Wet 'n' Wild Sweet as Candy Eyeshadow Trio
Wet ‘n’ Wild Sweet as Candy Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Sweet as Candy Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Sweet As Candy Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) is like a palette of Neopolitan ice cream! There is a bright, warm white with a metallic sheen; medium-dark chocolate brown with a metallic sheen; and berry-tinged pink with subtle yellow undertones with a metallic sheen. I found all three shades to have a higher level of sheen, more so than the typical frost.

my thoughts on the formula: Color Icon Eyeshadows are definitely some of the best eyeshadows you’ll find in the drugstore, and this trio is well-pigmented, smooth to the touch, and the colors themselves performed well enough in a wear test, though there was some minor but noticeable fading after eight hours. These seem to work best directly over a base, rather than layered on top of each other–like I layered the eyelid shade over the crease shade, and I felt like I had to pack more of it on to get it to really show.

A
One of the best trios I've seen from Wet 'n 'Wild, because the pigmentation on all three shades is excellent, along with a really smooth, soft texture. I did find it didn't wear as well as some of my favorite eyeshadows do, but they hold up remarkably well that I think most will find it excusable at this price point.

Wet 'n' Wild I Got Good Jeans Eyeshadow Trio
Wet ‘n’ Wild I Got Good Jeans Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio: I Got Good Jeans

Wet ‘n’ Wild I Got Good Jeans Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) includes a pale, silvery blue with a frost-metallic finish; deep, navy blue with a soft frost finish; and a darkened, yellow gold with a soft metallic finish. The color pay off was really nice on all three shades–very true-to-pan. Each shade was smooth to the touch, too. I had minor fall out with the gold shade and the slightest fading with the navy blue when worn.

my thoughts on the formula: Color Icon Eyeshadows are definitely some of the best eyeshadows you’ll find in the drugstore, and this trio is pretty good overall. The eyeshadows are soft, smooth, and well-pigmented. I noticed a little bit of fall out with the gold shade and minor fading with the blue–both being very slight and more nitpicky than anything else.

This is definitely one of the better variations from the new spring trios! These are common enough shades that they make great affordable alternatives to higher-end shades like Urban Decay Mary Jane, MAC Deep Truth, and MAC Goldmine.

Wet 'n' Wild Spoiled Brat Eyeshadow Trio
Wet ‘n’ Wild Spoiled Brat Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio: Spoiled Brat

Wet ‘n’ Wild Spoiled Brat Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) includes a frosted light-medium silver, dark matte black with silver sparkle, and fuchsia pink with a satin-frost finish.

I had major issues with the crease shade, because I really had to pack on the color to even get a somewhat solid swatch (the image included in this post is about four layers of product).  Even in the swatch, the silver sparkles are nearly invisible. To make matters worse, the black shade fades within a few hours of wear (not that it started out particularly intense). Wet ‘n’ Wild can do frost finishes pretty well, but more matte shades like the black shade in this palette really leave something to be desired.

my thoughts on the formula: Color Icon Eyeshadows are definitely some of the best eyeshadows you’ll find in the drugstore, and this trio is, unfortunately, a bit of a mixed bag. The silver and fuchsia shade are soft, smooth, and pigmented. The black (crease) shade fades after a few hours of wear in addition to lacking pigmentation and being chalky, stiff, and difficult to work with.

I'm not sure why the formula they use for their matte shades seems to be lacking both texture and pigmentation, but I hope they find a way to improve upon it in the future. I feel like it detracts from an otherwise noteworthy eyeshadow formula.

Wet 'n' Wild I'm Feeling Retro Eyeshadow Trio
Wet ‘n’ Wild I’m Feeling Retro Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio: I’m Feeling Retro

Wet ‘n’ Wild I’m Feeling Retro Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a mix of bright pops of color and a softer brow bone shade… that actually makes sense!  The brow bone shade is a pale white with a frosted finish–it’s a touch sheer.  The crease shade is a moody medium-dark blue with a frost finish.  The eyelid shade is a fuchsia-purple with a pink iridescence/duochrome–think shades like MAC Stars ‘n Rockets and Urban Decay’s Fishnet.

my thoughts on the formula: Color Icon Eyeshadows are definitely some of the best eyeshadows you’ll find in the drugstore, and this trio is well-pigmented, smooth to the touch, and the colors themselves performed well in a wear test–easy to apply and blend while lasting the eight hours I wore it for (without any fading that I could see).   The brow bone shade wasn’t quite as pigmented as the other two shades but I wouldn’t say it’s sheer (decent but not good, you know?).

The two colored shades are fun, pigmented, and love that the fuchsia-purple shade is more of a duochrome finish, too.  You just don't get to see that in this price range usually.

Wet 'n' Wild Silent Treatment Eyeshadow Trio
Wet ‘n’ Wild Silent Treatment Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio: Silent Treatment

Wet ‘n’ Wild Silent Treatment Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a neutral-themed eyeshadow trio that performs nicely and lasts all day (I included some photos of the look I used to test this trio about six hours after application).  It’s a little cool-toned, but the soft peach highlighter adds a touch of warmth. The crease shade is a dark, neutral-cool brown with gold shimmer–I was surprised at how it didn’t come off as a warmer brown from all of the gold shimmer.  I did feel that the gold flecks did not really come across when applied, but they didn’t land all over my under eye, either.    The eyelid shade is a mauve-tinted silvered brown; it’s a surprisingly complex shade.

my thoughts on the formula: Color Icon Eyeshadows are definitely some of the best eyeshadows you’ll find in the drugstore, and this trio is well-pigmented, smooth to the touch, and the colors themselves performed well in a wear test–easy to apply and blend while lasting the eight hours I wore it for (without any fading that I could see).  However, these seem to work best directly over a base, rather than layered on top of each other–like I layered the eyelid shade over the crease shade, and I felt like I had to pack more of it on to get it to really show.

P.S. – I used this trio to do a drop test – I dropped it from 4 feet above tile floor, and it survived completely intact. The packaging did not break or crack, and the eyeshadow themselves were unharmed.

The Silent Treatment trio worked out really well, and I think these are some nice neutrals, not just because of color pay off, but the shades themselves--interesting and not too warm or cool.

Wet 'n' Wild I Dream of Greenie Eyeshadow Trio
Wet ‘n’ Wild I Dream of Greenie Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio: I Dream of Greenie

Wet ‘n’ Wild I Dream of Greenie Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a new green-hued trio for spring. It contains a pale, silvery green-tinged white with a frosted finish, medium grass green with a softly shimmered finish, and a bright yellowed chartreuse with an overlay of pale gold shimmer-glitter.

my thoughts on the formula: Color Icon Eyeshadows are definitely some of the best eyeshadows you’ll find in the drugstore, and this trio is on par with high-end eyeshadows. There’s a reason why they won an Editor’s Choice Award (or three!). The new I Dream of Greenie trio is one of the best of the six new spring trios, too. The texture is soft and smooth without being powdery or chalky, and the colors are true-to-pan and apply nicely.

final thoughts: It’s not often enough that you find richly pigmented brights in the aisles of the drugstore, but Wet ‘n’ Wild has definitely raised the bar with their Color Icon formula, and I Dream of Greenie exemplifies the quality of the new formula.
