SEPHORA’S COLORVISION is about transforming a face, a mood, or even an attitude. They had a vision: “Color sets the tone, ignites the moment, defines a mood as quickly as it transforms a look. Open your eyes to our bold new way to see, feel, learn, wear and love color.” Sephora has taken inspiration from this season’s color stories to create and explore a deeper connection to color. It’s less about a single trend, but rather a state of being. Sephora wants YOU opening your eyes to color, YOU connecting with color, and YOU feeling total color confidence. With their vast expertise, Sephora has created three distinct color visions inspired by the hues and shades of fall. Today’s vision focuses on the BLACKEST BLACKS.

Go bold, deep, and dark with three ways to wear rich black eyeliner.

Flicked Liner
This is a great way to wear black eyeliner that’s subtle enough for every day but still adds definition. Start by wiggling a black pencil liner between upper lashes, and then glide a thin base of black liquid liner from the center of lash lines to the outer corners. Sephora recommends by curling your toes as you line, which will help steady hands (try it!). Connect line from the inner corners to the center using the very tip of the liquid liner for a clean stroke. Blend toward the edges for an even base. Draw the wing by laying the liner tip flush against the outer corners and dragging toward the lash lines. Don’t forget to curl lashes and apply two coats of mascara–try bumping the tip of the wand horizontally against outer lashes to enhance the winged effect.

Winged Liner
Try this update on the classic eye that uses an elongated wing to deliver high glamour. Shape the wing by dragging the flat side of a felt-tip liner from the outer corners to the center of the lids. Then, connect the inner corners to the centers using the fine-tipped side of the liner. Trace over the edges with your eyes open, keeping the angle long and low, like a 25-degree incline, and then refine the tall ends. Finish by curling lashes and adding two coats of mascara–make sure to wiggle the brush from roots to ends to lift and separate lashes.

Blurred Liner
Get all of the drama of black eyeliner with a softer, blurred look. Prep eyes with an eye primer and a wash of neutral shadow over lids; if you want even more dimension, choose a shade two shades darker than your natural skin tone. Next, draw a line from the outer corners to the centers of lids with a rich black eyeliner and repeat from centers to the inner corners. Keep your eyes open and blend the liner with a smudge brush; keeping your eyes opened will help you control the shape and keep the intensity at the lash lines. Press a matte black shadow along the lash lines to set the liner and pro long wear. Finish by curling lashes and slowly brushing on three coats of mascara while lashes are still went to increase intensity without clumping.

Today’s vision is all about CRIMSON VELVETS.

Don’t be afraid to embrace a crimson lip–you can wear it as sheer or as opaque as you’d like!

Diffused Lip
If you’re not sure about how intense you want to go, Pro artist, Sara Biria, suggests going for a diffused lip. You can achieve this look by first prepping lips with a good lip balm, which will help with the sheer effect. Next, apply a touch of red lipstick to the center of the lip and blend with the balm. You can keep adding color to build up intensity and blending toward the edges of the lip to create an even color. As a final step to really make your pout standout, dab an illuminating concealer along the edges of your cupid’s bow with your fingertip.

Painted Lip
For a more modern, stained effect, look for red that will give an intense, matte finish. Start by prepping lips with a good lip balm, massaging until absorbed, and ensuring to blot away any excess moisture (which can take away from the finish and wear). With a lip liner just slightly darker than your lipstick color, line top and bottom lips. This helps to add dimension and enhance the red. Apply your lower lip with liquid lipstick and then press lips together to transfer color to the upper lip; then shape the cupid’s bow. To make sure the shape is perfect, tilt your head back and keep lips together to check for symmetry. Now, all you need to do is let lips dry for about thirty seconds or so and then pat with translucent powder to prolong wear (and make sure to dust off any excess powder with a brush).

Lacquered Lip
For dramatic, highly pigmented red lips, opt for a lacquer finish. Start with clean, bare lips and then apply the liquid lipstick by gliding the flat edge of the wand from the center to the outer corners. Press lips together to transfer the color to the upper lip and using enough pressure to ensure the color transfers within lip lines. Next, shape the cupid’s bow by tracing the rounded side of the wand over the curves for an even shape. Once again, tilt your head back and keep lips together to check for evenness in shape. Set your high-impact lip with clear gloss and you’re ready to rock!

Coming together for an enchanting collaboration, SEPHORA + PANTONE UNIVERSE take this fall’s most exciting shades and have turned them into colors you can wear in a new collection: The Alchemy of Color. Colors are inspired by precious prisms and gemstones that become even more luminous when paired with moody darks. This newest collaboration takes fall’s color forecast to the next level by creating shades that embody a powerful, modern magic stemming from color and texture.

They began with a sentiment expressed by Arthur C. Clarke, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” This created the desire to take the concept of ancient rituals and magic and combine them with the latest advances in technology. There is an interplay of color and texture: glowing jeweled tones that are lush and sumptuous paired with lavish sparkle, a metallic and glossy sheen, and new effects. Alchemy of Color gives you the ability to play with the feel and attitude of your look with a myriad of color and textural options. It can be modern, mysterious, or entrancing–every look exudes radiance as you play with light and shadow in dynamic, luminous tones of this fall’s radiant jewels.

Tone on Tangerine Tango

Take inspiration from warm, rich tones that will bring fall’s most beautiful hues to the forefront with a lip in tangerine tango, Pantone’s color of the year, that takes center stage! Begin by blending a golden shadow from lash lines to creases for a smooth base. Next, swoosh a mahogany shade into the creases, gently blending from the inner to the outer edges for dimension. To finish the eyes, curl lashes and apply mascara to the upper lashes. For a luminous cheek, apply a luminizing bronzer over forehead and cheeks using circular motions and then swirl a pink blush over the apples of the cheek. Now, for the key part of the look, apply a glowing tangerine lipstick over the lips.

Chiseled Bronze

Opt for a luminous, defined face with a hint of warmth and looks natural and effortless. Begin by illuminating the skin with a pearlescent primer, concentrating the coverage on the highest planes of the cheekbones and forehead, as well as on the bridge of the nose. Brush a soft wash of bronzer in circular motions into the hollows of the cheeks, then blend up towards the hairline. Sweep a highlighter over cheekbones and along the bridge of the nose for added luminosity. Lightly dab blush onto the apples of the cheeks, temples, tip of the nose, and chin to add warmth to the skin. Swirl a golden shadow over lids, blending up toward the creases to further enhance the sculpted bronze look. Polish lips with a touch of pink gloss for a soft finish.

It’s less about a single trend, but rather a state of being. Sephora wants YOU opening your eyes to color, YOU connecting with color, and YOU feeling total color confidence. With their vast expertise, Sephora has created three distinct color visions inspired by the hues and shades of fall.  The first vision to experience is NOUVEAU PURPLES.

This fall, experiment with NOUVEAU PURPLES to bring out the eyes and find new ways to enhance your beautiful peepers beyond neutrals.

Soft Eye
Combine soft purples with effortless neutrals for a soft eye look that incorporates a dash of purple in the crease. Start by applying a light purple over the lids with small, feathered strokes, and blending just above the natural crease. Take the color and lightly glide it along the lower lash lines for added definition. Next, take a deeper shade of purple and apply it into the crease for a gently defined crease. Give lashes added volume by applying black eyeliner between top lashes and then smudging a dark purple eyeshadow along the upper lash line. As a final step, sweep a bronze shadow along the creases to balance the look and add warmth, and then finish with two coats of mascara.

Iridescent Eye
Fall in love with the gorgeous hues of purple with a wash of iridescent shimmer–and it’s so easy and has just enough drama to make it interesting! Start by applying an iridescent navy shadow along the upper lash line and diffusing the color just beyond the outer corners. Next, blend a glimmering purple shade into the creases using small, feathered strokes and brush color along the lower lash lines. Finish by applying two coats of mascara over top lashes.

Smoldering Eye
For an intensely smoky, smoldering eye, bold purples will take your look to the next level of drama! Begin by sweeping a mushroom shadow over lids, blending from lash lines up toward the creases, and build up the color for richer coverage as desired. Next, layer on a shimmering amethyst shade and work from the outer to the inner corners, then wrap the color along the lower lash lines. To add definition, line top and bottom lids, including the inner rims, with black eyeliner. To avoid harsh lines, blend the pencil and shadow together. You can add warmth as well as dimension by sweeping a matte peach shadow above the creases and bring it along the lower lash lines. Finally, finish the look with two coats of mascara on top and bottom lashes.
