Glowing, Pretty

Charlotte Tilbury Glowing, Pretty Skin Palette ($75.00 for 0.54 oz.) includes five cheek colors and one setting powder (Medium). While I can understand the inclusion of a finishing powder… I don’t understand it so much in a release where there’s just one palette to choose from, since the finishing powder is flesh-toned and not translucent. In larger cheek palettes, there are often shades that may or may not work for a single skin tone, but everything about this palette seemed geared toward fair to light skin tones. I did not find that the powders felt as smooth or as finely-milled as the brand’s standalone blushes , bronzers/contours, and highlighters.

Medium (2)

Medium (2) is a soft, light-medium yellow with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It is supposed to “prevent excess shine and brighten complexions.” It is a shade from a permanent formula, which also includes Fair and Dark shades. Medium is too dark for my complexion to apply all-over (I find Fair to be too light). It added warmth to my complexion, more like a subtle bronzer, with a very soft, slightly drier texture. I did not feel it was as velvety or as finely-milled as the permanent version. It did mattify and smooth out the area I applied it, though, and it seemed to stave off shine for a little longer than usual.

Pretty

Pretty is a pop of light-medium pink with warm undertones and a fine, golden sheen. It had good pigmentation that applied evenly and blended out easily on my skin. The texture was soft, slightly dusty in the pan, and it seemed to darken slightly within a few minutes of wearing it. The color lasted well for eight hours on me.

Illuminating Glow

Illuminating Glow is a light peach with a hint of pink and a luminous sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation but a very strong white base that significantly lightened the color when applied to the skin (compared to how it appeared in the pan). The consistency was soft, slightly dusty, and thinner, but it blended out without trouble and wore well on my skin for seven and a half hours. The finish was rather subtle and only visible at certain angles or under the right lighting conditions.

Bronze and Contour

Bronze and Contour is a soft, very light brown with warm undertones and a satin finish. It added a hint of color and definition on my skin tone (light to light-medium), so if you’re more medium in complexion or deeper, it may not show up at all. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation a a soft, dusty texture that was a bit thinner and less velvety compared to most of the brand’s powder products. The powder blended out well and stayed on for eight hours on me.

Summer

Summer is a light-medium pink with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had opaque color coverage with a soft, velvety consistency that was smooth and blendable. The blush applied well to bare skin and wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Highlighting Glow

Highlighting Glow is a light gold with warm, yellow undertones and a sparkling sheen. It had medium, buildable pigmentation with a drier, thinner texture. It was buildable, though, and the more I layered on, the more metallic the finish read on my skin (but did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture). It lasted well for seven and a half hours on me.

I purchased this on the first day of the early access sale and I’m happy to see that I don’t have ANY dupes except for Orgasm in the liquid which I never use anyway. It was my first Charlotte Tilbury color purchase and so far I’m very pleased with it.

The Medium powder works fine for me- Overall, it was a great buy at $75.

This is basically what every youtuber iv watched has said – it’s pretty but VERY exclusive/limiting with the shades used.

I do not understand releasing one face palette and thinking it will work on everyone.

Exactly what I thought. I’m light to medium, and all the CT products are too yellow/warm for me. The big brands get a lot of flak for being non-inclusive, but the more exclusive, smaller ranges seem to be able to do as they please, without the media scrutiny.

I do think that big blush/bronzer palettes like this are dated now – it’s just too hard to get everyone’s individual shades and preferences into one size fits all palette.
Besides, the product isn’t all that great for the price either

I agree, Genevieve. To be honest, they’ve never worked for me because they always, always seem to contain colours that just don’t work for me at all (a combination of warm, peach shades and cool, pink or rose toned ones just make no sense for someone like me who can’t really pull off the warmer toned blushes).

Do you think it will absolutely not show up at all on medium skin tones? I use the powder in medium shade as under eye setting powder sometimes and for touch ups (fair is too light and deep is darker for me.) I was so so excited for this palette when I saw it in catalogue and was waiting for your review honestly and now I’m really sad about the bronzer being too light!!!! Thank you for your honest review 🙂

Maybe? I’d consider myself on the lighter side of light-medium for reference. I find that “medium” can mean about three shades to some, so it can be hard to judge.

I’ve been going down the Charlotte Tilbury rabbit hole lately, and so I did purchase this. The blushes are warm but powdery, not the same as the blushes in her regular line. I am light to light medium, and the powder seemed a little dark for me and the bronzer barely showed up at all. Highlighters were ok, but I had recently purchased her ‘bar of gold trios’ that she just released so they did not compare. I ended up taking it back….

The blushes are very pretty but maybe I should just pick up one of her blushes instead. I just remembered that I have one the all in one palettes. I should definitely pull it out. The blush is just so small that it’s hard to pick it up on a brush and I remember being a bit underwhelmed.

I’m sure someone already mentioned this, but “Tilbury” is misspelled in the title. You don’t have to post this comment — just wanted you to know if you weren’t already aware.

The colors of this palette would work very well for me, except the powder would be much too dark (though it would be great as a neutral — for me — naked-look eye shadow). But I don’t need it, so … not interested.

Even at half or 1/3 its price, this is typical of the type of cheek palette that simply wouldn’t work for me (well, wouldn’t work easily for me) – the blush shades are too warm and peachy for me and that’s just for starters.

Besides CT lipsticks and lip pencils, I am not a fan of her products. I have tried many over the years and find most to be very over-rated, IMHO. I do think the Filmstar Bronze and Glow is nice and my daughter is very happy with the duo but the highlighter is too dark for me. I don’t understand brands that put out one of these “all in one” face palettes and then actually expect that to work. So crazy, short-sighted and frustrating. As the mother of a makeup lover who is in the middle of the medium shade range it is very hurtful for her to try and find products from companies like CT who seriously cater to the very pale or at the most a light medium skin tone. I have stopped purchasing from many brands for that reason. I doubt CT will miss my business as I never purchased that much, LOL! She and I will probably cave the next time a really pretty shade of lipstick comes out though!
