Cosmoprof 2011 Day 2

I had an appointment with CND to try out their Shellac manicure, and you know me–I couldn’t commit both hands to 14-days of wear (that’s how long Shellac is supposed to wear!). I did want to try it out, though, and so I asked the lovely Kristina to do something fun and funky on the nails on my right hand. I wanted every nail to be different to maximize my time at CND, LOL! I know that when Shellac originally launched, the range of colors was rather classic/traditional, but they will launch several new shades in the fall (including the purple and teal shades I’m wearing above).

So far, I loved the process of Shellac, and if it does indeed wear for a full 14-days (or longer), it’s something I would do if I was a normal (aka, not a beauty blogger) person. They do a base coat, one to two layers of color coat, and a top coat. The base coat takes 10 seconds to cure, while the color coats take two minutes. When you’re done, they’re done. Kristina said that she often has her first-time Shellac-ers pay her afterward, because she wants them to dig through their purse and see how it’s totally dry.

On the pinky, I have Purple Purple; on the ring finger, I have Hotski to Tchotchke with Zillionaire layered over it (multifaceted flaky glitter); on the middle, I’m still trying to figure that out; on the index, it’s Hot Pop Pink with loose glitter put on over the color coat and sealed with two layers of top coat (totally smooth); and in the thumb, it’s Asphalt that’s been buffed to make it matte and dabs of the top coat for 3D polka dots.

<del>Better and more photos to come!</del> Check ’em out here! The best part about the 14-day wear is that I can take photos at home under my normal lighting conditions, haha!
