What brands do you love that you feel are underrated? Different? Share!
I want to say Guerlain and Burberry, but I don’t really know if they’re underrated in the truest sense of the word. Oh, Hourglass!
Thanks to Sammy for today’s question! Got a question idea? Submit yours here.
Idk if it's been mentioned, but I'm going to speak about Sugarpill! Their eyeshadow in Bulletproof blows Carbon & MUFE's black out of the water. It has almost a creamy texture and it blends like no other. Plus the owner is a doll and my package came covered in ice cream stickers and she signed my receipt as" Thanks Chris! <3 Amy" Can you say customer satisfactionnnn?
Bourjois and La Roche Posay. Bourjois: good eyeshadows and lipglosses. LRP skincare is great, good relation quality/price, they have a good sunscreen for oily/comb skin(high PPD, matte finish and does not melt under high temperatures). They also do make up, but I never tried. I have heard good things about it, especially about their blushes. It is on my wishlist.
Studio Gear. Fabulous foundations/powders, great lipsticks and shadows, not to mention brushes that are right up there with MAC if not better sometimes.
Maybelline, for sure ! Not everything is awesome, but I feel like some people buy or hear about ONE not-so-good product and decide that, beacuse it's cheap, it must suck completely. Not one brand in the world is perfect on every product !
Revlon all the way for lip products. Brands that carry skin-care products that are organic like Korres, Neobio or Lavera.
Glad a few are saying GOSH - I love their stuff. The lip glosses & soft n shines are gorgeous & their effect powders also. I also use a lot of their brushes which are suprisingly good
Estee Lauder and Lancome, I think people see these as older brands but I love them. I love Clarins but they are dull even for me, they need a lil spruce for their image. I LOVE Victoria's secret makeup! The foundation is a perfect match for me and shows up amazing in photos! Even better than MAC. Mascaras and blushes are prefect. I just feel they are over looked because they are a store brand and not just a cosmetic company.
victoria secrets new makeup line-love their e/s singles and lipsticks. hard candy- love their mineralized blushes/bronzers and li[psticks. bare minerals/essentuals- i have almost every set they have come out w/ for the last 2 years-i love how your makeup combo is right in their kits. i will always love my mac- but thats not underated. =)
Definitely Tarte. I fell in love with the brand after purchasing their epic holiday palette, the Tarte Treasure Chest. Wonderfully pigmented shadows, very lovely blush/bronzer/highlighter, and high-shine lip glosses. On top of that, all natural. :) I bought their cheek stain, and I'm in love with the product.
i agree with you christine...i think guerlain is an awesome brand but i think so many people are quite intimidated to try this brand because of the PRICE!!!its really steep, but in my own experience the brand is worth is..i cringed at my first rouge g lipstick but after comparing it to other brands in my collection..its totally worth it!!!!
Lorac...I have tries so many mac shadows that are hard and have no pigmentation...my lorac and smashbox shadows are so much better. Also never hear about clarins nice foundations.
Make up: - Bourjois (gloss, eyeshadows) - ArtDeco (www.artdeco.de) produces great concealers, eyeshadowbase, eyeshadows. SkinCare: Lumene is pretty nice for its price (Finland). As I know they are currently presented in the US.
Physicians Formula. I stay away from their liquid products, but eye shadows, blushes and powders are excellent.
Clinique! The eyeshadows and lip colors are fabulous, as are all the foundations and concealers. Quickliners are my HG top eyeliners, can't live without them, want every color. Another line I think more people should know about is a mineral makeup e-tailer called Silk Naturals. Love it!
I saw a few I was thinking already, but one that I haven't seen mentioned is Sue Devitt. The electric sheen eyeshadow in madurai is my favorite yellow of all times.
PALLADIO!!!!!! It's love. Great quality products. Lip products smell so yummy. Their lipglosses are comparable to MAC cremesheens. One of my new fave lines! And it's drugstore :D
I just came upon a brand from Italy called Kiko Cosmetics. I absolutely adore their colour sphere eyeshadows! It's sold in Italy, Spain and Germany. They have a website though: kikocosmetics.com. In Holland they also sell Catrice and Essence, good products, very cheap!
Merle Norman... They have amazing long lasting foundations and the lip sticks and brow stuff is great, not to mention eyeshadows last a long time and are beautiful colors that wear well.
theBalm is totally underrated. Barely ever mentioned and is just a tiny section at Sephora. Impressive quality and great range of colors and products. And of course, adorable packaging!
Estee Lauder always seems to be viewed as a "nana" brand, which I think is really unfortunate - they have some really lovely products, Pale Moon and Mocha Cup e/s are a couple of my favourites and the Signature Hydra Lustre and Pure Color Crystal lipsticks are wonderful too. The new Double Wear pencils are fan-frigging-tastic and the latest Tom Pechaux glosses are very beautiful as well. It's a very wearable range. TheBalm - blushes and e/s in particular are also amazing quality. Just This Once Jamie might be my favourite eyeshadow ever, in the whole entire universe! I love it so much and the Shady Lady palettes are fantastic value as well.
NYX can be underrated sometime. I like their blushes. MAC blushes leave alot to be desired sometime. I wear dessert rose on the cheek and pecan as a hilight. Really cheap and pigmented.
Rock & Republic! I am sooooo in love with their blushes it's not even funny! I'm also a huge fan of Kryolan but I don't hear much about them, aside from Aquacolor.
The little guys like Lumiere (great foundations and mineral eyeshadows) and Meow Cosmetics. I think these two companies changed my life.
The E.L.F. Studio line! I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to cheap makeup products, but I decided to give the Studio line a go. I ended up loving everything that I've tried. Especially their brushes, lip glosses and blushes.
Shu Uemura for sure. Their eye shadows and lipsticks are amazing. P.S. Honestly, compared to MAC everything is underrated. I do not have anything against them, they have good basics, but to me they are absolutely uninspiring.
SUGARPILL COSMETICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =) http://www.sugarpillshop.com/
Thanks Christine! Yeah Estee Lauder for sure. Beautiful lipsticks as well as foundations. I think people associate it with grandmothers or something but grandma's know their thing or two. ;)
Sammy - I was JUST going to write this, and then saw your comment. Estee Lauder is definitely underrated - wonderful powder, and lipsticks in truly lovely colors. I began using this line when I was 21, and at 49 have still never found a better pressed powder than her Lucidity.
Estee Lauder is awesome! I remember going through 3 tubes of China Red lipstick. I just discovere it's eyeshadows, too. Soo buttery and pigmented. The lipstick formula is non-drying. I always wonder why noone pick this brand and talk about it.
Stila! Their color selection for lips and eyes is fabulous, as are their formulas. Almost everything they have looks pretty on me, lasts all day, and is a pleasure to work with.
