YSL Forbidden Burgundy (12) Rouge Volupte Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is an opaque, reddened plum with a glossy shine.  All Rouge Voluptes have this lightly sweetened mango-y scent (I note it as just generally, but my nose might not be sophisticated enough…), but I don’t notice any taste.  It’s moisturizing and wears four to six hours on me.

When I first tried Rouge Voluptes, they were one of the first high-end lipsticks I had ever tried, and I thought they were the bee’s knees. Over time, I’ve discovered lipsticks that I prefer (formula-wise), but Forbidden Burgundy is still one of my favorite shades of Rouge Voluptes. The Rouge Volupte formula is incredibly creamy, and while some of the lighter shades are almost thick in their creaminess, their darker, almost glossy, shades like Forbidden Burgundy are not.

I do recommend a lip liner on deeper shades like this one if you’re prone to your lip color bleeding, because the creaminess of Rouge Voluptes make it more likely to bleed.

You will need the following…

• Eyes: Apricot Pink pigment (peachy-pink base), Juiced eyeshadow (dirty orange), Pink Freeze eyeshadow (pastel pink), Expensive Pink eyeshadow (pink with peach), Texture eyeshadow (warm brown), Hush eyeshadow (soft pink-based highlighter), Feline kohl power (black), Plushlash mascara (black)
• Cheeks: Petticoat mineralize skinfinish (raspberry pink)
• Lips: YSL Forbidden Burgundy lipstick (deep berry), Luminary lustreglass (pink with purple opalescence)
• Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
• Substitutes: Apricot Pink = Pink Bronze; Feline = Graphblack; Petticoat = Dollymix

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Apricot Pink pigment all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inne lid, apply Juiced eyeshadow using the 239. Apply Pink Freeze eyeshadow to the middle of the lid. Darken the outer lid using Expensive Pink eyeshadow. Deepen crease with Texture eyeshadow gently patted and blended into the outer crease. Sweep Hush eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Feline kohl power on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Petticoat using the 129. Apply YSL Forbidden Burgundy lipstick to lips, and then top with Luminary lustreglass for color and shine.

• Eyes: Chanel Beiges de Chanel Quad, Urban Decay Bourbon 24/7 Liner, Plushlash mascara (black)
• Cheeks: Nuance mineralize blush (soft peach)
• Lips: YSL Forbidden Burgundy rouge volupte lipstick (raspberry-wine), Givenchy Plum By Night Pop Gloss Crystal (sheer berry-pink)
• Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
• Substitutes: Chanel Beiges de Chanel = Blanc Type, Patina, Woodwinked, Brun; Nuance = Honour

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner lid, apply the bottom left color to the mid-way point using your 239 brush. Apply the bottom right color of the quad to your outer lid using the 239 brush. Darken the crease using the upper left, dark brown color and gently deposit the color, being careful not to over-blend. Highlight brow and soften the area above the crease with the upper right color. Finish with Bourbon 24/7 Liner on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Nuance using the 129. Apply YSL Forbidden Burgundy lipstick to lips, and then top with Givenchy Plum by Night gloss for color and shine.
