Clé de Peau Stellar Gaze (307) Eyeshadow Quad ($55.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a set of four, warm-toned autumnal shades that range from gold to plum. The texture of the eyeshadows is soft, velvety, lightly creamy and silky, while being incredibly blendable. They feel smooth to the touch, and the finishes are particularly flattering on the eyelid–think a luminous, glowy highlighter that adds life but doesn’t accentuate pores–this is in the same vein, just for the eyes. All four shades lasted for eight and a half hours, and the first three shades had really nice color payoff, but the last–the plum–shade was a little less pigmented. Overall, it’s a nice quad, though the shades are more dupable than not, so it may not be particularly interesting to some unless it’s a go-to combination.

Each of the eyeshadow quads is available as a “refill” so it is just the set of eyeshadows, and you can purchase the case (here) for $25, which comes with two dual-ended sponge-tipped applicators. I put all of my eyeshadow quads into a Z-palette (see a photo of it here), but I do have two cases from the two eyeshadow quads I received as samples (I bought six quads, which is a statement on how enamored I was after trying two), so you’ll see it in the post for those interested in purchasing the two together.

Stellar Gaze #1 is a slightly muted, medium yellow gold with a soft, frosted finish and warm undertones. It had good color payoff with a silky, smooth texture that was easy to apply and blended out beautifully on the skin. This shade wore well for eight hours on me. Dior Trafalgar #4 (P) is cooler-toned. Milani Bella Sand (02) (P, $3.99) is more shimmery. bareMinerals Golden Coast (LE) is less shimmery. Makeup Geek Bleached Blonde (P, $5.99) is slightly darker. Stellar Gaze #2 is a medium-dark, gold-shimmered brown with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had great pigmentation that went on evenly and was easy to work with. The consistency was soft, finely-milled, and buttery to the touch. This shade wore well for eight and a half hours before fading on me. Tarte Keepsake Frame (LE) is lighter. Make Up For Ever ME644 Iced Brown (P, $21.00) is more metallic. Make Up For Ever D640 Golden Snake (P, $21.00) is darker, cooler-toned. Stellar Gaze #3 is a brightened, medium-dark copper with hints of brown and a frosted sheen. It had full color coverage with a blendable, soft, buttery texture that made application a breeze. The eyeshadow stayed on well for eight hours before fading slightly.

Stellar Gaze #4 is a medium-dark, warm-toned plum with a pearly sheen. It had good color payoff, and the texture was soft and smooth, though a smidgen powdery compared to the other shades.
