Valentine’s Day Makeup: Soft Neutrals & Pink Lips
So, opposite of the last look, here’s a very soft look one could wear. I call it Valentine’s Day makeup, but you could really wear it any time. I think it’s quite appropriate for a variety of occasions! I wore this to school on Wednesday, which worked for me; I was able to wear *something* but not feel out of place or too young. (I’m probably one of the younger people in my program.)
You will need the following…
- Eyes: MAC Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), (champagne pink), Too Faced Silk Teddy Eyeshadow (champagne pink), Too Faced Peach Fuzz Eyeshadow (peach-beige), Too Faced Cocoa Puff Eyeshadow (warm chocolate brown), Too Faced Teddy Bear Eyeshadow (dark mushroom brown), Too Faced Heaven Eyeshadow (matte beige), Urban Decay Underground 24/7 Liner (brown), MAC Plushlash (black)
- Face: Kiehl’s Tinted Moisturizer (medium)
- Cheeks: Smashbox Paradise Blush (peachy-pink)
- Lips: Urban Decay Rush Lipstick (soft pink), Chanel Pinup Glossimer (champagne gold)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: N/A
For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the lid with the 249. Using the 239, apply Silk Teddy eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Peach Fuzz eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Cocoa Puff eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Next, define the crease by applying Teddy Bear eyeshadow with the 226. Lightly tap and brush Silk Teddy eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Heaven eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Underground Liner on the lower lash line, and then sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Paradise blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Rush lipstick first, and then layer Pinup glossimer for a soft lip look.

From the 5 Valentine's Day Makeup, I'm loving this one and the Peach and Plum :) I know you wrote N/A to the substitutes, but it would be so hard for me to get that lip combo here in my country. Do you know any MAC close dupe for them? :) thank you Christine
All of the V-Day looks you've posted are so pretty! The one with the red Chanel lipstick is my definite favorite. I have a question: Is there a reason why you don't line your upper lashline? It is personal preference or are you sensitive to liner there? Sorry - I'm just curious! :)
Hi Kerry, It causes me severe irritation -sometimes my entire lid will swell shut if it's really bad, and it's the result of just anything really touching the area between my upper lashes, not necessarily the product itself (have tried 30+ products).
OMG! You look fabulous w/ this makeup. I ♥ it! I think I will try to dupe this for dinner and movie tonight w/ my bf. We're going to see "Just Go With It" with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. Happy Valentine's Day!
You just look beautiful with everything you wear. Honestly. I am very pale with light blue eyes and blonde hair, and I so easily feel "over made-up". I sometimes think it's much easier to wear make up when you are dark with dark eyes. Everything just goes! :)
Aww! I think sometimes it's just confidence, too. Because there are times I feel like I'm wearing a lot, but then people like it, sooo! Maybe I'm not too made up :) Thank you!
This is a gorgeous very sexy look I really love it it can be used on a daily basis as well so romantic oxox Melinda
This has to be one of my favorite looks on you!!!! I will bookmark this to try it someday (maybe v day!) xoxo
I heart that lip gloss! So subtly sparkly without going overboard – am going to purchase ASAP! Great posting, thanks for all the pics. I’m going to try out this look using my fave eye shadow called Iced Apricot by Mattify Cosmetics. It’s a beautiful light peach with a frosty tone that would look great layered under the Too Faced Silk Teddy shadow.
Wow Wow Wow! It must be such hard work replying to all these compliments hehehe :P you're an inspiration daily! I would be SO lost without this website I tell you!
first of all, i agree with everyone about how great a neutrals look on you. second of all, and unrelated to makeup, you have some beautiful eyes! the color of your eye in those first couple pictures looks amazing!
Thanks, Justine! :) LOL, people have told me it looks like leopard spots... I think it looks like crazy DNA or tree roots.
Great look!! 1st time poster, long time reader here! Could NARS orgasm be used as a sub for the cheeks & lips? I have similar colors in Bare Escentuals for the eyes, but I was wondering about the blush & gloss? Thanks & keep up the wonderful work!!
This is such a beautiful flattering glowy look on you! I especially love the cheek/lip combo with your sweater - absolutely perfect! :D
Christine, you look so fresh, youthfull and beautifull!! I love this look very much!! You should wear this often...
Pretty look! I'm a new follower to this blog, and it's very informative and exciting to read. Quick question, for someone who is starting to build thier collection up with neutrals, do you recommend this palette, or would you recommend purchasing mac e/s that are similar to this? I just have one palette from two faced, and only two e/s from mac, so I really have no idea which company has better pigmentation and blending with their e/s. Much Appreciated, and Thanks. :)
Hey April, I don't think you could go wrong either way. You could just as easily buy MAC shadows or use Too Faced -- MAC shadows aren't as soft as Too Faced, but they can be just as pigmented. If you want MAC dupes, I recommend: Retrospeck, Bisque, Cork, Espresso.
