What we're Wearing

On eyes: OCC Datura, Acacia, and Foxfire Loose Colour Concentrates; Chanel Peche Cuivre on lower lash line — this was just a REALLY quick look to test out some different products.  I loved the color combination in theory.

  1. So pretty! You’re right about Chanel Peche Cuivre not showing up at all though! Not even in such a close shot!

This week my favorite look was done with L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Emerald Lame. I put it all over my lids, blended Urban Decay Tease into the crease, and highlighted my inner corners with Booty Call. It’s a simple look, and the formula is disappointingly not long-wearing on me, but it’s pretty nonetheless.

@Mostly SunnyI’m surprised to see how many bloggers are getting poor performance out of those L’Oreal infallible shades.  I picked up the smokey grey shade, and it wore on me from 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon until 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning when I got home and took it off.  I didn’t even have a true primer underneath – only concealer – and I still only had a touch of fading in my crease (very common with any eyeshadow I wear, at that).  Maybe the more matte texture of the grey helps it wear better?  I notice a lot of the more disappointing reviews are for the satin shades.

      • Hey Veronica, I do think the whole creasing business depends a lot on individuals. The majority of the shades we get here in Belgium have the same satin/shimmery finish. I have swatched 3 new shades that just came out which have a matte finish, but from swatching them I could see they might not be as pigmented and smooth as the others.

@Mostly Sunny Love the greens! I have really been into my matte eyecolors and thank you for reminding me to give my greens some love. Gorgeous blog by the way…

My favorite look this week was an intense coral-orange lip with a wash of spring green on the lids!

  3. Ooh I’m really liking the opalescent shade!

It’s been so long since I used Urban Decay eyeshadows so I whipped out my Book of Shadows Vol. 3 palette (I think that’s the one, the NYC one).

Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy, Bordello, and Last Call on the lids. UD Retrograde liquid liner on upper lash line, Tarte Espresso SmolderEYES pencil on lower lash line. Paired with MAC Oh So Fair beauty powder and MAC Hot House lipglass; also tried Rimmel Airy Fairy lipstick topped with aerie Pink Crystals lipgloss.

Beautiful Joyce! I love those pink lips! Mac Hot House lip glass may need to come home with me! I also loved the winged eyeliner.

TheBalm’s Insane Jane is one of my favourite eyeshadows of all time but because I have it in the Balmbini palette, I often forget to use it. I wore it several times this past week, with MAC’s Centre Stage in the crease or heavier on the lid and  Stila Cloud in the crease (for a “reverse” sort of look).  I’ve been using MAC’s Pinch o’Peach or Clarins Vitamin Pink on my cheekson a lot lately, and Revlon’s Berry Smoothie Lip butter on lips.

I was so happy with a look I wore earlier in the week, but I already forgot some of it.  I used a Physicians Formula shimmer strips for the first time in awhile–combined the second grouping of shades which was an orangey gold, a pink, and a brown.  Then I wore the orchid from a PF automatic liner trio for hazel eyes on the lower lash line/waterline.  Nyx’s lip plumper in Angelina on the lips.  I don’t remember what I did for my face, aside from put on BB cream, though!

This looks so pretty on you. I agree with you – I like how the colors work together – esp the softness of the addition with whatever shade is in the inner corner, onto the nose crevice area and pulled on down to the lower eye lid – it’s soft of a soft blue leaning lilac. I don’t know which one it is = have to look up the names you gave to see what name is which color. when you pulled the camera back on other photos and had this look on still for the eye – with your earrings and the colors – you looked ready for Cinco de Mayo! My own fav look this week was totally clean skin, post 3 different at home spa like facial treatments I gave myself – then put on my night time skin care.

I tried some ‘new’ looks this week and kept forgetting my eyeshadow base and it never looked right when I forgot that part. I adore my shadow base – I use Garden Botanica’s shadow base primer I think is what they call it – have tired a ton of others and always prefer this one that I have used since the 80’s and folks did not typically use eye base – then I do recall in the early/mid 80’s Lancone came in with a base that was in a pen like form.  A # of others followed after that.

Loving Datura on you and Nikkie of NikkieTutorials!  This looks very fairy-esque to me with it in the corner.  Want it!
