  1. All of the above!
But I guess colours with an interesting shimmer or iridescense or such get me the most, for example Fyrinnae Mephisto.

    • liz

yesssss i adore unique duochromes and shimmers. ugh, so cool!

    • Sasha

Fyrinnae looks gorgeous but as a generally neutral person a lot of them scare me and I’m not sure where to start!

      • Sasha

But I’m totally on for that as a nail color! I have Rescue Beauty Lounge Piu Mosso and it’s pretty much what that shadow would be as a polish.

    Anything with a color-shift…

I’d say that bold colors are my weakness because I tend to buy them more than I actually wear them (compared to neutrals). But they’re just so much more fun!

  3. Bold and unusual colours for eyes (particularly purples and duochromes) and neutral colours for lips!

do you mean weakness as in things we can’t resist, or things we have trouble working with and applying? cause i really cannot resist bright lipsticks, especially cheap wet & wild ones! and i have trouble matching and applying foundation, so most of the time i stick to tinted moisturizer.

    • liz

i guess i’ll go with unusual colors! i do tend to gravitate towards my graftobian blue lipstick when I’m not sure what else to wear. it’s so, so beautiful and it’s SO opaque. it’s like a mix between royal blue and like cornflower blue. so saturated and bright but somehow it looks really… natural on me? not natural obviously cause it’s BLUE but i can wear it out and people will tell me they like my lipstick and not think it’s weird so I guess i carry it well. πŸ˜€

  5. I like neutral colors on my eyes, and bold for cheeks and lips.

  6. I voted neutral because I only wear cream-brown-gray-taupe eyeshadows but I do love bold colors on my lips, I never wear nude lipstick!

    • Carla N.

      I heard *that!*
The most “out there” shades I’ll wear on my eyes are muted pinks and plums, but I TOTALLY skipped nude lips.
I’m SO glad to see the lip color trend shift toward bolds, because I LOOOVE them!

    • Same here. Nude lipsticks wash me out!

    • Me too! Like Carla N, I’m glad to see the nude lip trend seeming to fade. In all honesty, I think everyone looks better with a bit of colour on their lips.

(as an aside, I hope this message posts. Although I’m showing as being logged in, none of my comments seem to be appearing!)

It honestly depends on the makeup. Eyeshadow: taupe; lips: bold colors, nails: bold and/or dark; eyeliner: black or an unusual color for “pop”.

  8. Bold! :-) Which often is the same as unusual.

  9. Can I pick unusual neutral colours? I love weird grayish muted neutrals.

    • Carla N.

I think maybe we were separated at birth, because I just about wet myself over shades like Stila Rain, which is a complex mixture of gray/taupe/plum.
And I’ve done everything but build a shrine to Ingot M349, which is a matte medium greyish taupe.

  10. Veronica

I need the option of ALL COLORS, ALL THE TIME. πŸ˜€

  11. Mayra Melo

I just CANT get enough of dark green and purple! <3

  12. I could say BOTH bold and unusual colours, but I see unusual ones as more of a weakness, because I can’t resist buying them, but rarely have the opportunity to wear them. I wear bold colours quite frequently, so I see them as more useful.

Ah…I wear less neutrals but more bold and unusual colors. xD I love UD’s Siren and that brown/green/red color in the WnW’s Comfort Zone…gah, so amazing. πŸ˜€

    • Isn’t it funny?? That color in the WNW palette is the one color I _can’t_ seem to get it looking right. Gotta love snowflake skin…sigh. Glad you can rock it!

  14. Sasha

I selected neutrals but I suppose it depends on what product we’re talking about. I used to be all about really bright and colorful eyeshadows but I’ve switched to mostly neutral eye and lip colors with more focus on blush and highlighter for general glow and the pop of color in my nails.

I do still love a red or bright lip occasionally but rarely do brighter or really dark makeup anymore. The last was Infallible golden emerald for my witch look on halloween heh.

  15. Carla N.

For me, it’s neutrals on my eyes, which are large and bright green, and bold colors on my lips.
I will wear “unusual” colors, like purples and magentas on my lips, so I guess you could say that I’ll go for neutral, bold, *and* unusual. :)

  16. Neutral for eyes and bold for lips.

  17. Neutral colours for eyes and bold ones for lips!

  18. Jennifer

Always bolds. My favourite lipsticks are bright, my blushes are matte and intense (boys don’t cry, flush, desire, etc, etc). Love it all

  19. geneva

I’m going with neutral in e/s, because I have the bold colors but always reach for my neutral eye shadow. I love bright blush and lipstick. If I wear bright colored eye shadow, I usually tone down my blush and lipstick. So I actually love both.

  20. KF

Unusual colors – if it makes someone else go “what?” it’s for me! I’m in the process of trying to find a great gunmetal lipstick right now…

  21. I’m such a sucker for neutrals! Not all are matte and unnoticeable – colours like Inglot 422 and 419, Sephora Snakeskin Dress, Tarina Tarantino Dandy Lion are colours I include in the “neutral” banner. And as I often tell sales people, I just keep buying the same colours over and over again – they may be from different companies and have different names but I just fall for neutrals, taupes, browns and greys and smudgey, smokey plums over and over again.

  22. VickyM

I love bold colors for my lips, a gorgeous bold pink, pink red, a medium pink, a fuchsia, all those colors I really love. I gravitate towards bold and medium lip colors so I prefer neutral tones on everything else, so I voted bold colors, since my everyday makeup includes lipstick but I donΒ΄t always have time to apply anything else.

  23. I selected neutrals because that’s what I gravitate toward in eyes and cheeks, and I have a lot of neutral (not nude, but neutral) lips, but I also like brighter lips, and my nails are always bright or bold or unusual.

  24. I lovd unique colors! Classic/neutral shades with a twist are my biggest weakness. πŸ˜‰

  25. When it comes to eyeshadows, it’s neutrals all the way for me probably 95% of the time. “Neutral” is a pretty huge category, though, and I have neutrals in all shades from green and bronze based through to browns, greys and plums and with all manner of highlight type shades thrown in. I seem to keep buying the same shades over and over again – they may be from different companies and have different names but they’re all awfully similar and it’s almost become a bit of a joke! I do like some colour in shadows but I tend to use those only sparingly (under my lower lashes, in the outer corner or in the crease and blended in with neutrals)

  26. Yasmin

Definatey neutral, but also taupe/pewter like colours. I cannot get enough of them!

  27. Alison

My eyeshadow weakness? Taupes! Taupe-greys, taupe browns, antique gold, smoky colours. I also love dark, blackened plummy colours and eggplants, midnight blues, dark rich greens, and dark navy.

For lips, I’m into oxbloods and burgundies, berry-reds, vamps and sheer plums! In a way, these are at once bold and neutral – they’re strong shades, but they aren’t unconventional.

    • Carla N.

I, too, am a total “taupe hoor!”
That’s one of the reasons I love Inglot so much – they offer a lot of “complex” taupes. I have plummy taupes, greyish taupes, pinkish taupes, brownish taupes, dark taupes, medium taupes, light taupes, and everything in between!
It’s insane, but they complement my green eyes so beautifully, and work perfectly with the bold lip colors I love.

  28. Wearing glasses, I completely skip neutral eye makeup as they make it look like I am wearing nothing at all. I’d much rather have bold, interesting eyeshadows and tempered lips. I have a particular weakness for dark greens and fun purples.

  29. In my Barry White voice “uniqueness is my weakness” – sorry I couldn’t help myself….I like duochromes and neutral/classic colors with a twist on texture, tone, etc. I like colors that look deceptively plain in the pan yet knock your socks off when you swatch/wear it.

  30. Quinn

A green lipstick? Purple? Black?! Being a goth, I am absolutely THERE. To hell with being afraid of unusual colors, you can pull anything off if you try! I guess I’m trying to say I am the one buying out all the “scary” colors. Unusual is the way to go!

  31. Corliss

BOLD COLORS!!! NAILS, LIPS, EYES you name it.

  32. Michelle

love the bold colors although i don’t wear them that often, tending to wear more neutrals. they are lovely to look at too!
