Urban Decay Uncut Eyeshadow
Urban Decay Uncut Eyeshadow

Urban Decay Uncut Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “smoky purple with a reddish shimmer.” It’s a darkened eggplant purple with burgundy-red undertones and a shimmery, frosted finish. MAC Rich Core is more muted, less red-toned. NARS Calabria is very similar but a cream product. Make Up For Ever #311 is less purple, more burgundy. Le Metier de Beaute Fig is less shimmery.

It’s a new (and permanent!) shade that launches February 1st at Urban Decay as well as in Sephora in JCP stores. Uncut has fantastic, rich color payoff, but I noticed a particularly drier, flakier finish compared to other Urban Decay eyeshadows. It’s not as soft or as buttery as other shades in the formula. This shade left a slew of fall out in its wake as I applied it, so it’s the kind of product I’d recommend applying prior to your base products, because full clean-up is required. It is, however, still blendable and pigmented, even though drier textures tend to hurt both of those characteristics. It also lasted a full nine hours on the lid (no primer) without fading or creasing; and despite the fall out woes during application, there was only a very minor amount (barely noticeable) during wear.

Beautiful! I can deal with a little fallout with application for such a pretty shade.

  2. This shade is just beautiful. I’ve been on a hunt for purples, but have been disappointed by the lack of quality or variety I’ve found. Thanks for the swatches, Christine!

  3. Jordyn

This reminds me of Rockstar, maybe a bit more purple?

  4. GUSnail

Gorgeous! I’m such a sucker for purples!

  5. Elle Jaye

    Gorgeous! My kind of color!

  6. This shade looks gorgeous, but if the fall-out is really that bad I think I’ll pass..

  7. Isa

This shade is so wonderful on your eye <3

  8. Audrey

I love this. It is so beautiful. I must have it. It appears to be more burgundy and with more glimmer than uncut. Correct?

  9. Mariella

I thought for sure I’d be wanting this shadow but I am just losing my patience with glitter – I don’t want to have to deal with it – so I think I will likely pass on this one (or maybe not….)

What a cheeky name for an eyeshadow… lol

Won’t be buying this since I already have something similar, but I love the look you created!

  11. Reminds me of MAC beauty marked but 43253425 times nicer

  12. Tarah

Oh I don’t care about fallout when the color is that gorgeous. Must have!

This looks so pretty in your swatch. It was on top of my list from all these new shades, but after I compared it to LMdB Fig I’m pretty sure it won’t work for me at all. Fig is such a muddy brownish bruise color on me :(

  14. Sarah Chambless

How does this compare to Tornado in the Glinda set?

  15. Kami

When I saw the preview images I thought I won’t like any of them but I really really like this color.

  16. Regina

omg… your eyes are so gorgeous!

  17. Gorgeous. I really need a liner in this color! Or I could get this and use it to set black liner…ooh yes! I think that’s what I’ll do! :D

  18. Romaine

do yoy think that it could be a dup for too faced poisson orchid? maybe this one is more darker?

  19. It’s so nice to see a deep purple that isn’t chalky. A rare bird in the industry! I’ll have to check this out. Thanks, Christine. xo

This color is beautiful. I’m such a sucker for purples.

  21. would you say this is comparable to l’oreal smoldering plum? or is it close enough that i wouldn’t need both?

  22. Heather

How does this compair with Last call? it seems a little more purple with some glitter? Also are these shades not going to be available in Ulta? Reveiws go a long way in the desision process but I like feel a shadow before I buy it.

  23. caity

how does this compare to UD Hustle?

  24. Taylor

Does Urban Decay’s Rockstar compare at all? From the swatches, I think Rockstar is a bit more red/pink tone which makes it hard to wear on my pinky fair skin.
