Cle de Peau #117 Extra Silky Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches
Cle de Peau #117 Extra Silky Lipstick
The Sultry Season: Cle de Peau #117 Extra Silky Lipstick
Cle de Peau #117 Extra Silky Lipstick ($52.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a creamy darkened raspberry with a plummy edge. Extra Silky Lipsticks are one of my favorite lipstick formulas, for their lightweight feel, moisturizing properties, and the way colors look on. It hugs lips but never feels drying or clingy; it always looks smooth, lush, and rich. I haven’t met an Extra Silky shade I didn’t find appealing–nearly universally so. The color applies opaque, even though it feels and looks like it might not in the swatch.
I recommend applying less than you think, because it’s easy to over-apply the product here due to the creamy nature of the formula. At this price (and the amount you get), you don’t want to waste a single bit! These are also scent- and taste-free as far as I can tell. I don’t have any exact dupes at the moment, but perhaps as the series progresses, we’ll find something.
Is this the right vamp for you? Would you wear it?
The Sultry Season is a series of posts featuring deep, rich shades of brown, berry, plum, and wine lipsticks and lipglosses — just right for autumn — that runs through October 2010.
I would not wear it, but it looks great on you. 🙂
Thanks, Desiree!
Very nice colour, this one, Christine.
Very flattering too. I think this would suit most people.
Wow! Love it!
This is stunning
I really like the color!
It’s gorgeous!
The thing I don’t like about this product is the price.
This is very pretty, but for some reason I can’t stand lipsticks that don’t have a color name, only a number. I won’t buy #117 but I would buy a name like “Sultry Raspberry”, lol!
YES, YES and defintely YES. This is a perfect shade, it shows some color but it’s not too much. If money were no object for me right now I’d get it!
Very pretty color, but not for this price!
Looks absolutely gorgeous on you!
Thanks a lot, Magda!
Gorgeous colour and creamy texture. That aside, I would never pay $52.00 for a lipstick. That is outrageous. Lipsticks are one of the cheapest makeup products to make!
oh my gosh SOSOSO GORGEOUS. the price…not so gorgeous LOL
It looks like Twig, but glossier 🙂 I love Twig!
Twig is so brown on me!
I said ‘leave it.’ Don’t get me wrong this is a BEAUTIFUL color and it looks fantastic on you! I would NEVER ever pay that much for a lipstick though. NEvvvvverrr!!! >.< Maybe one day, but today I will pass.
This is absolutely gorgeous! Is there a MAC dupe for this? Cle de Peau is a bit too expensive for me (& I don’t know whether it is available in my country).
Hi Marjan,
I think I mentioned it in the post, but I don’t have any dupes for this yet.
I think L’Oreal or Revlon could have something similar
Both brands have rather extensive lines, so are there particular shades you think might work?
i bought one from L’OREAL from “Color Riche Star Secrets” and is called MILLA PURPLE
Thanks!
maybe the christian dior serum raspberry matches!
MAC’s Captive shows up the same way on me… so it may work.
Same here, this looks really similar to Captive.
That is an absolutely gorgeous color, and it just looks really lush and moisturizing. I wish I could afford it *cries.*
This is sooo pretty, but I think it would be too red on my lips. Is there something that is similar but maybe lighter? Thanks!
I’m not sure about another shade in this line!
I love, love, love this color but am not willing to pay that much for a lipstick. : (
This is a really wonderful color. ♥
so beautiful but soooooo expensive! this brand is popular among the japanese socialite!
wow!this lipstick looks gorgeous!unfortunately I live in europe and can not by it.
Gorgeous Color!! Looks great on you! Do you think its worth the cost????
Yes and no. I think when you find THEEE perfect shade, yes, it can be.
That color looks beautiful on you, Christine!
Thanks, Kristi!
Benefit Full Finish lipstick in La La Land shows up pretty much the same on me. Could be a dupe
Christine
Where can I find this brand? Thanks
I get mine at Nordstrom!
I love CdP but hate the prices. It’s really a luxury brand in all senses of the term. How do you feel it compares to Dior Serum de Rouge?
It’s better than Serum de Rouge, but Dior’s IS similar. I find Cle de Peau’s wears better and longer, but Dior’s has a comparable formula and comes in at what… $15 cheaper.
Thanks for your input! 🙂 “I know it’s $15 cheaper but I still want to the CdP version,” says ApplePark, makeup addict.
Hey, if you can swing it.. 😉 I always find it hard to go for the dupe, just because I want the “real thing,” LOL.
Love this shade on you! Too bad it’s so pricey 🙁
Thank you! I know 🙁 Hopefully we can find a dupe.
Oh. My. God. That colour is amazing!
The closest dupe I have is Jordana Grape, which is slightly more mauve (and not nearly so gloriously creamy looking)… That is pretty spectacular though! We don’t have Cle de Peau in NZ but if we did, expect to pay over $100 for it – here, even a Chanel lipstick is more than $45 🙁
(still, it’s nice to at least have the option I guess!)
Whew, $100 lipstick. Catch me, I’m falling!
It looks very nice. I can just imagine how it feels. The price breaks my heart though.
hhhmmm. maybe the summer season ending wasn’t the worst thing. Christine, can you please tell me how the numbers on the MAC products (ex:A68) are turned into dates? And if I’m warm toned should i be using the NW instead of the NC? thanks!
The letter indicates the batch number (A = first, B = second), while the second number/letter indicates the month (1-9 = January through September; A = October, B = November, C = December), and the last number is the year it was made.
Warm tones use NC 🙂
oh my i love this lippie……this is not vampish…..
It’s beautiful…but not 52 bucks beautiful!!
This color is very nice on you, very natural looking. It really complements your complexion! Natural looking colors are always the best, probably why I like those colors. 🙂
Thanks so much, Lana!
This color is absolutely stunning. Christine, I blame you for my Cle de Peau addiction! Lol! Seriously, I do love the formula for the Extra Silky lipsticks – I have #124 and it is a dream to wear. Do you think #117 is too dark for a modified smoky eye? Not full-on black smoky eye, but a more subtle smoky eye?
LOL! My bad!
No, I don’t think it would be too dark!
this is beautiful! but the price is too steep for me.
this is beautiful! but the price is too steep for me. Someone please find us a dupe!! 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous. I think $52 on a lipstick is out of my price range though :\
thanks for all the info christine; yours is really the most efficiently managed beauty blog I have ever seen
Thank you, Inaya!
Hi Christine…I was wondering if the Silky Lipsticks have a scent to them? Also, have you found a MLBB shade in the Silky Lipstick yet? TY and keep up the good work on your blog! I ♥ it!
Scent-free!
This shade is gorgeous!!! I love it! It’s a tad conservative which usually isn’t my style, but I’d snag this in a second.
ooohhhh I WANT this!!!! will trade 1st born or spin straw into gold.
this is probably my fav lipstick I’ve seen in ages.
i have a bourjois 3D lipgloss in the exact shade!
