Bite Beauty Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a recently released set of four shades (I reviewed two here, and this post features the other two shades) “inspired by the ever-changing color of a rose.” They’re creamy, light-medium in weight, richly pigmented, hydrating, and wear well. The formula is rose-scented, but I didn’t have any issues with taste. In all honesty, the formula didn’t really seem any different from the Luminous Creme lipstick, but an attempt to read through the ingredient list on this one (which is difficult to read on this packaging), while it is similar to the Luminous Creme, doesn’t appear to be exactly the same.

Bite Beauty Damask Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “rosy pink.” It’s a brightened, medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a glossy shine. This one seemed glossier than the other shades, but it still applied evenly and smoothly with full color coverage. This shade lasted for four hours on me. Sephora Collection Flamingo (LE, $12.50) is lighter, brighter. Revlon Snow Peach (LE, $7.99) is warmer, less pink. MAC Be a Lady (P, $22.00) is slightly warmer. Bite Beauty Sweety (LE, $24.00) is pinker, matte. Tom Ford Beauty Paradiso (07) (LE, $49.00) is darker, warmer. YSL Caress Pink (9) (P, $34.00) is very similar. Givenchy Rose Taffetas (201) (P, $36.00) is less glossy. MAC Hoop (DC, $16.00) is lighter, more matte. Chanel Hyde Park (LE, $34.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bite Beauty Crimson Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “muted dark purple.” It’s a bold, brightened, medium-dark berry-red with cool, blue undertones. It’s one of those shades that seems red, fuchsia, plum, and berry all at the same time. It had rich, opaque pigmentation and applied very evenly and smoothly to the lip without streaking or settling into lip lines. This shade wore well for six hours and left a stain behind. Guerlain Rose Grenat (864) (LE, $51.00) is lighter. YSL Exquisite Plum (22) (P, $34.00) is darker, sheerer. YSL Forbidden Burgundy (12) (P, $34.00) is darker, cooler-toned. MAC Commotion (LE, $20.00) is sheerer. Too Faced Jelly Bean (P, $21.00) is slightly cooler-toned, brighter. MAC Pleasure Bomb (LE, $16.00) is brighter, more matte. Guerlain Provocative (863) (LE, $51.00) is slightly brighter. MAC All Fired Up (P, $16.00) is more matte. Marc Jacobs Beauty Seduce Me (128) (P, $30.00) is darker. Urban Decay Catfight (P, $22.00) is warmer. MAC Lush Life (P, $22.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Picked up two of Bite’s matte lip cream crayons and loved them! Really want to try these lipsticks too.
(Btw, noticed that both lipsticks are written as “Bite Beauty Damask Deconstructed Rose Lipstick” in the review section).

I second that! Cherries in the Snow is also really similar to UD Cat fight which is listed as a dupe. And since I have both of those, I guess that means I can probably skip this one.

Ok i checked again and i think Cherries is more fuchsia whereas this is slightly red (more berry?) but it is similar to the dupes that are listed and i think layering with a red lipstick would make them pretty close.

Yeah, all four were dewy coming out of the tube, and I think it was like 100+ degrees around me, so I just assumed that was the cause (they were on a plane to me, so there were more dramatic fluctuations in temperature, which I’ve heard can cause it). I’ve had it on other lipsticks, and it never seems to be an issue with respect to the formula, just visually!

It’s a shame that other lipstick companies can’t use healthy food grade ingredients in their lipsticks like Bite. I own about 15 lip products from them and my collection is growing.

I just bought Damask at Sephora—love it! I’m glad I saw the review this morning because it looked a bit darker in the tube…I might not have tried it otherwise. It leaves a nice stain on my lips so it doesn’t seem like something I’ll have to worry about reapplying constantly.

Both of these are super pretty, especially Crimson 😀 Say, soes the ingredient list for Crimson actually include carmine? It’s as close as you get to actual kermes carmine (crimson; adding a sugar moiety to the molecule) in makeup!

(sorry for the random geek-out – I am literally writing my PhD on these pigments).

I’ve never tried this brand before but based on this review I ordered the Crimson lipstick and the Cashmere Lip Cream Crush previously reviewed… they look gorgeous and Temptalia has never steered me wrong… can’t wait for these items to be delivered! Thanks Christine!

I think Crimson looks absolutely stunning on you, Christine….one of the nicest lippies I’ve seen on you in recent weeks (and you’ve worn a lot of awfully pretty lipsticks!). I have to check this one out. I love Bite lipsticks generally and wanted to treat myself to one that was a dupe for either MAC Lustering or Plumful but I may go with Crimson just for the purely gorgeous heck of it.

I ordered 3 of these (these 2 and the coral) and had to return them. I was SO sad! They are gorgeous but I could NOT get past the smell. It was an awful synthetic rose smell and the taste wouldn’t go away for me. I’ve never had any issue at all with fragrance in cosmetics, not YSL or Guerlain or anything so when I read it had a smell I thought nothing of it. I don’t know why this one bothered me. I could still smell it while it was on my lips and it gave me a headache it smelled so fake! This is the first and only time that’s happened! It was so disappointing. I love Bite.

I haven’t tried Dior lipsticks (just the lip maestros) or the glosses but now I know to be wary before potentially impulse buying! Thanks! Is the deconstructed gloss scent stronger than these lipsticks?
