Milani Berry Tempting, Ravish Raspberry, Pink Lady Brilliant Shine Lipglosses

This spring, Milani launched a new gloss formula, Brilliant Shine, in fourteen different shades. The new formula is supposed to have “rich color, extreme high shine, and comfortable lasting wear,” plus be “moisturizing and non-tacky.” I have several more to try (and not all of them are even photographed yet!), but here are the first three I tested. The texture is thick but smooth and mostly non-sticky, and the gloss smells like sweet vanilla but has no discernible taste. It comes with a paddle-shaped, sponge-tip applicator that fits along the curve of the lip. The formula has a high-shine, glossy finish, and they wear between three and four hours on me. I notice a slight tackiness that develops after an hour of wear, but it never feels full-on sticky, but it’s not 100% non-sticky. In some ways, the formula reminded me of MAC Lipglass, just not as thick and not tacky. Based on these three, they’re somewhat hydrating while worn.

Dior Dulcinee (324) Eyeshadow Palette

Dior Dulcinee (324) Eyeshadow Palette ($60.00 for 0.21 oz.) is new and limited edition for spring–and exclusive to Nordstrom. The colors look bolder at a glance than they perform on the eye. The darker, mint green looks more like a wash of very pale aqua green on the lid, even though I tried to pat and pack it on. Even the purple shade didn’t seem to hold up well; it just sheered out quickly and looked faded from the get-go. If you’re after a very, very soft, pastel-driven look, you may enjoy this palette. If you wanted the colors to look and perform exactly as they do in the pan on the eye, you’ll be disappointed. Overall, the eyeshadows lasted about seven hours before starting to fade (from what they looked like initially).

Maybelline Touchable Taupe, Stormy Sahara, Untainted Spice, Espresso Exposed ColorSensational Lip Colors

For spring, Maybelline’s added ten shades of “nude” that range from the very, very palest beige to muted mauves to deep plums. I greatly appreciate that Maybelline considered the spectrum of skin tones when they thought about flesh-colored lipsticks, because what’s “nude” for one skin tone isn’t going to be nude for everyone.  Here are the last four from the new set of shades!  My favorite in this set was Untainted Spice.

NARS Khao San Road & Puerta del Sol Larger Than Life Eyeliners

The NARS Larger Than Life Eyeliner ($24.00 for 0.02 oz.) range has two new shades releasing for spring. Khao San Road is permanent, while Puerta del Sol is limited edition.  They’re both really fun, bright pops of color that are perfect for adding oomph to any look, but I wish they were a little creamier and more pigmented.  They are buildable to varying degrees (Puerta del Sol more so than Khao San Road), and they were both long-wearing and didn’t smudge at any point (but gradually faded/thinned after eight hours).

NARS Final Cut Satin Lip Pencils

NARS Final Cut Satin Lip Pencils ($25.00 for 0.07 oz. each) includes four limited edition shades that are exclusive to Nordstrom (in the U.S.; Holt Renfrew in Canada, Selfridges in the UK). If you like Satin Lip Pencils, I see no reason why you wouldn’t like the formula of these, with the exception of Stourhead, which will require significant prep work, patience, and reduced expectations. They’re nicely pigmented, fairly comfortable to wear, and have a good wear time. I wish they were as hydrating as they claim, but they’re not drying at least.  I wish that there was a bigger difference between Descanso and Torres del Paine, as they look surprisingly similar for shades included in a single collection.

Wet ‘n’ Wild Naked Truth Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette

Wet ‘n’ Wild Naked Truth Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette ($3.99 for 0.21 oz.) consists of five eyeshadows. These are new–and permanent–beginning January. I found mine at Walgreens about a week ago. The formula is suposed to be “long-lasting, highly pigmented … satiny-smooth for crease resistant wear.” There are five of the 5-pan palettes being added to the permanent range. Recently, I’ve been rather disappointed with Wet ‘n’ Wild’s eyeshadow palettes, so I thought I would start with this neutral-themed one, as neutrals tend to easier to do than bright, bold colors. All five shades are on the softer side and can be powdery, so you’ll want to use a light touch when grabbing color and then pat, rather than sweep, on. I would recommend using an eyeshadow primer underneath these, as alone, they are noticeably faded after six to seven hours.
