Clionadh Shard Hybrid Multichrome Eyeshadow ($12.50 for 0.05 oz.) has a brownish base that shifted from brighter, reddish-plum to deeper plum to bluish-teal paired with a sparkling, metallic finish. Per the brand, it has a “turquoise-indigo-violet-red and hints of orange” shift. I felt like that “hint” of orange came around the edge, almost like a bit of shimmer/warmth coming through at times, but it didn’t read “shift” to my eyes in person.

It had a smoother, slightly more emollient consistency compared to most of the Hybrids, though it was still quite sparkly in addition to have a high-shine, smooth metallic finish. It was more loosely-pressed but had a good amount of binder to it, so the powder itself adhered well to bare skin and blended out with ease without much in the way of fallout, even when I used a dry brush to do so.

The brand-recommended methods for application are fingertips and dampened brush for highest coverage/lowest fallout, which would be the way to go, but a dry brush was still pretty easy to work with. It had opaque coverage applied with fingertips and a dampened brush and more semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a dry brush. This shade stayed on well for nine hours before fading a bit and had a touch of fallout over time.

Formula Overview

$12.50/0.05 oz. - $250.00 Per Ounce

This formula is described as being between the Jewelled and Glitter Multichrome formulas. They have "small/medium particle glitters" but with more of "the tones" of the Jewelled Multichromes. They can be used as a wash of "sparkle over the lid" or "packed on for full saturation."

The Jewelled Multichromes are opaque and can be applied with fingertips or a dense packing/shader brush, while the Glitter Multichromes have varying levels of opacity (the brand specifies on their site) that can be applied with fingertips or a dampened brush.

The texture was more loosely-pressed and less cream-like compared to the Jewelled Multichromes but was creamier and a bit more emollient than the Glitter Multichromes. They were mostly opaque to opaque in coverage applied with a fingertip or a wet brush and more semi-opaque and buildable with a dry brush. I didn't feel like I had to use a fingertip or a dampened brush in order to achieve higher coverage. I'd recommend pressing/patting the product on when using a brush to minimize or to avoid fallout.

The finish ranges from shiny with light sparkle to shiny with more moderate sparkle, and for as much sparkle as the formula has, there was little fallout during application and throughout the wear. The eyeshadows applied evenly to bare skin, blended out easily, and were definitely more user-friendly (and foolproof) compared to the Jewelled Multichromes, which I think aren't difficult but have a learning curve if you have not worked with black-based Multichromes before.

They lasted between eight and nine hours on me with minimal fallout, if any, over time.

Clionadh Tapestry Hybrid Multichrome Eyeshadow ($12.50 for 0.05 oz.) has a grayish base that shifted from bluish-teal to purplish-blue to purple to warmer purple paired with a sparkling, metallic finish that seemed extra shiny. Per the brand, it has a “blue-indigo-violet” shift. It had a very visible shift swatched and applied to the lid, and I could clearly see the transition between the three shifts the brand called out.

The texture was fairly smooth (despite being packed with sparkle!), loosely-pressed and more delicate (don’t use a heavy-hand!), but the actual formula still had a lot of binder to it, so it was more likely to come off in a larger “flake” of product rather than as fairy dust if used too roughly. I’ve found that this goes a long way to improving application and ensuring that the product actually adheres, the sparkles lay flatter (better wear and less fallout), and made it a more user-friendly product than a lot of sparkly products on the market.

It had nearly opaque color coverage applied with a fingertip or a dampened brush, which are the recommended methods (by brand) for application. When I used a dry brush, I was able to get more medium to semi-opaque, buildable coverage when pressed and patted into place. I didn’t find using a dry brush was harder or anything like that so it was actually my preferred method for simplicity and precision. There was a smidgen of fallout during application, and while the base color lasted for a solid nine hours, there was a touch of additional fallout by the end of wear–still an impressive lack of fallout given just how shiny and sparkly the finish was.
