L’Oreal Endless Pearl In 24HR Infallible Eyeshadow ($7.95 for 0.14 oz.) is a pale beige with neutral-to-warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had good color payoff, but it has the kind of texture that works best dry, as it tends to crumble and stick to itself when applied wet (so it doesn’t apply as smoothly).  Dry, it can be somewhat powdery and may look chalky on darker complexions.  This is a shade you’ll find across brands, but it’s a great basic shade that works well as a highlighter on lighter complexions or as a neutralizing color to sweep over the lid to even out their color. Bobbi Brown Ivory, MAC Shroom (warmer, satiny), Urban Decay Walk of Shame, Wet ‘n’ Wild Drinking a Glass of Shine #5, Urban Decay Anonymous (satiny), theBalm Adagio, and MAC Brule are all rather similar.

Dive Right In is an iridescent aqua blue with a frosted, metallic sheen. It had so-so color payoff when applied dry and was semi-opaque when applied damp–it was smoother when applied damp as well. This shade creased on me noticeably after eight hours of wear (no primer). This is a limited edition shade, so you’ll likely have to find it at a local drugstore (I received this as a press sample; the other two shades I purchased myself). Giorgio Armani #10 is more silvered. Make Up For Ever #150 is bluer, less iridescent. Giorgio Armani Ecailles Black Pearl #3 is much darker.

Infinite Sky is a cool-toned, medium-dark silver-shimmered blue. Applied dry, it is sheerer, while it intensifies when applied damp–and the frosted sheen becomes more pronounced as well. MAC Dimensional Blue is a smidgen lighter. MAC Moon’s Reflection is a touch darker. Urban Decay Mary Jane is bluer.

I didn’t have any wear issues with either Endless Pearl or Infinite Sky, but Dive Right In did crease noticeably after only eight hours of wear (and these are 24-hour wear, technically). I tested all three shades for a total of fourteen hours, and the other two looked about the same as when I had applied them (no fading or creasing). The texture of the three were consistent; soft, finely-milled, and mostly smooth. Endless Pearl has such a matte finish that wet application didn’t go well compared to a lot of the shimmery shades in the range (and this wasn’t unexpected–a lot of products with matte finishes don’t turn out well if applied wet).

MAC Masat al Lail Eyeshadow Quad ($40.00 for 0.21 oz.) contains these shades: Rondelle (platinum silver frost), Waft (deep navy with pearl), Gentle Fume (dirty concrete grey with silver pearl), and Carbon (intense black). Long-time MAC collectors may remember this composition, as it was originally launched in Smoke Signals (2007) as the Gentle Fume quad.

Rondelle is a gray-tinged white with a frosted finish. It had decent to good color payoff, but it was a little dusty, though I was able to get it to apply smoothly for the most part. Tarte Silver Burst is brighter, whiter. Guerlain Les Aquas #4 is more metallic. Bobbi Brown Iced Blue is cooler-toned.

Waft is a dark, bluish-gray with a subtle, frosted finish. The texture is rather dry, which is why this shade looks a bit patchy (and it does look dry, too) when swatched. It has so-so color payoff, but it was buildable and when used with a soft, fluffier brush, it did seem to apply better and more smoothly. theBalm Matt McDonald is very similar. MAC Warm Thunder is more metallic. Tarina Tarantino DIamond DUsk is more metallic, lighter. MAC Weathered is bluer.

Gentle Fume is a medium-dark matte gray base with silver sparkle. The silver sparkle doesn’t adhere or bind with the base color very well, so it flakes and disappears the moment you go to blend out the color. If you want any sparkle to survive, pat the color on, and then leave it alone. There will be fall out during the day, though. MAC Fabulous Fit doesn’t have the sparkle and is a touch lighter. MAC Silver Gull is much lighter. NARS Delphes #2 is close to the base color but doesn’t have the silver sparkle. Chanel Gris Exquis is a darker gray with no silver sparkle.

Carbon is a medium-dark black with a matte finish. It is part of the permanent range, and it varies in its dryness. This isn’t the worst iteration I’ve seen of it, but it’s certainly not the best and is by no means a favorite of mine to use. The beauty world can do better black eyeshadows now, so Carbon could use a reformulation to put it on par with current black eyeshadows. It’s just so dry and stiff, so the color payoff is sheerer and patchy–even applied on the lid, it can be a pain to blend out. You can find numerous black eyeshadows that compare to this (in terms of color).

It is a cool-toned, silver-and-gray smoky eye palette.  Over the years, I’ve grown frustrated with Carbon, so the inclusion of it in the quad is tiresome, as it is so often released in quads and palettes, so you very likely have one already (and it’s just not a great quality eyeshadow to begin with, so why have doubles or triples of it?).  I think the color of Waft is the most interesting, but it turns out that Weathered ends up looking more nuanced on the lid because it is bluer.  I wish the silver sparkle stuck to Gentle Fume, because then it would be something harder to dupe or find, but it just disappears and gets everywhere else.  Rondelle is the best performing shade in the palette.  I’m going to be wearing this quad for wear today, so I’ll report back with the results this afternoon–based on my experience with MAC’s drier/sheerer shades, I don’t get great wear (between seven and eight hours, some fading), I’ve assessed a rating but if it is better/worse, I’ll be sure to let you know.

MAC Confectionary Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “light blue pink [with a cream finish].” It’s a pale, pastel pink with a neutral-cool undertone and a creamy finish. MAC Delicate has barely-there shimmer, but it is similar. Cult Nails Enticing is slightly pinker and has white micro-shimmer. Nubar Pink Lily is a touch pinker but very close.

Streaks, ahoy! This was a troublemaker of a polish; it was all streaks and nothing but. Two coats and there was still so much visible streaking–it wasn’t just the first coat that was being difficult. The color coverage was semi-opaque, as the nail line still comes through quite a bit, even if you overlook the streaky application. It’s such a shame, because I could see someone really loving the delicate look of pale pink–and the sheerness would give it a very soft look. (Of course, it’s not described as sheer.)  The consistency was just a bit watery but didn’t pool along the edges.  I usually get a week of wear out of MAC’s polish with minor tip wear, which is the most consistent characteristic I’ve experienced with the polish.

Illamasqua Creep Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “soft lavender purple.” It’s a light-medium lavender purple with cool undertones and a matte finish. There are several lavender eyeshadows that I’ve come across, but I haven’t seen anything this cool-toned. The closest shade I could think of was MAC Water & Ice #2 which is more silvered and very frosted.

Creep had decent to good color payoff, but it didn’t yield full, opaque color.  The texture was very soft and finely-milled, but it was noticeably powdery, so it was prone to sheering out during application and tended to fade while worn.  Because the powderiness, it would work better over a slightly creamy or tacky base, because it would give the powder something to adhere to, so it would appear more pigmented and wear better.  It lasted six hours well but looked significantly faded after eight hours of wear.

Urban Decay Space Cowboy Moondust Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “light champagne with bright silver sparkle.” It’s a warm-toned, light-medium brown base with lighter champagne and beige shimmer and sparkle. bareMinerals Kudos is less sparkly and almost has a little duochrome. shu uemura P Soft Beige 832 has a pearly finish. MAC Summer Haze is warmer–a little peachy. MAC Sweet Satisfaction has a satin finish.

Space Cowboy had similar color payoff used both dry and wet; applying it damp did intensify the underlying base color ever-so-slightly. Even the finish is the same: sparkly, metallic, but it doesn’t smooth down as fully as other shades in the range. It retains a more frosted finish. This shade gave me more problems with fall out compared to the others–it just didn’t seem to bind/adhere as well. It worked best when really pressed against the lid using a sponge-tip applicator. Within the shade range, this is the most “everyday” kind of color–the kind where you can just sweep it on and go (well, technically, not practically!). It wore seven hours but lightly creased by eight hours. For a comparison to their Stardust eyeshadows, please read this review.

Flower Beauty Foxy Browns Shadow Play Eyeshadow Quad ($9.98 for 0.21 oz.) consists of four shades: peach, bronze, dark brown, and taupe.  It’s my first experience with the brand, which is exclusively available at Walmart (I bought mine online).

Foxy Browns #1 is a pale, warm-toned peach with a hint of pink and a frosted finish. It had excellent pigmentation, but it is powdery and while very easy to blend, it also sheers out quickly if you sweep it on (so pat and pack!). Le Metier de Beaute Nouvelle is warmer, less pink. MAC Double Feature #5 #1 is lighter. Inglot #354 is very similar but matte in finish.

Foxy Browns #2 is a warm bronze-shimmered, medium-dark brown with warm, golden undertones and a pearly finish. It had good pigmentation and applied smoothly and evenly. Benefit Kiss Me, I’m Tipsy is darker, redder toned. Clinique Fuller Fudge is redder (and a cream product). Tarte Brilliant Bronze is more frosted. MAC Mulch is similar, slightly less golden. Milani Caramel Brown is lighter, more metallic. Inglot #421 is much deeper/richer.

Foxy Browns #3 is a darkened, cool-toned brown with a matte finish. It had decent pigmentation, but as a result of that super finely-milled texture, it was difficult to achieve full opacity because it always wanted to look faded and sheered out. MAC Diamond Dove is grayer. Tarina Tarantino Wonderful #5 is darker and grayer. MAC Charcoal Brown is a touch grayer. MAC Brown Down is slightly warmer.

Foxy Browns #4 is a slightly warm-toned taupe with a subtly shimmered finish. It had so-so color payoff, but it was so powdery! This was the most powdery shade out of the bunch. Too Faced Hot Cocoa is rosier, warmer. Bobbi Brown Chino is similar but matte. MAC Magical Mist is darker. MAC Era is similar.

The texture is both amazing and annoying; it is one of the softest eyeshadows I’ve come across but one of the most powdery textures I’ve used. It’s almost as if you’re using a loose product, because it just comes apart with the slightest touch of an applicator. I’d actually recommend using sponge-tip applicators here, because they seemed to disturb the surface the least, so there was less excess product kicked up. I feel like I’m in such a quandary, because it’s all, “Ooh, velvety, smooth, oh, is this silk?” initially but applied, lots and lots of excess product falls underneath the lid. You really have to pat and pack on the product and be careful when blending, as each shade was prone to sheering out very quickly.

I was only able to get six hours of good wear with this without a primer, as by eight hours, it had disappeared. With a primer (NARS Smudge Proof), it was better, but it was still faded after eight hours. I’ve found that really powdery eyeshadows tend to fade faster on me. I would recommend applying this over a stickier, creamier primer–something like a cream eyeshadow or the like–because it would help it adhere and stick better. I have several other products I bought from the range that I’ve yet to test, so here’s hoping I have better luck with those!

Also: when I bought this quad, it was my first time ordering from Walmart online, and everything was thrown into a large box with no bubble wrap or padding; I was utterly surprised nothing was broken (especially given how delicate the eyeshadows are), but I wanted to give you a heads up.
