Zoya Beatrix Nail Lacquer
Zoya Beatrix Nail Lacquer

Zoya Beatrix Nail Lacquer ($9.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “tangerine metal sparkle” with a Pixie Dust finish. It’s a warm-toned, medium-dark orange base with twinkling tangerine shimmer and sparkle that gives it a metallic, foil-like sheen, plus a textured finish overall. The closest shade I could think of, which isn’t a dupe at all, was Sinful Cloud 9, which similar coloring and shimmer, but it isn’t textured and is much more subdued. There are some other tangerine-hued polishes, but they were all creams.

With two coats, Beatrix was mostly opaque (there’s a hint of visible nail line from further away and with enough light coming through the free edge of the nail). Zoya recommends one to three thin coats, with three being used for full coverage for the Pixie Dust polishes. They also recommend waiting up to ten minutes per coat. I experienced drying time of five to seven minutes per coat, and I did thin to medium ones. Zoya’s Pixie Dust formula wears incredibly (and impressively) well for a full seven days with no chipping and only minor tip wear–and the tip wear is more like it dusting off at the edge, but it’s not as noticeable as normal tip wear. Another thing I like is that these are versatile; you can always apply a top coat and get a glossier, shinier effect if the textured look isn’t your cup of tea. It’s beautiful either way!

  3. kendrixloves

    wow this is gorgeous

  4. hiba

it’s so nice of them to call an orange shade after HM queen Beatrix, especially since she’ll be abdicating tomorrow.

I have seven of the Pixie Dust shades, and they are all ACES. Surprisingly easy to remove, too.

  6. Fleur

    Very nice!
I’m Dutch and I’m sure this orange polish is named after the Dutch Queen, who is going to abdicate tomorrow. She is honored with a nail polish :)

  7. I love the color of this polish, but I’m not a fan of the finish.

I love the Zoya PixieDust polishes that I have already but I don’t wear them as often as I would like; nor am I anxious to buy more only because they are a beast to get off. I guess that speaks to their longevity. I love this color and it looks so beautiful on the nails. Oh well, I might just be spending more time with the acetone is summer. Thanks for the review Christine!

Try using glue as your base coat. I had one of the OPI Liquid Sand polishes on last week and the glue made it a breeze to remove.

  9. This is my favourite of the lot and I’m glad the quality is high. Now I’ll definitely have to have it.

  10. Chiara

I wonder if it’s just a mere coincidence, but Beatrix is actually the name of the Queen of The Netherlands … who’s national colour is orange :D

  11. Leila

It’s beautiful! It looks like a goldfish, the way the orange and gold shimmers sparkle and shine. I’ve been looking for a shade just like this for the longest time.

I might try this, it would be interesting to try the textured finish but I would love to know if there is a dupe for this shade in a non-textured finish, so if anyone can chime in, I’d be grateful.

Hi Christine, I don’t think that the name “Beatrix” for this bright orange nail polish is a coincidence. Beatrix of Orange is the name of the queen of The Netherlands. She will abdicate tomorrow and her son Willem Alexander of Orange will become our new king. It will be a big party!
    Love your website,
    Heleen

  13. So perfect for summer! Will you be doing Stevie or any other shade from this collection too?

  14. Kaylie

Looks near identical to what I’m wearing: Sephora by OPI’s Once a Cheetah, Always a Cheetah.

  15. Yes…I love my corals, oranges, tangerines, but I think I might pass this one up. I think that, maybe, if it was more of a sheer, I would like it.

It just reminds me of the nail polishes that little girls get with their play makeup kits.

  16. It reminds me of Tang for some reason. In any case, this color looks perfect for the beach.

  17. Kristine

Hi Christine! I know this isn’t about the nail polish, but I couldn’t seem to find the post on this lipstick anywhere on temptalia.com. I was wondering if MAC’s Patisserie lipstick from the Euroristocrats II collection was limited edition? I didn’t think it was, but when I went to the MAC counter at my local Dillard’s the other day the girl who worked there didn’t seem to recognize the name, but she told me it was limited edition. I wanted to be sure it’s still available before driving a few hours to the MAC store out of town to check. Thanks! :)

    • It is permanent per MAC’s website! But why not call the MAC store? That way if they have it, you’ll know before you make the drive! :)

  18. I don’t normally like the pixie dust/rough textured polishes, but this shade is too beautiful! I’ll see if I can pick up the Sinful Colors dupe.

  19. This looks SO awesome! I never really got the textured nail trend but Zoyas is the best I’ve seen. Their version looks so sugary and perfect and the shades they do are amazing! I really want this one and that light grey shade too

  20. Lisa

Nice color! I live in Holland, orange is the color of our country & Beatrix is the name of our queen, so I think it has something to do with it. Cool!

  21. Loving my Pixiedusts and Zoya lately so will check this out on my next run to Ulta since I do also love my brights and they’re so big for spring! (Summer too!)

  22. Marian Humin

Looks like candied orange peel!: )

  23. I think the finish of these polishes look really really cool. Definitely some neat technology

  24. Megan

Pixie Dusts >>>>>> Liquid Sands! Zoya did such a great job. Pretty!

  25. ID

hi christine, can u suggest an eyeshadow or combo to achieve this glitter orange, from mac maybe ??

  26. Corrie

Wowza! I love the colour, more than I would have thought. I’m a huge fan of Zoya Pixie Dust too. The whole summer collection is so bright and pretty :)

  27. I love this color! I think it would be super cute on my toes :D

  28. Shay

I wish I could like the pixiedust polishes… This colour is so pretty, but at least there are a few kinda-dupes out there.
