Both shades reviewed in this post are from Chanel’s spring collection, and they’ll be added to the permanent range, so there’s no need to rush. Charivari was more unique relative to polishes I’ve come across over the years, whereas Tapage, while high quality and incredibly pigmented, was easier to find dupes for. I had no issues with application or pigmentation with either hue, though, and they’re just what you’d like to see from a high-end polish formula. The consistencies weren’t too thick or too thin, so they flowed evenly across the nail without streaking, bubbling, or pooling along the edges. I typically get a week of wear out of Chanel’s formula, but take that with a grain of salt as next to nothing chips on me.

Chanel Charivari (603) Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “soft purple/mauve.” It’s a smoky, plummy-purple with a cream finish and subtle warm undertones. It was fully opaque after two coats, and it applied beautifully. NARS Manosque (LE, $19.00) is lighter. MAC Dark Angel (LE, $16.00) is cooler-toned. Dior Shadow (LE, $24.00) is much darker, has slight shimmer. China Glaze Urban Night (LE, $7.50) is cooler-toned. China Glaze Jungle Queen (LE, $7.50) is darker, less plum. See comparison swatches.

Tapage (605) Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright pink.” It’s a vibrant, coral-red with a cream finish. It’s nearly opaque in a single coat, but for a really high-shine, plush look, I’d recommend still going with two. Rescue Beauty Lounge Smile (LE, $20.00) has slight shimmer. MAC Vivid Effect (LE, $16.00) is slightly lighter. Guerlain Champs-Elysees (P, $23.00) is less warm-toned. Guerlain A La Parisienne (P, $23.00) is similar. Dior Merveille (LE, $24.00) is slightly shimmery. China Glaze Poinsettia (LE, $7.50) is similar. China Glaze Hey Sailor (LE, $7.50) is redder. Essie Too Too Hot (LE, $8.00) is redder.
