has just a little bit of glossness, but it’s mostly just creamy in finish. It’s permanent at MAC stores.

Eyeshadow ($14.50)

• Bitter is a velvety chartreuse yellow-green with just a touch of shimmer. It’s not really chalky, but it doesn’t have the greatest color pay off.
• White Frost is a frosty, shimmery white. It could be used as a highlighter, but I do find it has quite a bit of shimmer, which doesn’t make it ideal for my skin tone (as a highlighter).

Penultimate Eye Liner ($16.50)

• Rapid Black is a rich black felt-tipped pen liner. It works well for creating cat-eyes and lining the upper lash line. It does make lining easier than usual, because the felt-tip gives you more control than more traditional liquid liner brushes.
