Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil: Demolition, Perversion, Woodstock

Urban Decay will be adding three previously limited edition shades of 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencils ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.): Demolition (matte deepest darkest brown), Perversion (matte blackest carbon black), and Woodstock (bright fuchsia pink with silver micro glitter). I’m sure fans of the formula will be more than pleased to see such an ultra rich (and coveted) black made available year-round. No need to go easy any more!

• Demolition is a dark brown with subtle amber warmth around the edges. This is a new and exclusive shade. Try CoverGirl Brown as a possible dupe.
• Perversion is a really deep, dark black with a matte finish. It’s very creamy (more so than the majority of the 24/7 Pencils) but still works well.
• Woodstock is a fuchsia-red pink with a satiny sheen and silver sparkle. The pigmentation was decent but not fully opaque in a single pass. It is buildable (see the larger swatch).

I’ve reviewed Urban Decay’s eyeliner formula many times in the past, including this past holiday season as they launched two holiday sets of pencils (which is where you’ll find all three of these). The all-day wear from these eyeliners is the obvious selling point, but I also really like the range of colors and that they’re just creamy enough to glide across the lash line without tugging but not so creamy that they smudge.  Both Demolition and Perversion apply like a dream, while Woodstock is sheerer than your average Urban Decay liner.

Sneak Peek: Urban Decay 15th Anniversary 24/7 Eyeliner Set

In 2011, Urban Decay will turn 15 years, and to celebrate, they are releasing a set of 15 24/7 Eyeliners. The 15th Anniversary 24/7 Eyeliner Set ($92.00 for 0.04 oz. x 15) includes full-sized eyeliners in:

Stray Dog (shimmering brown taupe), Corrupt (dark metallic brown with silver glitter), Bourbon (medium brown with gold sparkle), Midnight Cowboy (beige with gold sparkle), Baked (bold bronze), Stash (dark olive with gold sparkle), Mildew (deep mossy green), Perversion (blackest carbon black), Electric (bright aquamarine blue), Binge (deep metallic navy blue), Ransom (bright iridescent purple), Asphyxia (pinky iridescent purple), Rockstar (darkest eggplant), Zero (zealous black), and Uzi (gunmetal grey with sparkle).

All of the eyeliners included in the set are full-sized (0.04 oz. each), and a full-sized eyeliner retails for $17, which means you are getting $255 worth of eyeliner for $92, plus Urban Decay’s Grind House (their sharpener, retails for $9), which is actually my favorite sharpener–use it for all brands myself.

It is a great set for someone who is new to Urban Decay or who hasn’t yet stocked up on their 24/7 Eyeliners, because there are a lot of permanent inclusions and overlap with previous holiday mini-sets. This holiday’s Jackpot 24/7 Eyeliner Set included seven that overlapped (Stash, Mildew, Electric, Binge, Ransom, Rockstar, and Zero), while last year’s Super Stash Eyeliner Set included six that overlapped (Stash, Rockstar, Ransom, Binge, Corrupt, Zero).

The good news? There are six shades not currently available permanently, but if they were–all six would set you back $102 (still more than the whole set).

• Stray Dog is a mushroom brown–definitely taupe. This is a new shade exclusive to the set.
• Corrupt is a dark chocolate brown with warm amber undertones. This is a new shade exclusive to the set (well, that’s what the press release says, but it was included in 2009′s Super Stash mini-set).
• Bourbon is a medium-dark warmed-up brown. This is a permanent shade.
• Midnight Cowboy is a shimmering champagne peach with a subtle metallic sheen. This was my second favorite from the set–this is totally a shade that is lacking in the 24/7 range. It is a great shade to brighten up eyes. This is a new shade exclusive to the set.
• Baked is a frosted coppery bronze. This is a permanent shade.
• Stash is an antique gold with a slight metallic sheen. This looks amazing with green eyes. This is a permanent shade.
• Mildew is a forest green with subtle gold shimmer. This is a permanent shade.
• Perversion is a rich, deep dark black with a near matte finish. It is gorgeous! MAC Feline Kohl Power lovers will fall in love with this shade. It would be a shame if Urban Decay didn’t make this permanent. This is a new shade exclusive to the set.
• Electric is a bright, neon cyan blue with subtle shimmer-sheen. This is a permanent shade.
• Binge is a navy blue with a hint of violet with soft blue micro-shimmer. This is a permanent shade.
• Ransom is a fuchsia-tinged violet with soft sheen. This is a permanent shade.
• Asphyxia is a fuchsia base with fuchsia-violet shimmer and sheen. It was surprisingly sheer–it did not have the color pay off of the average 24/7 Liner. This is a new shade exclusive to the set.
• Rockstar is a rich eggplant with a slight metallic sheen. This is a permanent shade.
• Zero is black. It’s not too dark, not too light, just black. This is a permanent shade.
• Uzi is a gunmetal silver with teal-green and silver micro-shimmer. It’s not quite as dark as Gunmetal, but they do not seem world’s apart. This is a new shade exclusive to the set.

Urban Decay’s 24/7 Eyeliners are some of my favorite pencils to use. I love the color variety, but more importantly, they wear well and long on me. They don’t smudge or budge, fade or migrate. The formula is kind to eyes, as they are soft and glide effortlessly across the lash line–no drag here.

RECOMMENDATION: It might be something to put on a holiday IOU list (since it won’t be out until January) or else save holiday gift cards and checks towards–if you are a fan of the 24/7 Liners. If you’re not sure about it, you may want to check out an individual shade before committing $92 to the cause. Long-time Urban Decay fans may find they have a lot of the shades featured in the kit (and maybe duplicates or even triplicates thereof).

COMPLETION in the form of Urban Decay Mildew 24/7 Eyeliner

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Mildew ($17.00) marked the completion of my 24/7 Eyeliners. I was really thrilled to see Urban Decay release the holiday shades (that were exclusive to the sets) show up in full-size and made part of the range.   There’s not much more to be said about Mildew that I haven’t already said in my original review (psst, check that out if you’re in need for an in-depth review!).  Color-wise, Mildew is a darkened forest green with a gold sheen.

Urban Decay 24/7 Super Stash ($36.00) is just one of three different sets of 24/7 Eye Pencils available for the holiday season.  If I had to pick one, I’d opt for the Super Stash, if only because you can grab the four new shades all at once.   In the Super Stash, you’ll receive nine half-sized 24/7 Eye Pencils (the full-size is 0.04 oz. and these are 0.02 oz. each).  The Hi-Fi and Stereophonic sets include 24/7 Eye Pencils as well, and each is 0.03 oz., so they’re just a little smaller, but not by much, than the full-sized versions.  Most of us will never get through a full-sized blue eye liner, so these sets are a great way to grab lovely colored liners without buying more than you’ll use.

Rather than just review the Super Stash, I’m actually going to review all of the 24/7 Eye Pencils I own.  Apparently, I’ve finally collected them all except Baked, Crash (in the Stereophonic set), and Mildew (in the Hi-Fi set), which I suppose now I’m compelled to get just to round everything out.  (Does anyone else feel that way… the need to complete when you’re nearly there anyway?)

• 24/7 Super Stash includes: Corrupt, Binge, Eldorado, Oil Slick, Zero, Graffiti, Ransom, Rockstar, and Stash and retails for $36.00.
• Hi-Fi includes: Mildew, Zero, Flipside, 1999 24/7 Eye Pencils, as well as Distortion Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner.
• Stereophonic includes: Crash, Zero, Underground, Gunmetal, as well as Midnight Cowboy Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner.

Why 24/7 Liners? They’re pigmented, soft pencil liners that are easy to use, look great, and last awhile.  I use these on my lower lash line all the time, because they add a lil’ pop of color, but they don’t migrate all over the place throughout the day.  They’re fairly budge-proof (at least, on me), and they are so easy to apply, because they’re soft.

24/7 Super Stash Eye Pencils

• Corrupt is a rich dark brown with warm undertones.
• Graffiti is a medium pop of bright green with just a tinge of teal in the base (it’s a bluer green vs. yellower green).
• Binge is a rich navy blue with a slight cobalt kind of look to it with a soft sheen.
• Eldorado is a brighter pop of yellow-based gold–it’s more of a true gold compared to Honey.
• Zero is a black liner–it’s not the richest or most intense black I’ve seen, but it’s pretty dark and definitely not a light black.  It doesn’t have any shimmer or sheen.
• Oil Slick is a silver-speckled light black.  The black base is just a smidgen lighter than Zero, but it has silver glitter/sparkle that lighten it up further.Graffiti
• Ransom is a iridescent purple with a slight reddish purple undertone.Stash is a greenish-gold–like an antique gold with a green tone.
• Rockstar is a dark burgundy-purple with a red undertone and slight reddish sheen.

24/7 Eye Pencils

• Yeyo is a silvery-white — it’s not 100% white on me, there is a little bit of silver sheen to it, but it’s close.  It’s just not a stark white (which may or may not be what you’re looking for).
• Gunmetal is a gunmetal silver-gray.  It’s a gray-black bas with a silver sheen.
• Dime is a bright silver-gray with a high metallic sheen.
• Bourbon is a medium dark chocolate brown with a slight sheen.
• Underground is a cooler, medium taupe brown with a metallic sheen.
• 1999 is a red-berry purple with a slight metallic sheen.
• Lust is a cool-toned dark violet purple with low sheen.
• Covet is a rich, jewel-tone teal with a slight shimmery finish.
• Flipside is a medium pop of bright teal with silvery-teal shimmer.
• Deviant is bright pop of medium dark blue with silver sparkle.
• Electric is an intense, bright blue-based turquoise.  It’s lighter and brighter than Flipside.
• Honey is a deep gold with just a bit of brownish tinge to it.  It does really remind me of honey.
• Lucky is a coppery orange-brown with a metallic sheen.

The majority of the shades available are also available in full-size, which go for $17 a pop and you get 0.04 oz. of product in each.  The only thing I didn’t like about the Super Stash liners is that they do feel a little “stumpy” in your hand, because they are so short.

Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Liners: Honey, El Dorado, Lucky

A week or so ago, I posted about Urban Decay releasing four new shades of their coveted 24/7 Eye Liners. They are every bit as amazing as the shades before them! Graffiti is a brighter, grassy green.  Flipside is a fun, bright poolside blue with an aqua sheen.  Underground is a revved up medium-to-dark brown with subtle sheen.  Of the four, Ransom is absolutely worth getting.  Ransom is a stunning, decadent jewel-tone royal purple.

If you only get one, get Ransom for sure!  And if you’re only getting a few 24/7 liners, it should be in your top three.  It’s truly just that stunning; it’s rich in the color, but it’s so pretty.  The blue-purple sheen it gives off is so glam!

I stopped by the Urban Decay counter yesterday to chat up a lovely artist, and she let me know that these lovelies wouldn’t be hitting the market until early to mid February.  I know UrbanDecay.com has a preview of their spring products, so hopefully they won’t hold out on us too much longer!  I adore the 24/7 liners immensely–seriously, I’m in the process of collecting them all!
