Wet 'n' Wild Your 15 Minutes Aren't Up Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio
Wet ‘n’ Wild Your 15 Minutes Aren’t Up Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Your 15 Minutes Aren’t Up Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) contains a yellow, purple, and medium-dark pink eyeshadow. It’s a limited edition trio that you may still find, or you may be out of luck. I’ve asked my local stores, and they haven’t heard anything, and I haven’t seen them myself (in-stores), but I know they’ve released elsewhere and been cleaned out quickly.

This post, more or less, is to let you know that your time (and money) might be better spent elsewhere. Initially, I was actually able to get some color to adhere and show up on the lid without using a creamy white base, but all of the colors just fade so quickly–in mere hours. Of course, though touted as long-wearing and highly-pigmented, all three shades were completely gone after four hours of wear without a primer. Over a regular primer, there was significant fading but a hint of color left after six hours (these eyeshadows just eat primer!), and then over NYX Milk, they lasted seven hours with some fading and had better color payoff, too.

Your 15 Minutes Aren’t Up #1 is a light-medium yellow with a satin finish. It had so-so color payoff, but it was very powdery and somewhat chalky, so it was very easily sheered out during application. Your best bet is to pat it on, and if possible, over something tacky/creamy. Fyrinnae Banana Mochi is more shimmery. MAC Bright Yellow is slightly lighter, more matte. See comparison swatches.

Your 15 Minutes Aren’t Up #2 is a medium purple with subtle cool undertones and a satiny, almost matte, finish. It was very powdery and somewhat chalky, and it suffered from the same issues as the yellow eyeshadow–incredibly prone to sheering out on the lid during application. NARS Flowers 1 #3 is more satin-like. MAC Spoiled Rich is warmer. MAC Shock-a-holic is brighter. Inglot #386 is slightly warmer. See comparison swatches.

Your 15 Minutes Aren’t Up #3 is a warm, medium-dark pink with a matte finish. Like the other two, it was powdery and chalky, but it was the least powdery and chalky of the three. It had so-so color payoff but did sheer out easily on the lid. Urban Decay Noise is cooler-toned. MAC Tease with Ease is more shimmery. MAC Gameela is redder. Guerlain Terra Azzurra #2 is cooler-toned. Dior Bow is darker. See comparison swatches.

There are three other trios, and I did take photos/swatches of all them (as well as I’ve tested them all) — how would you feel about me just posting swatches and just an overview (no dupes or shade-by-shade review)? I’d like to just kick ‘em out, but it’s always hard for me to post without a full review! Let me know what you’d like to see in the comments :)

Looks like Tums. I hate Tums. I’m so sad and disappointed in WnW’s new offerings. I love my neutral trios and use them more than my Urban Decay!

  2. That quad looks so… sad.

That purple is really pretty. Such a shame that it’s so patchy.

  4. Christa

Ugh. It’s so disappointing to see the latest releases from WnW, especially after their earlier successes with the Comfort Zone palette and most of their other trios. I wonder what’s been going on that has caused the sudden drop in quality.

  5. Cha

How sad, are wnw shadows hit or miss? I heard good reviews for some of their other shadows, so I am confused as to whether i should try them or not.

    • When they originally launched the Color Icon formula (both the trios and the 8-pan palettes), it was really impressive – like not every single shade was A++++++ amazing, but overall, they were fairly good. This summer’s batch was rather horrible (in my experience).

  6. Ouch :-( Really disappointing. At least the last trio that performed bad had nice colors. These three colors don’t even look good.

I hate seeing brands sacrifice quality for the sake of “keeping up”. WnW had a good thing going with the 6-pan palettes, yet DCd them; they could have left those on the market, and still retained a nice profit, but instead pulled them and put the effort into the Fergie line, and things like this. At this rate, WnW is going to reclaim the reputation they had back in the 80s…

    • The Fergie palettes are even worse… why >:(

    • beck

The whole Fergie line was a miss for me,I could not get
      past the bulky eyeshadow cases.
I heard the eye primer is good.
I returned these palettes in the white cases, an
impulse buy gone wrong of course haha.
      Off topic:
Christine any chance you will review the new Stila
foil eyeshadows that come w/a liquid primer? :)
I just saw them on Sephora they *look* awesome!

I’m totally for a quick overview, doesn’t seem like we’re missing much here!

To answer your question, an overview with a link to this review would be more than sufficient, assuming they are all “Same crap, different colors.” I would hate to see you waste any more of your time on these than necessary!

It feels like WNW is following in the footsteps of MAC and wowing us with great performers like the Color Icons and then letting their quality go straight to the outhouse!!

  10. Oh wow, if that’s how it looks on top of a primer, I’m definitely not going to be pining for this one!

  11. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Pat Pat

Wow. I’m so glad I resisted! Like all of the commenters, I’d been surprised by WnW’s quality up ’till this summer. I hope they make another comeback. No, don’t bother reviewing the rest of them if they are all THIS quality. Sad!

  12. Julia

That is really weak. I’d like to see swatches of the rest of them, but don’t need a full review, so I can firmly say no to these, even when on sale.

    Thanks for showing these!

  13. Nooo! I’m such a sucker for this combo (soft yellow/pink/purples are my favourite, but I love a yellow/pink/blue, too), and it breaks my heart to hear that the quality of this palette is so underwhelming. What ever happened to Wet n Wild being one of the GOOD cheap drugstore lines? :( :(

  14. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Ellen Ellen

Eeyuck. Definitely just post an overview, especially if they’re anything like this. I liked the short reviews you did at the end of the year – more products to see!

  15. Carrie

As long as you’d make it clear whether the other palettes are up to (or not) the standards of the old palettes, quick reviews are fine by me. :D

And yeah. I still have one WnW palette, but I’ve become very wary of them recently. Shame, because it was nice having a quality drugstore option for so little!

  16. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Jeney Jennifer G

I don’t mind just seeing swatches and an overview of these trios!

  17. Again, these are just so not my colours so even if the ratings had been A+ all ’round, this would be a “Leave it” for me. But shame on WnW. They were amazing so many of us who’d thought of their products as cheap and nasty – instead, their original 6 pans (like Lust and Vanity) and many of their trios, 8 pans and singles were just outstandingly good. But it seems that, just like the higher end brands, WnW too is capable of dropping the ball big time. I wonder why companies don’t have better quality control. I mean, I don’t understand the process at all but so many companies from WnW to Mac to Chanel come out with some real stinkers. This is what they DO so I’d have thought they could maintain a certain level of quality throughout.

  18. It seems that WnW is failing with their matte formula… I got some trios and all the 8 palettes when this run first came out and almost all the shades had at least some sort of shimmer to the shadows… All of these limited ones have been a massive let down.

  19. The 8-pans from Spring Foreard performed better than this and the shimmers were pretty sheer but layer-able! I STILL have a 6-pan WnW palette and the mattes in it? HELLOOOO PIGMENT! These are just hideous on color combination and performance. One has to wonder, is it because they’re focusing on their Fantasy Makers collections or what?? Who tossed that brilliant formula for standout. eyeshadow? :/

  20. I love the vivid colors in this trio, and am sooo disappointed in the quality! This could have been a great mix of color.

A short review with a Glossover breakdown of each shade would suffice. It would be good to know if there is at least ONE good shade in the other trios. Given the low price point, even if only one shade worked well, it might be worth it to purchase, ya know? :-)

  21. Ugh, those shadows are so sheer. Disappointing. Definitely not gonna go out and buy this.

I still love my neutral Wet n Wild trio palettes though. The old ones. They are a much better quality and have better eyeshadow payoff than this one.

  22. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Xero Xero

To be fair brights are difficult to get right in the first place…I know at least that the new Tough Girl collection is good quality, at least the palettes I bought. They totally dropped the ball on these palettes and the Fergie eyeshadows but I don’t think they’re necessarily on a downwards spiral.

  23. I saw other sites go bananas over this collection, even with the poor quality. Thanks for being so honest.

    • No problem! My thing is whether it’s $3 or $30, you should still know if it’s good or not, period… You make the call whether it’s still worth $3 even with problems (maybe for a unique color, something you want to try but don’t want to spend a lot on, willing to put in extra work/time to make it work, etc.)!

  24. While I agree about wear time I had a much more positive experience with mine. I applied over mirenesse primer and they lasted as long as you mentioned but were easy to blend, bright shades, very pigmented. I was super impressed by all the trios in this collection. I’m sorry you didn’t have such a positive experience.

  25. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Cat Cat G

It’s such a shame. They’ve had a number of misses now, which doesn’t make sense to me! They were doing so well with the color icon eyeshadows before, I can’t help but wonder what happened?? That being said, I still love the original 8 color ones I have.

  26. Even though the quality wasn’t great, these aren’t shades I would reach for on a regular basis anyway.

  27. Michelle

I purchased 4 of the trios in this collection and I have gotten good looks and wear from them but it takes effort! I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance to prime, then topped that with Nyx’s jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Milk, and THEN applied the shadows slowly and carefully and took a lot of time with my blending and added in more product, etc. I agree with you Christine that these are just not on the same level as the 8 pan palettes or even some of the older color icon trios. WnW really needs to re-evaluate what it is that they are doing. Even though I got these palettes for a BOGO 50% sale, I still don’t want to waste money on a trio that will sit in a drawer and rarely get used. I have some HE products that do that because I forget that I owe them or I didn’t fall immediately in love with them, ya know what I mean?

    • Glad you at least found a way to make ‘em work ;)

I know that how I am with poor performing products is that… I won’t bother. Like I will just want to reach for something easier and that doesn’t require the extra effort/patience/time to ensure it comes out decently.

  28. Maryanna

i was really hopeing this pallet would work, i really wanted a matte yellow as a edge bender for my browns so disappointing ….. anyone know of a good ocher color or a good yellow im in need :P
