Recently i’ve been a complete sucker for copying other people’s looks/parts of their look. Infact, I have even made a small notebook to carry around so that if i do see something awesome on anyone i make sure to note it down for another time! It’s great when I’m lacking imagination one monday morning lol.

Well, not exactly. I use others’ as guidelines especially for the colors matching because I’m not good at the matching. The look might look nice on other but mingt not on everyone.

I think that’s a really great way to do things, though! It’s good to take things and adapt them to ourselves :)

I dont like to copy other styles but I like to look at them for inspiration. Looking at the way others do makeup helps me think out the box from my usual routine… its fun. ^_^

I like to look at other looks for inspiration. Not copying the whole thing but I also look for new ways to get the look.

Christine

I think a lot of people do the same, Sharonda :) I think it’s a great to take something away from other people’s work like that.

Yup!
I actually have a lil “portfolio” of magazine clippings of makeup looks that I like to use when I’m in a “rut”
And of course…a whole folder in computer devoted to makeup looks xD.

Well, you already know my answer to this: hell yeah! :P Usually I substitute if I don’t have the product or don’t like a certain colour combination. But I get inspired by other looks all the time. I have done sooo many of yours, lots of Leesha’s, lots of others from YouTube tutorials, tons of MAC face charts. Inspiration is awesome! :D

Christine

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

lol, Skyler ;) It’s so great that you find other people’s looks inspiring!

And thank you!

I definitely look at other people’s looks (like yours) for inspiration! Some I copy down to the last detail but some I alter a bit coz of the differences in eye shape, skintone, etc. But it’s also fun for me to come up with my own looks as well and hopefully, I’ll be able to share them with you guys soon!

Christine

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Aww! I’m flattered!

I hope you can share them with us!

I wouldn’t say “copy” persay, because I like my own style. I do look through magazines and online tutorials to get an idea of what colors are out there and what makes a good blend, then I take it from there. You give great ideas and I thank you for that.

Christine

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

It’s great that you can be inspired by these things! Thanks!

I try to be a spitting image of you Christine! You should be a model. Oh, I could just picture you as a fafi doll too! I try to do all the looks you do Christine, but I’m not nearly as talented in the eye area. I can’t ever seem to get my eyelashes to stick up like spikes like you do. I don’t know if I’ll ever master the looks like you do, but I will definitely try. I adore and idolize you in every way. I think that you have changed the lives of many women, old and young, including mine and are an angel sent from above. Everything you do is absolutely wonderous!!! If I could copy everything about you I would! I print out copies of your looks and it takes me about 3 hours to achieve your look. How do you make it look so effortless and perfectly statue esque?

Christine

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Aww, Pearl, you are really too much. I appreciate your compliments. I’m so honored that you think so high of me!

Myra

I’m late, but I just found out youtube has a make-up tutorial, so I somewhat try to mirror the look, most of the youtube artist that I’ve come across aren’t black/African descent (which I am) so I definitely have to substitution some of the colors but I mainly look and watch to see where they place certain colors and how they blend the colors, for some ides. And like most of the people who comment, I too have created a makeup book, with some of your works and the handwritten work from youtube, for days I have no idea on what to do.

Christine

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Hey Myra! Yep, YouTube can be great inspiration with all of its video tutorials!

Thanks!
