BEYONCE KNOWLESshows us that a celebrity does, in fact, wear a bold eye from time to time. She keeps her face looking incredibly natural, so as to not distract from her eyes, which are the focal point of her look. It is important to do your best to achieve flawless skin without looking cakey. We always recommend the same technique whenever working with liquid foundation because it gives you an airbrushed look when all is said and done, so we can’t help but recommend it here. Her face has a matte-quality to it, so we like MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid or Make Up Forever’s Mat+ Velvet. Use a concealer brush like the 194 to apply dabs of foundation to your cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. Spritz a blush or buffer brush like the 129, 150, or 182 with water (Fix+ if you have it) and blend out the dabs of foundation to even out the coverage. By dampening your brush with just a touch of water, you can use less foundation and achieve better coverage; less foundation means less chance of looking like you’re wearing it. Knowles has barely-blushed cheeks that are more or less deeper than her natural color, so it looks incredibly natural. You could replicate this effect by using a subtle bronzer or a blush like MAC’s Gingerly.

With stunning eyes like these, I can’t help but see MAC’s Deep Truth eyeshadow all over her lid. It’s imperative to use a good base when doing this look, whether you use Urban Decay’s Primer Potion or another cult favorite. I personally would use MAC’s Cornflower pigment with a touch of water-based mixing medium to really make this look zing. Once you have your base down, apply MAC’s Deep Truth eyeshadow all over lid with the 239 brush. Towards the inner portion of the lid, brighten the blue with MAC’s Freshwater eyeshadowwith the 239 brush; it’ll give you a very subtle gradient of blue. If you’re feeling particularly daring, try just a smidge of Carbon eyeshadow in the outer crease, smoked out, using the 239 brush. Choose your favorite highlighter shadow (we like MAC’s Malt here) and apply it liberally from crease to brow, paying special attention to the crease area to blend out the harsh line of blue. Line lower lash line with a dark gray liner, like MAC’s Greyprint technakohl. Mascara should be applied mostly to lower lashes, but it can be applied to upper lashes as well for completeness. Knowles is able to get her wide-eyes by her luxurious lashes, which are false lashes. We recommend trying out MAC’s #6 lashes to get the same effect–dramatic, lengthy, and oh-so-voluminous.

As we mentioned, the eyes are the focus in this look, which means lips are kept soft and sultry, not over the top. It seems like Knowles is wearing a my-lips-but-better lipstick, which can vary from person to person. However, a great sheer pink lipstick is MAC’s Sweetie; it will go on quite sheerly and pull from your natural lip color to give you a great looking pout (for a matching liner, try MAC’s Pink Treat cremestick liner). Top with MAC’s Oyster Girl lipglass (any shimmery, shiny gloss will do, though!) and you’ll be the center of attention all night long.
