Chanel French Toffee (83) Aqualumiere Gloss ($27.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a warm, champagne-shimmered, golden beige. The base color really doesn’t do much–at best, adds a little warmth–but it does have a noticeable amount of very fine beige and gold shimmers, plus a very glossy shine. MAC Soft Serenade is warmer. Revlon Peach is slightly darker. MAC Sublime Shine is similar. MAC Satin Slip is more shimmery. See comparison swatches.

Friandise (82) Aqualumiere Gloss ($27.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a warm-toned, strawberry pink with multi-colored shimmer and sparkle. This had more semi-sheer to semi-opaque color payoff with a noticeable base color that brightened and tinted my natural lip color and a good dosage of shimmer and sparkle. MAC Fever Isle is less shimmery, brighter. Dior Paradise is warmer, less pink. Guerlain Frizzy Mango is less shimmery. Burberry Cameo Pink is more golden. See comparison swatches.

If you aren’t familiar with the Aqualumiere Gloss formula, it’s a high-shine, sheer gloss (in fact, Chanel describes it as a “sheer wash of colour”) that gives the illusion of fuller lips (because of all the shine).  The texture is smooth, non-sticky, and not too thick or too thin.  They’re very comfortable on, and they’re lightly moisturizing.  The downside is really that these don’t wear very long on me, with French Toffee disappearing after less than two hours and Friandise barely making it to three.  They have a brush-type applicator, and I didn’t detect any scent or flavor when I tried these two.
