Here’s my first Starflash/Lustre Twins look! :) I’m hoping to kick a few more out over the next few days. It’s been a pretty rough week over at Temptalia HQ, which is my excuse for lack of looks (that and I really wanted to play with Starflash, and I didn’t have it yet!). Jury duty this week (unscathed, total score!), and Magellan (my puppy) was neutered on Wednesday. We also asked our vet to check his hips, and we consented to an x-ray (it’s a painful x-ray, so it requires him to be under anaesthesia). Turns out, poor Mellan has severe hip dysplasia. We haven’t decided what to do yet, and we don’t see the orthopedic surgeon until the 11th. Hopefully he’ll drop some knowledge on us so we can decide then (surgery now, let nature take its course/surgery later). But yes, tough week! Can’t wait for it to end, LOL.

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: Baselight paint (pale white-gold cream), Dreammaker eyeshadow (shimmery white-gold), Mink & Sable eyeshadow (golden olive green), Smoke & Diamonds eyeshadow (gray with gold flecks), Feline kohl power (black liner), Plushlash mascara (black)
  • Cheeks: Nuance mineralize blush (soft peach-pink)
  • Lips: Ripe & Ready/Soft & Lush Pro Longwear Lustre Colour (coral-pink lipstick/sheer pink gloss)
  • Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Dreammaker = Nylon; Mink & Sable = Sumptuous Olive; Smoke & Diamonds = Silver Ring; Feline = Graphblack; Nuance = Peachykeen; Ripe & Ready/Soft & Lush = Skew lipstick/Slicked Pink lipgelee

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Baselight paint all over the lid as the base with the 249. Apply Dreammaker eyeshadow all over the lid with the 239. Darken the outer lid using Mink & Sable eyeshadow and drag into crease using the 239. Define crease with Smoke & Diamonds eyeshadow using the 272 to lightly blend it in. Sweep Dreammaker underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Feline kohl power on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Nuance mineralize blush using the 129. Apply Ripe & Ready/Soft & Lush to lips.

I think brushes are essential to good makeup, but expensive brushes are NOT essential to good makeup. I used a cheap random brush I found at my boyfriend’s mom’s house (of all things I forgot, I forgot my 239!) to apply this look. It didn’t go on as pigmented, perhaps, as it would have with the 239, but I got a lovely soft look that worked just as well. Even though the brush was cheap (and it wasn’t even really the right brush to use for shadow application, LOL), it felt relatively soft and worked out. So, moral of the story? Quality brushes can be found to fit any budget.

I used Soft Ochre paint pot on lid, Goin’ Bananas eyeshadow (LE) on inner lid, Evening Aura eyeshadow (LE) on middle of lid, Espresso eyeshadow on outer lid and crease, Femme-fi eyeshadow (LE) to highlight brow, Graphblack technakohl on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. I had Suncentered Color Forms powder (LE) on cheeks. I wore Tropic Glow slimshine (LE) with Nymphette lipglass on my lips.

Goin’ Bananas = Bright Sunshine; Evening Aura = Goldmine + Orange; Femme-fi = Shroom; Suncentered = Cantaloupe; Tropic Glow = Lovelorn

This is a look I did on Wednesday, but I’m just getting around to posting now. It’s the look I wore for my actual oral argument, which I got complimented on, so yay, guess it’s court-approved! :)

I used Soft Ochre paint pot on lid, Ricepaper eyeshadow all over lid, Cork eyeshadow on outer crease and lid, Espresso lightly in outer crease, Ricepaper eyeshadow above brow and on crease, UD Stash 24/7 Liner on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. I wore Margin blush on cheeks. I had Sandy B lipstick with Full On Lust lipglass (LE) on my lips.

I have my practice oral argument, which is basically where I speak for eight minutes, then my opponent argues against me, and then I have another two minutes for rebuttal. What’s great is that it seems impossible to prepare for, so while I have some prepared remarks, I’m mostly going to wing it. Thankfully, tonight is practice, and I’m banking on it being a huge learning experience so I don’t make a total fool out of myself next Wednesday when I do it for real (in front of real judges!!–but the case is fake). Court attire required at the practice, nonethelesss, hence needing to do work safe makeup for real! (I have a feeling this may be “too much” by court standards, though. Poo!)

I used Soft Ochre paint pot on lid, Ricepaper eyeshadow all over lid, Brun eyeshadow in outer crease, Soft Brown eyeshadow in outer crease, Patina eyeshadow on outer lid, Ricepaper eyeshadow on brow and lower lash line, Blacktrack fluidline on upper and lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. I had Margin blush with Scult sculpting powder on cheeks. I wore Mari-sheeno lipstick (LE) with Moonbathe lipglass (LE) on my lips.

Mari-sheeno = no dupe!; Moonbathe = Love Nectar

My boyfriend asked me, “Why don’t you do more matte looks?” So fine! Here’s a matte look! I probably don’t do matte looks often because until I got Soft Ochre, I could never find a matte-base that I liked enough. No excuse now, I guess!  The only that annoys me is Blanc Type photographs poorly – it looks a lot whiter than it does in person (in fact, in person, you can hardly tell!). Boo!  Anyone else had that happen to them?

I used Soft Ochre paint pot all over lid, Blanc Type eyeshadow on inner lid, Soft Brown eyeshadow on middle of lid, Brun eyeshadow on outer lid, Copperlate eyeshadow on outer crease, Blanc Type eyeshadow on brow, Grain eyeshadow on lower lash line, Blacktrack fluidline on upper and lower lash lines, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. I wore Margin blush with Dior Amber Diamond SkinShimmer to highlight cheeks. I had Mari-sheeno lipstick (LE) with Dejarose lipglass (LE) and Cult Fave lipglass (LE) on my lips.

Mari-sheeno = NO DUPE; Dejarose = Pink Poodle; Cult Fave = Cultured
