Tom Ford Vampire Kiss Lipstick
Tom Ford Vampire Kiss Lipstick

Tom Ford Vampire Kiss Lipstick ($49.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a vibrant, medium cherry red with cool, pinky undertones and a subtle ruby shimmer. It had incredibly rich, opaque color coverage in a single stroke, and the color applied evenly and smoothly to the lips without tugging or pulling. When I wore this shade, it lasted for almost seven hours and left behind a noticeable reddish stain. It was moderately hydrating while worn, and even after seven hours of wear, I felt no compulsion to apply lip balm after. Chanel La Precieuse (317) (LE, $32.00) is more matte. MAC Prepare for Pleasure (LE, $15.00) is more muted. MAC Glam (DC, $15.00) is similar. Giorgio Armani Red Fuchsia (503) (P, $32.00) is a bit darker. MAC Ronnie Red (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. MAC MAC Red (P, $15.00) is more matte. Guerlain Gwen (LE, $49.50) is slightly darker. Guerlain Vega (P, $35.00) is darker. Buxom Scoundrel (P, $21.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.

Shameless Nail Lacquer ($32.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark, warm red with a cream finish. It was nearly opaque in a single coat, but I applied two just to be sure for swatches. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, so the polish flowed well across the nail and the color was even and smooth from the get-go. It dried down to a naturally shiny finish, though I think it will look even plusher with a glossy top coat. I typically get a week or so of wear with Tom Ford’s formula–normal for me across most polishes. Dior Merveille (LE, $24.00) is warmer, lighter. Cult Nails Annalicious (LE, $12.00) is shimmery. China Glaze Hey Sailor (LE, $8.00) is not as warm-toned. Zoya Tamsen (P, $8.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.

P.S. — For holiday, Tom Ford released two new lip and nail colors, but I caved and bought the ones I didn’t receive yesterday (oops!) and hope to have those reviewed next week sometime (depending on when my order arrives!).

35 thoughts on “Tom Ford Vampire Kiss Lipstick & Shameless Nail Lacquer Reviews, Photos, Swatches

  1. I’ve been lusting over Tom Ford’s Holiday collection. He really knows how to make a good red lip, doesn’t he? Vampire Kiss looks incredibly rich and saturated, yum! I might cave in and go for one of the lipsticks, oops! Can’t wait for the other reviews Christine!

  2. Virginia

I’ve been wondering about Vampire Kiss. So pretty!

  3. Oh wow, Vampire Kiss might just be the most perfect red I have ever seen!

  4. beck

Wow that lipstick is gorgeous! Love that shade on you!
Also Vampire Kiss? How Halloween-ie :)
I just picked up Bite Beauty’s Tannin so i’m good
    on reds for a while!

  5. I need another red lipstick like I need a hole in the head, but this one is so beautiful… Actually the polish looks lovely too. I love the red that I grabbed from Tom’s last holiday collection and I might have to indulge again.

  6. Angela

Is it wrong to want this lipstick solely based on the name?

  7. abigailod

That is one stunning red lip color! And your nails are always so perfect, Christine! I wish I have that talent! (Even if I rarely wear nail paint).

  8. AngieButterfly

Beautiful lipstick. But lol @ “Vampire Kiss,” in all honesty.

  9. xamyx

I’ve seen better reds, and perfectly good reds at a fraction of the price, but I want these for the names alone. If they’re still available next month, I will strongly consider both!

  10. That is pureeeeee perfection :)
how gorgeous n stunning you are looking dear
    A plus plus plus plusssss

  11. Pretty lipstick! One of these days I’m going to breakdown and purchase Tom Ford makeup or perfume.I really want the Santal Blush perfume, might get it for Xmas. His products are nice but the prices always seem over inflated to me though.

    • They’re definitely inflated – I mean, you are not merely paying for quality – definitely paying for the name as well.

If you own a lot of perfumes, you might consider a sample/decant since a little goes a long way.

  12. Tiffanie

Pretty! How does this compare to Make Up For Ever #43 Moulin Rouge Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick?

  13. Alejandra

Are you wearing the Hourglass Ambient powder here by any chance? If so what shade? You have really really piqued my interest in those powders.
    The lipstick looks great.LE, correct?

  14. Hahaha Christine, I was thinking about the amazing wear you get out of nail polish, right? I got OPI gelcolour 8 days ago – so, gel polish which is meant to last up to two weeks without chipping – and not only did I have minor tip wear after only 24 hours, I now have actual chips on at least 5 nails! The scary part? That’s REALLY REALLY good going for me!! Oh well, we can’t have everything! x

    • Jade, what are you doing to your nails, OMG! Gel polish chipping? How long did it take for chips to start showing? I’ve only done the CND Shellac once and that stuff wasn’t moving at all when I tried it.

I mean, I’m glad it’s REALLY REALLY good wear for you even if it should be so much better!

      • LOL this post has made me laugh so much :D I’m a vet nurse trainee, so I’m not that surprised by the wear lol, I put my hands through the mill!! I have had Shellac and Gelish before, which have lasted better, so I’m suspicious of the OPI branded one. I just thought it was really funny haha!

  15. Tori

Ooh, that red lipstick looks so rich and dimensional :) I ordered mine from Nordies before this review appeared and I can’t wait to get my hands on it! Meanwhile, I’m eagerly awaiting your review of the other red because while I’m such a hoarder of red lipsticks, I’m really picky about the type of red. I only love blue reds and orangey reds; neutral reds look ‘meh’ on me and worse if they have just slightly more yellow than blue pigment in them. Also, please consider doing a nail polish application tutorial. I’m pretty competent with OPI and China Glaze but I fail miserably with Chanel and other high-end cosmetics brands (air bubbles and smudges galore). Your nails always look so amazingly perfect though in your reviews. Totally jelly of your mad skillz. :)

    • I couldn’t resist! Normally, I’m better about resisting TF color (unless it was a new blush, then I would have no will power at all), since I like his lipstick formula but don’t LOVE it like I do a Guerlain Rouge G, but I couldn’t resist this time!

      • Tori

:) I know. Tom Ford colours always get me though the formula isn’t my favourite. Now, if they would combine Tom Ford colours with the Hourglass formulation… I would have no money left.

  16. Sue

LOVE the new red lipstick, really makes a BOLD statement and people can’t help but notice. I think it makes me lips more kissable :)

  17. The formula sounds really really nice. I must try a Tom Ford lippie soon! That color is beautiful on you!

  18. OMG that lipstick is absolutely amazing! I have so many red lipsticks already, but this shade looks too pretty to pass up.

  19. Liz

    STUNNING!
I am not the biggest fan of the name ‘Vampire Kiss’ but the color is absolutely gorgeous.
Since I already own Reckless, Narcotic Rouge, Slander, and Scarlet Rouge I probably cannot justify purchasing this one unless you think this is different enough to warrant purchase?

  20. Ade

Christine, do you have the lipstick in Rouge Fatal one?
I think I’ll skip this since I already have GA Red Fuchsia 503, Buxom Scoundrel & Guerlain Gwen….
I really have to stop buying similar shade of red lipstick, we don’t have Tom Ford Beauty counter here, online shopping made me have a lot of dupes I don’t even need/want… :( *sigh*
Your color comparison swatches always been so helpful for me, thanks!
