How has the economy affected your beauty routine? Are buying less? Budgeting more? Finding cheaper staples?

Not really….the only reason I slowed down with my spending especially this X-mas is because I’m in the middle of purchasing my first house….yay.

  2. Valerie says:

No, because I don’t drive, I still live with my parents and I’m 17.

  3. Nope!! Hasn’t slowed down my spending. If anything I think I am buying more! Now it seems like there are always great sales, like Sephora extended F&F, free shipping, etc. When the economy is bad everything goes on sale! So it’s a great time to shop! I feel like I am doing my part to stimulate the economy LOL

I try to stick with things I really want or need. I still spend around the same, but there’s not so much of those impulse buys anymore.

Not really but i do tend to splurge at this time on xmas sets eg yesterday i bought the channel, dior and burberry xmas coffrets. This way i get to try and wear different fragrances for less than what it would cost to get full sized bottles. Another thing i tend to do is that if i want a certain product i would browse like 3 sites that have the product and if any of them has a gift with purchase for that product then i purchase it from them.

I agree with the comments above. My spending hasn’t slowed down because of all the great sales, gift sets that I should be buying for others, but end up getting for myself, and the Sephora F&F sale recently. Maybe slowing down will be my new year’s resolution…

No influence. Plus, I’m in Canada. Our economy is fine.

  8. Kella says:

Well, no, I’m in Canada. BUT.. our dollar sucks now, so I end up paying a lot more for makeup I order from the U.S. Which really pisses me off. Grrrr

I’ve tried to budget myself, but MAC is the devil with all this good stuff coming out( and so are you Christine- temptress :) ~ so there is no way this budget thing is working. I’m slowly but surely maxing out my credit card, which isn’t good. But hey, I’ll be poor, living in a box but looking good! LOL

I try to purchase my MAC stuff, when I can get a 10% or 5 Euro discount. So I am going to buy my first quarters mascara next week with a 10 % discount and I am going for a new eye shadow to complete my collection. This approach needs a good calculation, but it works, because I will move to my own apartment next year and I need a lot of money for my furniture.

I find out that i’m spending more than ever! sadly, I wasn’t into makeup until two years ago and I didn’t buy tons of makies until last year, which may I add, I spent over $5000 in them and many of them I don’t even find uses of. I discarded some, and others, we’ll see.. I feel so guilty that I’m broke now. Oh, why…

i’m glad i’m still a baby at home :P haha okay, maybe not a baby. i’ll be turning 17 in a month’s time, i’m trying to splurge less on make up but it’s quite hard. especially since the holidays are coming up and festivities always create a temptation for shopping!

My personal beauty routine is pretty simple: moisturizer and some occasional mascara and eyeliner. It’s the beauty of my clients that I’m worried about.

There’s the fact that because of this economy, I really have to start looking for more effective and inexpensive products as well as maintaining a client base who will pay me without feeling like buying makeup services is a luxury.
