The Spring Season: Guerlain Gemma Lipstick

Guerlain Gemma Rouge G Lipstick (#64) ($45.00) is a sweet pop of posey pink. It has a delicate gold sheen and shimmer, but it’s one of my favorite pinks for the spring. It has enough brightness to pop when worn alone, but it can still be a nice way to complement a subtle spring eye, too. Creamy, opaque, and easy to apply, Rouge Gs are high on quality (and high on price, I know). They have Guerlain’s traditional scent to them, though it does seem a bit subdued in comparison to their KissKiss line of lipsticks and glosses. The wear time is four to six hours for me on these.

Is this the perfect pink for you? Would you wear it?

The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

Christine, can you clarify which swatch is Georgia and which is Gemma? In your review of Georgia, the same swatch picture showing both lists the one on the right as Georgia. They're both gorgeous, but I'd love to know the difference!

Gemma is on the right!

this shade is absolutely lovely :)

Love this color! Hate the price.

Super pretty! Too bad the price is super off-putting ... = (

awww! I so love this color! 45 is too expensive :( i cant believe how ppl complain about mac with behing less than half of that... but its a looolvely color!

I love this one, this is one of my favourite shades too. :)

Beautiful, beautiful color this Gemma lipstick, I should check it out at Sephora see if they have it :)

I should of bought Gemma! I got Georgia and it came out a dark pink for me. oh well, gives me an excuse to head to Nordstrom during my lunch time :-)

I love this colour! I would totally venture out more into the lipstick world but I don't really know what goes well with my skin tone. Can anyone help? I'm a fair skinned Chinese girl!

I think this would work for you :)

love the color but not the price

This is one of the prettiest pinks I have seen, I hope this colour is permanent.

Do you know any similar shades to this?

Not at the moment, but maybe at the end of the Spring Season!

Christine, Can you help us warm-toned ladies figure out how to wear cool toned lipsticks? I can never seem to pull off cool tones! Does it require a warm blush/eye or cool blush/eye?

Hi Diane, It's really, really about experimentation! I do find that if I want to wear a cool lipstick, going for a warm blush and maybe a cool eye works. Sometimes a warm eye, cool blush and cool lips is the way to go.

Thanks! I think my problem is I try to make both my eyes and cheeks cool if my lips are cool... And it doesn't work! I'll experiment some more! I want to be able to wear cool tones too!

I love this color for spring and summer.
