Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) now include these four shades in the permanent range: Goldmine (gold shimmer with gold micro-sparkle), Freak (bright green shimmer), Junkie (metallic team shimmer with gold micro-sparkle), Deep End (bright metallic peacock shimmer), and LSD (navy shimmer with bright turquoise micro-sparkle). Out of these five, Goldmine and Freak are entirely new, while the other shades have been released in exclusive sets/kits.

Goldmine is a medium gold with moderate orange undertones and a soft sheen and light sprinkling of darker gold sparkle. It had good pigmentation in a single pass and layered to mostly opaque color. Make Up For Ever #9L is slightly lighter. Urban Decay Eldorado is darker, more orange-toned. Urban Decay Honey is much darker, more molten, and browner. It’s closer to Eldorado than it is to Honey, but those who love both will easily see the difference.

Freak is a light-medium green with a subtle golden sheen and an almost cool-toned base color. It had so-so color in a single pass, and it didn’t quite build up to fully opaque color. Urban Decay Graffiti is much darker and cooler-toned. I couldn’t think of a shade that was really similar to this.

Junkie is a bluish-teal with teal and gold sparkle. It has so-so pigmentation in a single stroke, but it is more buildable. MAC Undercurrent is darker, more green-based. MAC Blue Noon is brighter.

Deep End is a brightened blue-teal with a pearly sheen. It had decent color payoff in one stroke, but it is best layered as it builds up to mostly opaque color. MAC Float on By is darker but similar. Urban Decay Electric is brighter and bluer (as are Make Up For Ever #7L and Tarina Tarantino Kanzashi). Milani Aqua is a touch darker. Urban Decay Flipside is slightly more subdued but similar.

LSD is a blackened navy blue base with a ton of lighter blue sparkle and shimmer. It is a weaker shade in a single pass, but it builds up well. MAC Fly-by-Blu is similar.

Goldmine and Freak were the first two shades I tested for wear after swatching them; I wore one on each eye and on the lower lash line.  Both shades lasted for eight hours well without smudging though there was slight fading.  I typically get between eight and ten hours of wear with Urban Decay’s eyeliners with little to no fading and definitely no smudging/migration.  They have a slightly creamy, slightly waxy consistency that enables easy glide across the lid and lash line (no tugging or pulling) but usually requires two or three passes of the liner to achieve full color coverage.

	Of these, Deep End was my favorite because it had the best pigmentation and smoothest texture. LSD has a very interesting look on the eye, because of how sparkly it is. I wish Freak popped more; it's slightly brightening but kind of pale.

Green-Teal Eyeliners: Your Guide

Surprisingly, not a lot of real dupes here – a couple that are similar, but the finishes tended to separate one from another. Also interesting? How much MAC dominates the green-ish teal eyeliners that I own!

1. Urban Decay Covet is a green-based teal with a soft sheen. MAC Blue Noon is a touch lighter.
2. MAC Undercurrent is a darkened, green-teal with gold shimmer.
3. MAC Minted is a darkened teal with a green tinge.
4. MAC Mystery is a blackened teal with a black-brown base.
5. Make Up For Ever #20L is a green-teal with a barely-there sheen.
6. MAC Jade Way is a darkened green with a hint of teal.
7. Urban Decay Junkie is a Green-Teal with a green-gold shimmer. It’s much bluer in comparison to MAC Undercurrent. (LE)
8. MAC Blue Noon is a medium teal with a hint of blue. It is lighter than MAC Minted. (LE)
9. MAC Float on By is a bluish-teal with a strong sheen. (LE)
10. MAC Practice Makes Perfect is a dark blue-based teal. (LE)

Urban Decay Electric 24/7 Eye Pencils Set

Urban Decay Electric 24/7 Eye Pencils Set ($32.00) includes five travel-sized versions of: Perversion (matte darkest black), Ransom (deep shimmery purple with blue shift), Woodstock (shimmery hot pink), Radium (shimmery bright blue), and Junkie (bright green with gold sparkle).

I’m a long-time fan of the 24/7 Eye Pencils, because they have just enough creaminess for easy gliding across the lash line but not so much that it results in smudging or running. It has a large color range, and they last quite awhile. When I’m doing a look, I often reach for this formula, because it wears all day for me.

• Perversion is a really deep, dark black with a matte finish. It’s very creamy (more so than the majority of the 24/7 Pencils) but still works well.
• Ransom is a violet purple with a subtle red undertone and a satiny sheen. The pigmentation is hit or miss; over the years, I’ve had great color from Ransom pencils, but some pencils yield less (the one I received in this set was more of a dud).  The most comparable liner would be Woodstock (the liquid eyeliner).
• Woodstock is a fuchsia-red pink with a satiny sheen. The pigmentation was decent but not fully opaque in a single pass. It is buildable (see the larger swatch).
• Radium is a brightened medium blue with a subtle, silvery sheen. It’s nicely pigmented in a single pass.
• Junkie is a bluish-teal color base with green and gold sparkle. It is similar to MAC Undercurrent — but it seems to have a slightly darker, blue base.

I probably gripe about this each year, but it’s always frustrating as long-time Urban Decay buyer to see these kits, because Urban Decay loves to include a few never-before-seen shades into each kit among shades you might already own.  The Electric Set is the best set to fight against that trend, as Woodstock, Radium, and Junkie are all new and exclusive to the set, and Perversion was only available in the 15th Anniversary set.  I also like how they made one set dominated by bold shades and the other more neutral.  Nevertheless, each shade is 0.03 oz. and a full-sized version is 0.04 oz. and costs $18 a pop–so this kit has $67.50 worth of eyeliner for $32.
