Urban Decay Diamond Dog Moondust Eyeshadow
Urban Decay Diamond Dog Moondust Eyeshadow

Urban Decay Diamond Dog Moondust Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “deep brown with white-gold sparkle.” It’s a medium-dark brown with a hint of gray and an orange-tan undertone and champagne sparkle/shimmer. Chanel Intuition #3 is less sparkly. Urban Decay Nevermind is warmer and less sparkly. MAC Aloha is warmer, more metallic. Make Up For Ever #15 is similar in color but not in finish. Urban Decay Midnight Rodeo is cooler-toned and less sparkly. Inglot #402 is similar but does not have glitter/sparkle.

Applied dry, the payoff was semi-sheer, but it intensified to mostly opaque color when applied with a damp brush. When using a damp brush, it does help to minimize fall out during application (not entirely but certainly less than if applied dry). Without an adhesive or tacky base, Diamond Dog is prone to fall out during wear. The sparkle of the eyeshadow is very, very fine, so it’s not as noticeable as the micro-glitter fall out from Urban Decay’s powder eyeshadows. The effect of the eyeshadow is very smooth, reflective, sparkling, and shimmering–more like glimmering water. I didn’t have any trouble with the underlying color creasing or fading when I wore it. For a comparison to their Stardust eyeshadows, please read this review.

Diamond Dog is best applied with a damp brush (and over an adhesive or tacky base, if you have one) in order to achieve the best color payoff, smoothness, and least amount of fall out.
