Chanel Provocation and Starlet Le Vernis Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Chanel Provocation Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is a deep, purple burgundy with a cream finish. The polish applied flawlessly without bubbling, streaking, or pooling along the edges. It had a nicely balanced consistency that wasn’t too thick or too thin, so it was fully opaque in two coats and spread evenly across the nail. I typically get a week of wear out of Chanel’s lacquer formula with minor tip wear but no chipping. I believe this shade was previously released, as well, so you may have it in your stash. Urban Decay Wrecked is darker. MAC Purple Majesty is darker. MAC Blueblood is also darker. Chanel Accessoire is a bit darker, less purple. Rescue Beauty Lounge Drifter is nearly the same. China Glaze Velvet Bow is redder. Zoya Anja is very similar, slightly darker. See comparison swatches.

Starlet Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is a warm-toned, coral with a hint of pink and a subtle pearl. I think this shade may be particularly flattering on cooler complexions, as it really pulls an odd red tone out of my warmer complexion. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, and it was opaque after I applied two coats. It was easy to apply, and I didn’t have any trouble with the color streaking or bubbling. Butter London Trout Pout was the only shade that was really similar that I could think of, though it’s warmer. China Glaze Pink Plumeria is several shades darker and pinker. See comparison swatches.

I got a Starlet, it’s seriously amazing shade, and it’s not the shade where you can find a lot of dupes, so it was worth the money. Really enjoying it 🙂

Starlet is really pretty, but it looks so much like Revlon Demure. Too bad Starlet is LE… I would have love to have been able to buy it when I run out of Demure, but I can’t justify getting it when I have a nearly full bottle of Demure now! Oh well!

I like provocation, it looks very Royal to me, it is a gorgeous shade and I like it better compared to the dupes. Starlet is pretty too but provocation stands out more to me 🙂 .

Starlet is unbelievably beautiful. It looks so amazing in the bottle, I had the bottle on my dining room table for a week after I bought it just so I could look at it every time I passed through. Ah! 😀 It’s a pity it doesn’t fully translate to the nails; I do get somewhat the pearl effect, but the gold shimmer (or is that the pearl effect?) is almost impossibly to see, even close up, at an angle or under strong light. I have almost every Chanel coral polish released in the last 2 years and since I bought Starlet I find myself ignoring all others. 🙂
