Everyday Makeup: Neutral, Natural Eyes with Too Faced
Too Faced Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection ($34.00) is a new eyeshadow palette from Too Faced’s Naturally Naughty Collection for the fall season.
The palette contains nine different shades of eyeshadow crafted by Too Faced’s Creative Director, Jerrod Blandino, for easy, effortless looks that work for everyone. It contains: Heaven, a matte cream; Velvet Revolver, a matte, cool-toned taupe; Sexspresso, a matte dark brown; Silk Teddy, a shimmery pink-beige; Push-Up, a shimmery neutral medium brown; Erotica, a lightly shimmered dark charcoal taupe; Nude Beach, a glittery pink champagne; Honey Pot, a shimmery softly muted gold; and Cocoa Puff, a warm-toned chocolate brown with gold shimmer. Each of the three larger eyeshadows are 0.07 oz., while the six smaller shadows are 0.03 oz.
Included with the palette are three how-to cards, detailing the three looks — Day, Classic, and Fashion. For those more eyeshadow savvy, there are definitely many more than three possible looks to create from this palette of nine. I like that the palette contains a mix of mattes, shimmers, and high shimmer/glitters, because it allows you to maximize your looks by adding different dimensions and layers of textures. Also included is a small, pull-out drawer with a double-sided brush (sponge-tip applicator on one side, angled brush on the other side)–not a highlight or a brush I’d personally use unless it was an emergency.
All of the eyeshadows swatched smoothly and went on with a good amount of pigmentation, including the matte shades, which were also smooth and buttery–not chalky at all. I didn’t see any of these colors “drag.” My favorite shades were Honey Pot and Cocoa Puff. Cocoa Puff is especially stunning with the mix of gold shimmer layered into the chocolate brown. While Nude Beach is pretty, it is extremely frosty/glittery, so it has to be worn with a bit more care, particularly for those with deeper skin tones.
The packaging was cute, but I could have done without the pull-out drawer that only contained the brush (which I didn’t like or find particularly useful). By omitting the drawer, the palette would be slimmer and more streamlined. If you’re bothered by cardboard/paper packaging, this palette might not be for you, as well. I like the earth-friendly-ness of paper packaging (at least, compared to plastic), so it wasn’t an issue for me. I thought the packaging was cute, functional, and worked well overall.

Recommendation: If you’re looking for a go-to neutral eye palette, consider Too Faced’s Natural Eye. Nine great shades of neutral tone eyeshadows that all work well and go on smoothly (hey, it’s hard to find a palette with *all* winning shades!). If you prefer even softer neutrals or only like matte or semi-matte shades, this isn’t a good match for you. For $34, this product is well-worth a peek.

this palette is really good,i use it almost every single day and i love it,the eyeshadows are so great and pigmented ,personally my favorite shades are silk teddy, push up and erotica but i love nude beach too :)
i bought this really wanting to love it. :( Sadly "Heaven" doesn't show up on me at all, and velvet revolver seems to disappear after a few minutes of applying. (applying over MACs eye prep & prime, switching to urban decay when i run out) I'm an NW20 @ Mac. i love the "classic" look @ Colors, as well as cocoa puff & honey pot. Nude beach doesn't really have any fall out for me as i saw people talking about how terrible it was. I kind of regret purchasing it, because i could've got the colors i like in duos.
This was a great review. My sister's birthday is coming up and I was looking for a cute palette that I know she would use. Although she is older, she's not quite as makeup savvy as I am and I think those cards would be extremely helpful for her. For myself, since my birthday is a month and 22 day earlier, I, too, am going to splurge and get myself something nice--perhaps the Urban Decay Naked Palette. I took a peek at the review of that on here and was, not only pleased with the way the product seems, but also the way it was written. I've seen/read a lot of reviews on it, and yours seems to be the only one that isn't all about the hype for it. Thanks for giving me a great gift idea!
Ooh thank you for this one! I was thinking about purchasing it yesterday but maybe i'll just try to find similar coloures..
i've had this palette for a month now & have been using it every day since (: I was wondering if you know a MAC dupe for Velvet REvolver? (:
I've had my kit for over 6 months. I love it the only one that I'm making a dent in is velvet revolver I too would love to know of a Mac dupe for it! Thx love this site!
I found this exact palette today with same packaging changed slightly, and made by Almar sales company for $9.99. color names and shades are identical. It's at CosmoProf called natural eye palette
I just got it and it's really good. The cards give me good ideas of new cool looks to try. The shadows are amazing. Really worth the price. I got the last one at Sephora, and thank god I got it!
Blanc Type, Malt, Satin Taupe; Retrospeck, Amber Lights, Coquette; Jest, Amber Lights, Coquette+Embark
Yes, the colors have great pigment, tried at Ulta. Unfortunately, a little too much glitter and reminded me a lot of my pallet from Urban Decay - the beige color is very close to Urban Cowboy by Urban Decay.
the colours are very pretty, though i think i've got dupes of most of them...are these shades all available as singles? cuz i don't think i have anything like velvet revolver....
if you go to musing of a muse website she also does review on cosmetics! and there are swatches http://www.musingsofamuse.com/2009/06/too-faced-fall-collection-2009-maybe.html
I love this palette! I do agree that it is a "go to neutral" palette. It totally gets rid off the guess work on what to combine.
i brought the candlelight powder from that collection...it really does make u look like you are by candle light and its a good highlighter also.
I have the older, Naughty/Dark version of this kit. I love it. I agree with Sprut in that of the ones I ahve, the glittery ones do have bad fallout, but I still love it and I can't wait to try this one!
i think this pallete will come out sept/oct time too faced is stocked at boots/frasers and debenhams x
I saw this at Ulta the other day and considered buying it. I think I'm going to now that I've seen the swatches. I love almost all the shades!
Hey Temptalia! I was totally sold on this palette when I saw it at Ulta. What caught my eye was the picture of the model sporting both the nice and naughty looks. I just loved how it turned out on her. I haven't got this palette yet but I plan on getting it.
I like it but I really want to save up my money for the Richard Phillips quads! PS: are the Dior Skin Shimmers permanent (as in, will they still be up for sale by the time I gather the money needed, which could take months after the Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection)?
I have been waiting for my local Sephora to get this so I can buy it with my VIB discount! I hope I don't have to wait much longer. I agree about the packaging though, that extra drawer is useless.
