Bite Beauty Damask & Crimson Deconstructed Rose Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Bite Beauty Damask Deconstructed Rose Lipstick
Bite Beauty Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a recently released set of four shades (I reviewed two here, and this post features the other two shades) “inspired by the ever-changing color of a rose.” They’re creamy, light-medium in weight, richly pigmented, hydrating, and wear well. The formula is rose-scented, but I didn’t have any issues with taste. In all honesty, the formula didn’t really seem any different from the Luminous Creme lipstick, but an attempt to read through the ingredient list on this one (which is difficult to read on this packaging), while it is similar to the Luminous Creme, doesn’t appear to be exactly the same.
Bite Beauty Damask Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “rosy pink.” It’s a brightened, medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a glossy shine. This one seemed glossier than the other shades, but it still applied evenly and smoothly with full color coverage. This shade lasted for four hours on me. Sephora Collection Flamingo (LE, $12.50) is lighter, brighter. Revlon Snow Peach (LE, $7.99) is warmer, less pink. MAC Be a Lady (P, $22.00) is slightly warmer. Bite Beauty Sweety (LE, $24.00) is pinker, matte. Tom Ford Beauty Paradiso (07) (LE, $49.00) is darker, warmer. YSL Caress Pink (9) (P, $34.00) is very similar. Givenchy Rose Taffetas (201) (P, $36.00) is less glossy. MAC Hoop (DC, $16.00) is lighter, more matte. Chanel Hyde Park (LE, $34.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Bite Beauty Crimson Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “muted dark purple.” It’s a bold, brightened, medium-dark berry-red with cool, blue undertones. It’s one of those shades that seems red, fuchsia, plum, and berry all at the same time. It had rich, opaque pigmentation and applied very evenly and smoothly to the lip without streaking or settling into lip lines. This shade wore well for six hours and left a stain behind. Guerlain Rose Grenat (864) (LE, $51.00) is lighter. YSL Exquisite Plum (22) (P, $34.00) is darker, sheerer. YSL Forbidden Burgundy (12) (P, $34.00) is darker, cooler-toned. MAC Commotion (LE, $20.00) is sheerer. Too Faced Jelly Bean (P, $21.00) is slightly cooler-toned, brighter. MAC Pleasure Bomb (LE, $16.00) is brighter, more matte. Guerlain Provocative (863) (LE, $51.00) is slightly brighter. MAC All Fired Up (P, $16.00) is more matte. Marc Jacobs Beauty Seduce Me (128) (P, $30.00) is darker. Urban Decay Catfight (P, $22.00) is warmer. MAC Lush Life (P, $22.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Crimson is gorgeous!
It is!
Picked up two of Bite’s matte lip cream crayons and loved them! Really want to try these lipsticks too.
(Btw, noticed that both lipsticks are written as “Bite Beauty Damask Deconstructed Rose Lipstick” in the review section).
Fixed! Thanks!
Crimson i love you! It’ s a shame Bite is unavailable here..:(
Aww! 🙁
Both of these are my favorite kind of colors! Now all I have to do is place another order! 😛 Someone is going to go broke!
Oops! Hopefully I can save you from something in the future instead 😉
That settles that. I need Crimson.
Haha! 😉
*gasp* Damask is puh-reeetteh…
It is nice!
Second one reminds me of Revlon Cherries in the Snow
Good to know!
I second that! Cherries in the Snow is also really similar to UD Cat fight which is listed as a dupe. And since I have both of those, I guess that means I can probably skip this one.
Ok i checked again and i think Cherries is more fuchsia whereas this is slightly red (more berry?) but it is similar to the dupes that are listed and i think layering with a red lipstick would make them pretty close.
Very pretty!! 🙂 YOu are bad for my wallet!! eeesh.. :/
Aww, sorry!
Oh crap..I knew you were going to pull this stunt ;).. last night I picked up Centifolia–decided on it versus the more neon Sephora– and was desperately trying to ignore the other colours in the deconstructed rose offerings.. damn you.. these are gorgeous..sigh
I’m almost certain you have dupes, so you could totally resist…
Both gorgeous shades! I will definitely checkout Bite next time I cross the ocean!
Hope you like ’em!
Loving Crimson!
Sounds like that one is catching everyone’s eyes!
It looks stunning on you Christine. I already have YSL’s Forbidden Burgundy so I’m guessing that I can skip this 😉
Oh, my! These are gorgeous shades! I’m in love with Crimson. 😉
It is very nice!
I see that yours were a bit “dewy” coming out of the tube as well. Doesn’t seem to affect the lipstick itself, though. Crimson is a new favourite of mine. I love everything about it and I agree that it absolutely earns an A+
Yeah, all four were dewy coming out of the tube, and I think it was like 100+ degrees around me, so I just assumed that was the cause (they were on a plane to me, so there were more dramatic fluctuations in temperature, which I’ve heard can cause it). I’ve had it on other lipsticks, and it never seems to be an issue with respect to the formula, just visually!
I am really digging the texture…. I wish Bite was available here 🙁
Aww!
I love Damask. Christine will you be reviewing Bite Beauty Lilac lipstick it’s listed on Sephora as Ltd edt.
Sorry, I don’t think I have that!
I had a feeling I would like these too. The colors are dupable but the formula sounds so nice! I’ve yet to try a Bite lipstick so I think this line would be a good place to start
I agree – colors are definitely dupable!
Oh my gosh these are gorgeous! Need both!
Enjoy!
Damask is gorgeous!!
It’s a nice hue!
It’s a shame that other lipstick companies can’t use healthy food grade ingredients in their lipsticks like Bite. I own about 15 lip products from them and my collection is growing.
I’m glad you like their lipsticks!
Damask looks stunning.
It’s a really lovely shade!
A plus m hereeeeee
N u r looking smokingggggggg hot 🙂
Thank you, Rashmi!
I have been wanting to pick up damask for a while now! this did it! placed my order 😉
Hope you love it, Vineetha! 😀
Both shades are so fabulous!
Damask is such a pretty pink. <3
Btw, the url to your other review links to this post here instead of the other two lipsticks.
Fixed! Thank you!
Damask is gorgeous! I wish Crimson was actually more like its description.
Damask is really lovely!
I just bought Damask at Sephora—love it! I’m glad I saw the review this morning because it looked a bit darker in the tube…I might not have tried it otherwise. It leaves a nice stain on my lips so it doesn’t seem like something I’ll have to worry about reapplying constantly.
Woohoo!! 🙂
Both of these are super pretty, especially Crimson 😀 Say, soes the ingredient list for Crimson actually include carmine? It’s as close as you get to actual kermes carmine (crimson; adding a sugar moiety to the molecule) in makeup!
(sorry for the random geek-out – I am literally writing my PhD on these pigments).
It just says +/- may contain and lists Carmine (CI 75470) — here’s a pic of the ingredients – http://www.temptalia.com/bite-beauty-centifolia-grandifolia-deconstructed-rose-lipsticks-reviews-photos-swatches
Wow these are stunning! Thanks Christine!
My pleasure, Marina!
I’ve never tried this brand before but based on this review I ordered the Crimson lipstick and the Cashmere Lip Cream Crush previously reviewed… they look gorgeous and Temptalia has never steered me wrong… can’t wait for these items to be delivered! Thanks Christine!
Fingers crossed you love both, PaoPao!
Like I already said with prior ones, I love all of these. They are just wonderful! Each shade is serving you happily colorful, too! Very pretty, rosy Christine! 😀
Aw, thanks a lot, Lotus!
I’m crazy about these lipsticks..they’re gorgeous!
Agreed!
I think Crimson looks absolutely stunning on you, Christine….one of the nicest lippies I’ve seen on you in recent weeks (and you’ve worn a lot of awfully pretty lipsticks!). I have to check this one out. I love Bite lipsticks generally and wanted to treat myself to one that was a dupe for either MAC Lustering or Plumful but I may go with Crimson just for the purely gorgeous heck of it.
Thank you so much, Mariella! 😀 It’s a really lush shade.
Oh Crimson! Be still my beating heart! It looks so beautiful!
It’s a showstopper! 🙂
I ordered 3 of these (these 2 and the coral) and had to return them. I was SO sad! They are gorgeous but I could NOT get past the smell. It was an awful synthetic rose smell and the taste wouldn’t go away for me. I’ve never had any issue at all with fragrance in cosmetics, not YSL or Guerlain or anything so when I read it had a smell I thought nothing of it. I don’t know why this one bothered me. I could still smell it while it was on my lips and it gave me a headache it smelled so fake! This is the first and only time that’s happened! It was so disappointing. I love Bite.
Have you tried Dior’s lipsticks? They were reminiscent of Dior for me. Have you tried the Bite Deconstructed Glosses? If you didn’t care for the scent of these, stay far away from those…
I haven’t tried Dior lipsticks (just the lip maestros) or the glosses but now I know to be wary before potentially impulse buying! Thanks! Is the deconstructed gloss scent stronger than these lipsticks?
Yes, and they have a strong taste.
The colors in this collection are so pretty! Must resist… They’re so “sweaty” though. I hope it doesn’t affect the formula and longevity of the lipstick.
I’ve never had an issue with “sweat” bothering a lipstick (across brands/formulas) – just a visual thing!
Both of these are really pretty. Shame we can’t get them here. Sigh. (That sigh was from my wallet. Its relieved!).
At least one of you is happy 😉
Both absolutely gorgeous shades, especially Damask.
Damask is lovely!
Those are both stunning shades. I love how close the first is to Be A Lady and Paradiso but looks more neutral. Crimson is so good looking, it’s giving me “Magnum”!
So many lovely versions to choose from!
Will you be doing the entirety of Deconstructred Rose?
Hi Brianna!
Not sure what you’re asking – I already reviewed all four shades! I don’t know of any others.
Just wrote a review on Crimson, since I just picked it up this morning. Such a beautiful colour! Glad I got it now since it’s LE. At this point, my wallet can protest all it likes, but I needed this in my kit! 🙂
Hey Christine :). Both look beautiful on you!
How does Damask compare to MAC Chatterbox? Thanks 🙂
Chatterbox is more subdued – not quite as bright 🙂
