Fyrinnae Edge of Space Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium purple with warmer, reddish undertones and cooler blue-violet shimmer and larger sparkle as the dominant color. It shifted to slightly cooler, bluish-violet over a silvery taupe to a warm plum. As a multichrome, the shift is most noticeable when the product is applied to a larger area or an area that has more curves (like the inner tearduct). The shimmer in this shade made it appear more dimensional regardless of how and where it shifted. The shift was visible to my eye in certain lighting (usually lower light), but it was less dramatic than some of the other Exquisites in the line.

The texture was noticeably bumpy on the surface of the product, which the brand actually warned about (“due to the main colorant ingredient being large particle sparkle, which doesn’t consistently press as evenly as smaller particle size blends”) but felt more loosely-pressed, drier, and more prone to excess product getting kicked up in the pan.

There was moderate fallout when applied with a dry brush, even when I was mindful to minimize the fallout by pressing gently onto my lid. It applied better with a fingertip, wet brush, or applied over a tacky base (like the brand’s Pixie Epoxy). The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation regardless of application method, as the method/base helped more for general smoothness and avoiding fallout. I found it was workable with a wet brush to get more opaque coverage that applied smoothly to my lid and had minimal fallout during application and over time. It wore well for eight hours on me before creasing very faintly.

Most of the shades had noticeable shift when swatched on my arm without having to strain myself to find the perfect angle and lighting source to see it. The latter was more the case with a few shades to get some of the more extreme shifts when the product was applied to my actual eye (lid space). The majority of shades have a creamier, denser, thicker consistency to them--they often felt packed with silicones (and dimethicone was typically the second ingredient, so it wasn't a surprise!) with some shades having a textured, uneven surface that was easily compacted into the pan. A few of those shades were harder to pick up later on and tended to work best with a wet brush or fingertips rather than dry brush.

Other shades were smoother, softer, and more forgiving--they felt more like typical powder eyeshadow. The shades with larger shimmer/sparkle had light to moderate fallout during application but had fairly good adhesion once on. The majority of shades were very pigmented on their own, but some definitely were best applied wet, with a fingertip, or applied over a tacky base (some shades explicitly say to use a tacky base with them). They wore between eight and nine hours on me with no to light fallout.

Idolize

Fyrinnae Idolize Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) has a dominant coloring of medium-dark, slightly cooler purple that can lean warmer and cooler depending on the light. It shifted from more violet purple to warmer purple to true plum to copper to warmer green.

It was incredibly challenging to actually see the green shift in person, especially on my lid; I could only detect it when looking down and holding a mirror much higher over my eye. I asked my husband to look for it (as it’s easier for someone looking at your eyelids to detect it), and he insisted there was absolutely no green anything happening. I definitely saw a good range of shift from cooler, blackened purple to brighter, shimmery violet to warmer plum (with a hint of brown/bronze). I did not think that it shifted any more noticeable when applied over a black base (I used an eyeliner).

The texture was smooth, dense without being too thick, and one of the easier shades to work with in the pressed Exquisites range. The eyeshadow applied well with a dry brush, wet brush, or fingertips, and it did not need a primer or tacky base to work well (some of the shades in this formula are explicitly recommended to be applied over a tacky base). It had rich pigmentation that adhered evenly to my lid without fallout during application. The color stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before creasing very faintly.
