MAC Wonder Woman Look: Defiance
Just because it can be made to work… doesn’t mean it is worth buying. I really had to pack on the color to get it to show, and there was some issues with blending, because the shades were so stiff. I maintain my recommendation of “no buy” to the fullest!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base (neutral eyeshadow base), MAC Defiance Eyeshadow (pale frosted pink), MAC Paradise Island Eyeshadow (petal pink), MAC Star Studded Eyeshadow (plummed pink), MAC Real Drama Eyeshadow (burgundy brown), Burberry Trench Eyeshadow, Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Liner (black), MAC Victorious Opulash Mascara (purple)
- Face: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (Punjab), Burberry Pressed Powder (03)
- Cheeks: MAC Mighty Aphrodite Blush (peach-pink)
- Lips: MAC Spitfire Lipstick (dark pink), MAC Wonder Woman Lipglass (red)
- Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 222 (fluffy crease brush), 263 (angled eyeliner brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Defiance = Vanilla pigment; Paradise Island – Pen ‘n’ Pink; Star Studded = Fig. 1; Real Drama = Sketch; Mighty Aphrodite = Deep Throat; Spitfire = Up the Amp + Girl About Town; Wonder Woman = Russian Red
For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Paradise Island eyeshadow on the inner half of the lower lid. Lightly blend Star Studded eyeshadow onto the outer third of the lid and crease with the 222. Apply Defiance eyeshadow on the inner tear duct and crease with the 239. Blend Trench eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Perversion on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Victorious Opulash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Mighty Aphrodite blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Spitfire lipstick first, then layer Wonder Woman lipglass for a complementing lip.

I have this palette and I never would have thought to use the technique you used. I love the way it looks!
I purchased this palette and found it fairly pigmented:) I guess you have to work the two middle shades a bit, but overall I think it was worth it... The colors are very pretty!! Thanks for all your awesome reviews!!!!
pink with deeper pinks/violets are my favorite. But this year I'm thinking sultry eyes and nude lips. I have big eyes so I really want to play them up plus I like to leave the lips soft/natural so I can play kissyface without worry ;p
Gorgeous! I tried a similar lip combo today (Lime Crime Airborne Unicorn + MAC Venetian) and I so love the results, I have to do purple & red together more often.
This is pretty, but I think I actually prefer the green quad. At this point, I think I have to go to the store and look at the quads in person. To me, there are a lot of qualities in the E/s that just don't seem to show up on the computer. I often think I will like one e/s, when looking at the computer, and when I get to the store, that e/s doesn't look as great as I thought it would and I like something else completely different a lot better. But, we are having a blizzard right now, and I won't be able to get out for the next couple of days. Something to look forward to this weekend.
beautiful eye combo, christine! too bad the palette's quality turned out so crappy. luckily i have dupes for all those colors in my 3 Pro palettes.
Thanks for posting this look despite the shadow being on your no-buy list. This is a nice soft look for v-day but also the spring time. Gives me inspiration to pull out my pinks!
Hi Christine! I love the look, but there was one thing I noticed: you mentioned Urban Decay Perversion eyeliner as being a copper liner, but isn't it black?
Christine I have a question. Were the wonder woman colors from the pink palette a tougher texture? When I saw the pics of the palettes, it seemed like colors didn't look as pigment.
I only have three things on my wonder woman list, Pink Power, Heroine, and Bad Bad Black :) Thanks so much for all of your pics and swatches! Telling me about this site is the best thing my MAC people have done for me.
It's a pretty look - I might try to recreate it with some stuff I already own as I won't be getting these products. Luckily I have Vanilla Pigment, Fig 1, Sketch, Deep Throat, Up the Amp, Girl About Town and Russian Red l/g...so I just have to find a substitute for Paradise Island! I'm sure MAC Petal Worship or one of Urban Decay's pinks would do the trick :)
You look amazing Christine! Great look, I love it!! I have been following your amazing site for a while but this is the first time I write so I take this chance to thank you SO MUCH for your incredible hard work and dedication, you provide such a valuable service to all of us, so thank you for your amazing website, your dedication and hard work!! And a big kiss to gorgeous Mellan!! Paola (all the way from North West of Italy, currently under heavy snow)
May I just say, I love the way to take pictures of your lips. It gives me chills every time, they are so beautiful haha (dang, sounds like I'd have some weird lip fetish or something, which is not the case!! haha) The look is so pretty, it's so sad that the palette is such a pain to use :/
With all the pretty looks you always come up with I start wondering myself if you have ever taken any makeup classes Christine! I' m very impressed with your perfect eye make up techniques! I'd love to be that skilled especially with eyeshadow application, well I guess I need to practise a lot more!
