Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder
Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder ($32.00 for 0.80 oz.) is supposed to be “inspired by nature’s most flattering pink and golden-light at dusk … to impart a lit-from-within radiance.” When all the heart-shaped beads are swirled together, the resulting color is a warm champagne-shimmered tan with a slightly frosted, shimmery finish. Chanel Sable Beige is similar but less orange. NARS Miss Liberty is lighter. NARS Satellite of Love is very similar but has more golden shimmer/sparkle.

Based on Too Faced’s description of this product, it seems to be designed to use all-over rather than as a very targeted, specific highlighter. In practice, I don’t think it is workablef or allover, and the reason is that it emphasizes imperfections in the skin from having too much frost/pearl in the beads. I thought it was a highlighter, actually, because it appears frosted on the skin and emphasized the pores along my cheeks. I don’t think it’s flattering used allover or as a highlighter on cheeks. Though the color is supposed to be buildable, it required several layers just to get it to kind of show up on my medium complexion. The beads just don’t want to give up product, so it wasn’t as easy to apply as I had hoped. The wear is average; six hours of good wear but noticeable fading after eight hours. The texture is slightly gritty from the sparkle and shimmer, and it never fully smooths out.

D+
It's not buildable enough to be a good highlighter, but then it's not subtle enough to work all-over. The finish emphasizes pores and imperfections of the skin's texture, so it doesn't enhance the complexion.

  1. Quite apart from being a subpar product, I could never buy this as it triggers my latent OCD – I want to lay those little beads FLAT so they look like lovehearts, not misshapen lumps!

At first glance I thought I was seeing a bunch of faces, like a tin of miniature doll heads!! Really creeped me out!!!

  3. The pearls look almost edible… like a nut mix, lol :-) What a shame they’re so disappointing. I think they actually look really pretty on you, but like I have said before, you can make anything look good.

  4. well the heart shaped beads were not exactly a promising beginning point for me.. (◐.̃◐)

I find it interesting how so many brands are trying to come out with products similar to Guerlain. I saw Pur Minerals and Lorac had some products that seemed to be takes on meteorites just like this one!

Ummm….First, it looks like peanut and are irregular- unappealing. Second, this cannot even compare to Guerlain Meteorite Pearls. It is stated “Guerlain spent years engineering a machine that could create perfectly shaped spheres, whose compact shape allowed a woman to pick up just enough product with her brush. The green, pink, white, and gold illuminating balls were so popular in their first year (thanks to the subtle glow they impart on skin), they were rationed at the Paris boutique. Americans, on the other hand, blew through their entire stock in a matter of weeks.” Guerlain’s packaging is meticulously impeccable…down to product itself. Third, you get what you pay for and where it is made. No one will ever convince me to buy cosmetics Made in China…I stopped buying food made in China years ago.

It actually looks lovely on you, Christine. From the review, I thought the photos would show pores on your face which the product highlighted, but you actually look flawless and based on the photos alone, I’d probably have bought this. Good thing I read your review.

  8. it’s so odd that you end up giving a lot of things that look really good on you a terrible ratings. this is seriously one of the better looks i have seen on you. i actually really like it on you. guess that’s just me though.

  9. I think it actually looks really good on you! Seems to me that you’ve reviewed highlighters that emphasized texture much more than this one in the past. This one gives you a lovely glow and the shade is perfect for you skin tone!

If you want heart shaped bits of things that impart some shimmer and little to no color, the Physicians Formula Happy Booster ones aren’t a bad alternative. You get less, but they’re cheaper.

It looks so cheap ! I love Two Faced but certainly not this product. I’ll pass !

  12. Christine, you’re just too good. Between your makeup skills and your photography skills, you make all these subpar products look fabulous.

I honestly feel like if I left this out on my vanity, my husband might wander over and accidently “eat” one of the peanuts!!!! Just….no.

  14. VickyM

It really looks like kind of a Guerlain meteorites imitation. However I love the retro look of the packaging and the fact the pearls look like multicolored peanuts :P . Too bad this product doesn´t deliver though.

Is it just me or do the beads look like little fetuses?!

  16. Trisha

Christine, love how honest and fair you are with your reviews!

I have always thought that Too Faced is aimed to teens. I think they use way too much glitter in their products. This weekend I got to buy Shadow Insurance so I stopped by the Too Faced counter. The poor MUA wanted to sell me that heart shaped blusher/highlighter you reviewed months ago. I told him I was 40 so glitter is a big no-no for me. He thought my face looked so flat that he insisted I needed the product. I understand them, they need to make a sell but I think that glitter party on a 40 year old gal is not the way to go. :)

I’ve found TooFaced as a brand to be very hit-or-miss. This looks like another miss. :(

Christine, I don’t know where I can ask that question! Please help, it’s really important for me. The thing is I has been looking for a gold and subtele higlighter for many months, with matte finish and actually without glow. The only one I was satisfied with was actually one small ringlet in the limited Guerlain Terra Inca powder. I am interested in look which Michelle Dockery has (there was one post about her hair on temptalia), she definitely uses such a subtle gold highligter on her cheekbones and it looks gorgeous. When I saw her photos I was sure that she wears something I am looking for! For example on that photo: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/08/30/article-2031723-0D77C79000000578-3_634x786.jpg
Christine, could you help and recommend me something? Most of higlighters are to intense, I just want a gentle gleam effect and light color. Thanks very much in advence! Ewa

  20. Thanks for reviewing this. It’s cute but to me, rather gimmicky – especially reading how it works
