It depends on the product inside! If it’s crappy, hell no!

  2. Yes, if I want what’s on the inside too!

The Guerlain packaging is amaaaazing, but maybe not $84’s worth of amazing. XD

I probably won’t pay much extra for packaging, but I won’t buy a product if the packaging bothers me (ie: benefit’s boxed powders)

    • Yep, I completely agree. I can be enticed and sucked in by pretty packaging but I have to love the product as well. However if I really dislike the packaging I will not purchased even if I like the actual product.

It really depends how much I’d have to pay and what the packaging is…like some MAC collections have great packaging and you don’t even pay more…and some brands have great packaging and still manage to be same price or little difference…it really depends

I’ll pay for gorgeous packaging if the product is something I’m sure I’ll use, e.g. MAC’s Baroque Boudoir compact w/Mystery Powder — high price but absolutely gorgeous and very functional. Otherwise, what’s the point?

I hate having to pay for the fancy packaging! I mean, a good quality lipstick is already quite expensive, without adding on about $10 for the container. It is a bit pointless when it is just going to go into your makeup storage anyway. All you need is a nice and sleek case for the makeup item. x

No way, why should I? It’s just a waste and it’s not of any use.

If it’s a good quality and good colour pay off then yes!

  10. For me the packaging has to be functional and the product inside must be on par as well. For example, Chanel has beautiful simple packaging and the products are just as beautiful. YSL’s Rouge Volupte on the other hand has great packaging but I dislike them because the staying power is so mediocre. I owned one Rouge G from Guerlain but hated the packaging so I gave it to my mom lol.

Only if I like what’s inside aswell… I really want a Burberry lipstick because of the packaging, and plan to buy it because I know the lipstick inside is good as well :)

yeah, Guerlain comes to mind immediately with this poll :)

  13. I wouldn’t normally but I admit my heart has been won by the Guerlain and at £52 they’re certainly not cheap. I’m sure some of the cost can be attributed to the packaging. I really hope they’re worth it. I’m a little nervous after reading your review the other day!

I wouldn’t build by collection around pretty packaging on its own, but assuming you like the product inside, it makes using the product more pleasurable. If the packaging is not enticing, to some extent I’m more likely to overlook the product on my shelf and not use it regularly enough to get the best results…

It’s just nice when attractive packaging gives you a bit more joy in addition to the product itself.

I do tend to buy makeup that’s fun looking. That’s actually part of the reason I won’t buy MAC…it’s just so boring looking. (NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE USING MAC!) But I would rather buy brands like Urban Decay, Too Faced, and Buxom.

I am a complete marketer’s dream in that I am often totally obsessed with the packaging of a product, but thankfully I have to restrict my financial self and will not pay for merely the pretty exterior (i.e. Guerlain is absolutely ridiculous for someone like me, utterly frivolous, in a vulgar way- but that only pertains to me, not Melania Trump). But I am a bonafide “consumer”: I fall for it all.

  17. Victoria

Really depends. First I’d have to be able to see it and try it out to see if the quality is rally amazing. I do have a limit to how much I’m willing to splurge. Once in a while I will buy a luxury item but I would only get one or two.

  18. Azaza

Well it really depends. If I like the product then why not if I dont like it then no way

Sometimes the packaging is so pretty that I don’t really want to use the product and mess-up the look! (isn’t that sick?!?) Such as Dior compacts with flowers, oh…and the one they did that looked like a quilt. And Chantecaille.

If I had to choose between two products equal in colour and quality, I will take the one with the more beautiful packaging – even if it is more expensive. I’m totally addicted to beautiful things… I won’t buy useless (for me) things or something with a bad quality just for a gorgeous packaging, but I have to admit in some cases it is only my good self control which prevents me from buying.

  21. sam

i like packaging. but if it is insanely more like double the price. then no.

  22. Eyeshadows or blushes that I can easily depot—no. I won’t pay for packaging, becuase it’ll just get removed anyways!

Actual as-is products, I might pay a LITTLE more if its extraordinary. But it really takes a LOT to impress me.

  23. Hannah

I wouldn’t pay extra for pretty packaging, no. I actually prefer the plain sleek black packaging (NARS, MAC…). However, I am a BIG sucker for good names :p Think Lip Venom, DiorShow Blackout, AirFlash foundation…

  24. Only is what’s inside live up to the packaging!

  25. Alison

If its a work of art, I might. If the product is good, bad packaging is a turnoff- if the product is good and the packaging is nice I will pay a little extra for it.
