It’s a high-quality lipstick formula–opaque in one pass, long-wearing (six hours), hydrating, and doesn’t bleed or feather on me. It’s comfortable to wear and easy to apply, as it’s very nice on and wears well and fades evenly. It is lightly scented with a sweetened vanilla (very similar to MAC’s) but has no detectable taste. Is it gorgeous? Absolutely. Is it dupeable? Yes, definitely. Whether the formula is worth the luxury price tag is up to you, but if the color appeals to you and the price makes you cringe, there are several permanent dupes available (listed above).

Indian Rose has mostly opaque color coverage, and it delivers that coverage in a single pass. The consistency is about medium-weight (not thin but not heavy), creamy, and feels comfortable on. It doesn’t cling, and it dosen’t slide around, so the color stays even and wears well. When I tested the wear, I was able to get four and a half hours of wear, which is just over average. This shade was slightly moisturizing but not ultra hydrating. It has a sweetened vanilla scent (very similar to MAC’s vanilla-scented lipsticks) and no discernible taste. It’s encased in a brown square-shaped tube with “gold” trim.
It's an amplified version of a more natural lip color; rosy without being too bright, pink that's not too warm or too cool-toned. It's comfortable to wear, and the finish has just enough sheen to give lips a healthier, fuller look.

Tom Ford Violet Fatale Lip Color ($48.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a semi-opaque fuchsia-shimmered deep raspberry red. It has a natural glossy shine. Revlon Raspberry Pie is redder, less pink, no fuchsia shimmer. NARS Carthage is brighter, pinker. MAC Quite the Thing! is very similar, glossier. NYX Chloe has a fuchsia sheen rather than a shimmer. While the name isn’t much to go off, and one should never really trust a name to be descriptive, I wouldn’t classify this as a violet; this is more of a berry shade overall.
The formula on Violet Fatale is a little different compared to a lot of the other shades I’ve tried by Tom Ford; it has fine shimmer, a thinner consistency, and the finish isn’t the typical creamy, semi-matte finish that much of the range embodies. It’s nice to see something different, though I’m still finding the shade to be more dupeable than not. At this price point, it’s hard to justify a color you’ve seen half a dozen times, you know? The quality of the product is there–it’s long-wearing with six hours of wear, moisturizing (actually, more hydrating than a lot of other shades I’ve tried by the brand), and comfortable to wear. It has a lightly sweetened vanilla scent (similar to MAC’s) but no taste. The lipstick is housed in a brown and gold, square-shaped tube with the logo carved into the slant of the bullet.

As you can see, there are numerous shades that are similar to this one; some shades are a little redder, others are a bit pinker, and a few are fairly close. Casablanca has good color coverage, as it applied opaque and hides my lip freckle quite well. It has a creamy, smooth consistency that enables it to glide on evenly and easily. Even though it has opaque color and a creamy feel, it doesn’t sit heavily on the lips. It’s comfortable to wear, and it wears well–a solid five hours–while lightly moisturizing the lips.
Tom Ford’s lipstick range is vanilla-scented but doesn’t have any discernible taste. It comes in a square tube with gold metal accents and brown “paneling” on the exterior of the tube. I like that the outer tube doesn’t hold fingerprints, and there’s a satisfying click when you close the lipstick, so it stays together better if you toss it around in a bag. The brand’s logo is cut into the tip of the lipstick.
Tom Ford has a really good lipstick formula, though I have found the range to be more dupeable than not in terms of color. Depending on your needs, you may aspire to own something more unique at this price point. It's a very wearable shade, though, and it wears well.
