Comments that do not adhere to our comment policy may be removed. Discussion and debate are highly encouraged but we expect community members to participate respectfully. Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I keep track of my monthly discretionary spend budget, that includes makeup/beauty, clothing, entertainment, home purchases, etc. but I don’t track makeup/beauty specifically.

I generally have an ‘idea’ – to put it very loosely, but certainly not specifically. I consider it an investment to stock up on beauty staples when the big deals are on – skincare as well. I rarely buy beauty items full price now like I used to in the past because there is always a deal down the road.

I’m Rouge and Platinum through 2018 so I don’t do a very good job of watching my spending. However, I’m determined to not be Rouge in 2019. Then I’ll work on my Platinum spending after that 😉.

“Other” :). Instead of a budget (the spending part), I Marie-Kondo the heck out of the choosing part of the process. It just sort of fell out that way :). Having unused palettes around makes me anxious, as does cluttering the shelf I have set aside for makeup. If an item makes it to that shelf, it’s leapt a bunch of hurdles… or it’s a random “Need It NOW” (the last one was Bite Beauty’s Kale lipstick. Why? No clue).

I try to and am aware of every item i do own cause I keep them super organized and like to rotate everyday but…act on impulse and is hard to resist temptation!
I think I’m going to be on a beauty diet the entire 2918 need to stay strong!

I don’t at all, at least not as its own category. I have a class of spending that I loosely think of as “stuff I don’t need, or things I don’t need to do,” which encompasses all non-necessities, and I have a cap on that. I can spend it all on makeup, or I can spend half on restaurants, 1/4 on wine, and 1/4 on movies, or none of the above. I mentally keep track of these things, which is not hard to do since I rarely shop or go out and tend to buy things I want in groups (all at once) rather than ones and twos here and there.
