My mom is a singer and she’s been singing and playing guitar in bands since she was 17, touring around the world, you name it. All my life, growing up, I had a daytime mom and then a night mom. Nighttime mom was like a glamorous ghost. I only saw her a few times onstage as a very young child, so for the most part I would see her going out looking like a different, sparkly person or coming home ready to rub it all off. I could only imagine the fancy things she was going to do out there in the wide world. I think that’s when I realized that makeup had some kind of power. It’s a silly thing, because other than stage makeup my mother usually wore very little makeup and now she thinks I’m weird for being so interested in it because she’s SO over it. Hehe.
