What’s the biggest makeup mess you’ve made? Share your stories!

Temptalia's AnswerSpilling MAC pigments (it’s always been them, I don’t know why) — I’ve done it on several occasions. The worst was spilling a neon fuchsia shade on a placement (thankfully, not the carpet!) and the whole thing was ruined.

What makes a luxury beauty product worth it? Anything? Quality? Service?

Temptalia's AnswerI feel like “worth it” is a statement about what you can and can’t afford comfortably, because having tried lipstick at $55 and lipstick at $1, I would not argue that it the luxury lipstick is 55 times better. My justification process looks at quality (there is nothing worse than paying a lot for something sub-par) and then packaging, wear (which is part of quality, really), brand values (sometimes I will pay more to support the right brand), uniqueness of the product, accessibility, and return policies. A luxury beauty product has to be top-notch quality and something I’d reach for often – something that would make me smile or get giddy every time I used it.

Has a significant other ever applied your makeup? Share the experience!

Temptalia's AnswerNope — I’ve asked Shaun, but he’s flat-out refused to. Even just for fun! Stick in the mud.

Do you change your makeup when you see your family? Does your style change? Do you wear less? The same?

Temptalia's AnswerGenerally, I wear less, but it depends on the type of family! My immediate family – I will wear whatever really, but if I’m planning, usually something subtler. If it’s extended family, then I keep it more low-key.

What do you look for in customer service from a beauty retailer? Share!

Temptalia's AnswerLow free shipping thresholds ($25 is ideal), no hassle returns (and preferably, free return shipping), clear policies, 1-2 day turnaround to ship the products out, and well-packed orders. Nothing is worse than receiving a package and hearing everything rattling around inside.
